  1. Hey guys umm quick recap of all I've missed. Hi guys! Seems I have a bit of a problem with posting regularly. I've had big project deadlines lately, and finals are starting in less than 48 hours, so I'm all over the place lately, but I've still been pretty good in terms of goal. Nov 27th : Ripped in 30 Week 4 + 2 miles. No snacking. Ok for bedtime. Nov 28th : Ripped in 30 Week 4 + 1.15 miles. No snacking. Ok for bedtime. Nov 29th : Ripped in 30 Week 4 + 1.15 miles. No snacking. Late bedtime. Nov 30th : 1.15 miles (squeezed it in at 10pm). Big 30-minute presentation (got my grade today, 92%!!!), and some snacking when I got home (I was really stressed about it). Late bedtime. Dec 1st : 1.35 miles. No snacking. Ok for bedtime. Dec 2nd : 1.15 miles. Lots of snacking (worked at the cafeteria, then ate at home). Late bedtime. Dec 3rd : Ripped in 30 Week 1 (I was feeling a bit sick so went back) + 1.15 miles. Lots of snacking too. Bedtime ok. Dec 4th : 1.15 miles. Last day of class, so I kind of "rewarded" myself unfortunately with food...Late bedtime. Dec 5th : 1.05 miles. Let's not talk about the eating, pretty bad. Late bedtime but enough sleep. Dec 6th : Ripped in 30 Week 2 + 1.15 miles. Snacking too, my mother brought back gingerbread cookies. Late bedtime but enough sleep. Dec 7th : Ripped in 30 Week 2. I decided not to do a mile (I still got 30 minutes of exercise in) to go to bed earlier, I need the sleep with 2 finals in the next 72 hours. I spent most of today desperately hoping that I would know where I'm doing my internships. See, I'm starting on January 20th, but I still don't know where I'm going! Considering that last time, I was 1h15 away from home, I had to rent an apartment, I'd very much like to know soon enough. We were supposed to know a month ago, and they told us last friday that we should know this week, next week at the latest. I was really convinced I would know today. Frustrated about this. That kinda got me snacking all over the place and just feeling awful in general. I got an excellent grade for another term paper, so that helped me feel better, but I'm still pissed about the whole situation. I didn't get much reading done, I only managed to read How to win friends and influence people. All that's left is 3 books, so I'm pretty confident that I'll make it for that one, just more towards the end of my finals, for obvious reasons I have a Christmas party on the 14th, and I've got a beautiful red dress that I want to wear, so I made myself a 1-week meal schedule to make sure that I don't overeat on the days before then, keep my sodium intake low. I was thinking of doing a Spartan Beast next summer (13 miles), but I think that with my abysmal strength, it'd be wiser and better to start off a bit smaller, and maybe do that big one next year. I'm thinking of signing up for a Super Spartan instead, which is a 8-miler. I've noticed the posts on the motivation to lose weight and get fitter, I thought that was very insightful and interesting. Knowing the reason makes it so much easier to be driven and focused. And 49/57 hours a week? How do you manage that?!

  3. Ok, I'm not sure what all this football is about, but for the rest of your week! It's impressive that you managed to make 3 trips to the gym, when you're usually at 1. Also, great job on the planning, it's clear that preparing food in advance gives you less opportunities to eat fast food or whatever's in your face when you're hungry. Did you know you can freeze it all (like the leftovers) and reheat them up another day? That's what I've been doing all semester when I have no time to cook. I do a big batch of about 10 portions, keep 2 for the week and freeze the rest. Then, when I get home late or don't have time to make a lunch, I just grab one from the freezer and voilà ! Since I do a different big batch every week, I even have a variety of options in what to eat. Food for thought!
  4. That sounds like a great idea, because you're able to diversify your strengths and be in a community of people following the same goals. Switching classes between challenges is okay, as long as you're happy with the change, though we're glad to have you in the adventurers! Are you doing well this week?
  5. You're doing great Rostov! I just read through all the entries on this thread, and it sounds like you really have it together. Planning your meals