  1. French & english. I used to speak spanish too but I forgot almost everything ! (but I'm still able to order a beer... eheh ) And I really want to learn arabic ! My bf is morrocan, so it would be a shame not to try!
  2. Hey ! I haven't been around for a while, but it's time for me to push myself a little and start a new challenge... Go Rangers !
  3. Hi there ! I haven't been here for a while, but I didn't forget Nerd Fitness and its crazy community ! So here I am, trying to get back on track with healthy & fitness habits... My goals for this 6 weeks will be approximatively the same that I set during my previous challenges, but it doesn't matter : I'm rebooting myself ! So, here is my plan : #1 : set a push-up habit, 3 times/week. #2 : legs/butt work, twice/week. #3 : 1 fruit & 2 veggies per day. #4 : learn meditation, at least 5 times/week, starting at 3mn. I'll post some details about my fitness goals later, but I have a plan to follow to be successful... ^^ No excuses for my fourth challenge !!
  4. Time for a quick update ! - push-ups : done ! Still around 13 in a row. (Grade A) - Aïkido : good! (Grade A) - diet : hem, failed. Did nothing for it, and I ate good/bad things. (Grade F) - dishes : nothing in my sink ! (Grade A)
  5. Ok guys, so here I am for my third challenge ! \o/ 2012 has been quite a good year but I'm not perfectly pleased with it. Why? Because I don't think I evolved enough. Of course there were good moments but for example I didn't travelled enough to my taste or learned new cool things to do and this is exactly what I want to change in 2013. But how? Aahah! that's a good question ! ^^ There is one thing I already know : I want to be stronger. Physically and mentaly! And before thinking about amazing workout or perfect diet, I need to create a few good habits, like exercise on a regular basis and know how to clean my diet. I learned a lot of things during my two previous challenges and I hope I will finish this one with great results ! As a reminder, my second goals were : - Being able to do 10 real push-ups in a row. - Plank at least 1mn. - Avoid snacking. - Learn how to meditate, and practice daily. It was a success for my two fitness goals and a disaster for the others... x) Starting Attributes Level 3 STR 7.5 | DEX 1.5 | STA 4.5 | CON 5 | WIS 6.5 | CHA 3 Goals - Keep doing push-ups three times a week. (+2 STR/+1 DEX/+1 CON) - Aïkido : practice twice a week (no more shitty excuses to avoid a lesson!) (+1 STR/+2 DEX/+1 STA/+1 CHA) - Diet : get organized. (+1 CON/+1 WIS/+2 CHA) - No more dirty dishes when I go to bed. I need to clean it before I sleep! (+2 WIS) It might be easy goals for you but I really want to create those goddam good habits... ^^ That's why I keep doing push-ups in this challenge (after I start to practice it in my previous challenge), and I will start exercising another part of my body in February. It's a bit the same with AÃkido... I skiped too many lessons last year, so no more crappy excuses to miss a class ! I also plan to go to a special training in a week and maybe I could have my yellow belt in February! About my diet goal, it's because I don't work right now (it could change quickly or not) and I want to avoid snacking and shitty food when I'm at home... I don't really know how I would do for this goal, let's see what will happen! And for my lifestyle goal, well... Too many times I said to myself "pfff, I'll do it later!" but no more ! Let's go!
  6. Happy New Year everybody !! :)

  7. Thanks !! =) I've just manage to do my second exhaustion test, and I did 16 push-ups !! Next level wouhouuu ! My general report for this second challenge is quite easy to do : Grade A for my fitness goals and Grade F for the others. But it's not that disapointing because I think I've learned something new about myself and I'll see if I can do better with the next challenge! So, points ! - Being able to do 10 real push-ups in a row. (+2 STR/+1 DEX/+1 STA) - Plank at least 1mn. (+2 STR/ +2 STA) - Avoid snacking. (+2 CON/ +1 CHA) - Learn how to meditate, and practice daily. (+3 WIS)
  8. Thanks a lot !! My two other goals won't be that successful but I'm starting to see why it was harder to manage... Meditation is a great way to stay quiet and deal with stressful situations but does it need to be practiced daily ? And maybe it's a bad idea to force myself to do it, just because I have to, with the only excuse that it's for my challenge ! And for my diet challenge, I've realized that it's easier for me to add something good that to remove something bad. I already know that I can't do a restrictive diet because if I tell myself "ok you can't eat that, it's forbidden" (let's say Kinder Bueno for example) I'll want to eat all kind of Kinder even if I'm not hungry or don't attracted to it initially (and I'm far too greedy for doing such a diet ). And the good part of adding something is that it usually remove something bad without effort ! And it works for everything ! Let's say I want to spend less time on the Internet : instead of saying to myself "ok, only 2 hours each evening" I prefer setting goals like cooking a new recipe, watch a movie at the theatre, read a book etc...

    #4: Feet of clay

Nice !! And yeah, quite a bad news for your job but sometimes it can be a good reason to think about what we really want to do... I'm also in computer stuffs (aaah, the delightful world of SSII ), and without losing my job I will start the new year with no mission ! Kinda stressful too ! Nothing prevents you from sending your resume to computer companies (if you want to send it to me, don't hesitate!) and search for greater opportunities somewhere else! And I totally understand your situation because I only stay in that job for the money but if I had to do my dream job, it could be a coffee/(SFFF) bookstore ! ^^ Good luck !
  10. That's a really good idea !! Maybe it's the answer to my issues : all my goals were new stuffs to do and perhaps it's why I've got some trouble to achieve (and continue) them... So for the next challenge, I'll need some funny goals and based on something I'm already doing. I think of some housework (try to do a little everyday), cooking (try new recipes, buy unknow veggies and fruits) and for fitness maybe something that can help me with Aïkido ! ^^ Guess what guys?!!!! I did it ! I did these 10 push-ups in a row! New PR and second fitness goal done ! Yeaaah! \o/
  11. Not a lot to say, except that I ate too much these past days, didn't exercise and received crappy news from my boss... Eurk, not a good way to begin a new week ! I don't know yet how I'll organize this thread and myself with all I want to do, but I'll try to report everything here that I think could be helpful in my quest. [Week 1] - Just did a few push-ups (2-3-2-2-6) and yep, new PR ! - food : hmmm. nah, you don't wanna know what I ate today. but it's bad (or too good, it depends how you want to see it!) I've said in my 6 week challenge that I'm currently a bit lost... It's like I'm locked in a room and I don't know what to do to get out of it. I guess my big lack of confidence is not helping me here... I want (need?) to focus on something great for 2013, just to prove myself that hey, I can do great stuffs too ! That's why I'm here : because I'm pretty sure that if I work seriously on my diet and exercise I could be that badass girl I have in mind who's still locked in that goddam room. A few things I've noticed : #1 I need to have a plan written if I want to succeed. #2 I need to report and trace my progress (with dates and everything) Aahahah, and I've just realized that I've made a mistake in my thread title... (of course, it's "The first step" and no "the first walk") Can I change that? :/
  12. Ok, here I am ! I was thinking about creating my own thread for a few weeks, and now it's done ! So ! What I want to do right now? Diet : clean it up and beat my Crohn's ! - reduce sugar and eat all da veggies and fruits !! - try new stuffs and cook a lot ! - report everything : I really need to figure out what I can eat and what I can't. It's hard to do, but I will do my best. Fitness : - work on my upper body strengh : I just want to focus on that for now. I messep up with my push-ups goal for this 6 week challenge and it annoys me A LOT ! I will also report all my PR here, I hope it will help me to see my progress ! Push-ups PR - 17/12/2013 : 6 in a row!
  13. Thanks ! I'm a little better today, I try slowly to go back to my initial situation... Because yep, a gastroenteritis with a Crohn's, my belly didn't appreciate... >< And now, I have a cold... yeepeeee ! \o/ Jimmie, always here... thank you ! ^^ Exactly ! The hardest part for me is to keep doing all these goals once the challenge is finished... That's why I'm thinking about setting funnier stuff (or reaaaaaally easy ones if I plan to do it daily for example) for the next challenge like cooking, stretching and even some strengh training or some homework things! Sometimes, we think that the goal we plan are easy. And well, if it has to be done daily (and for the rest of our lives)... it's not that easy ! That's something I have to deal with, how to pick up a good goal and evaluate it well. Steve's last article is really nice, it makes me realize how I need to deal more seriously with my Crohn's and how to be in a amazing shape despite this f*cking disease!
  14. Hi everybody ! Nah, I'm not dead (not yet, we still have a few days before the world's end! ) but I was badly sick these past days and not really in a good mood for my NF goals... And I've just realized that 6 weeks is a good period, but I don't know if it fits well for me. I've got that feeling that it creates too much contraints for me, and it's like I only have to focus on my goals for 6 weeks and then it's ok. I guess I need to be more "zen" about all the things I want to change, without thinking about point or weekly report etc. ^^ For example, when I created the habit putting moisturizing cream each day, I didn't think of creating this habit. I just took my cream after my shower one day, then another one and the next day after... Without pressure, without thinking "oh, I NEED to put my cream on! It's for my new habit!" and yet, it worked well. So I guess I will create a Daily Battle Log and record all I want to do in it, and still do the 6 week challenge but with some kind of funny goals instead of too serious ones!
  15. Thanks Jimmie! I was thinking about 2mn too, let's see if I can do it ! \o/ And no, unfortunatly I don't have any pics of me with the katana... Maybe another day, who knows? And stupid me, almost four weeks since this challenge has begun and I've just checked (yeah, only now... what a shame!) this link that Balsquith (thanks again!) posted about the push-ups program in page 1... And oh! it's exactly what I need... My 10 push-ups goal is still doable, but I wonder how many push-ups I could have done if I have started this program the first week instead of the fourth one ! x)
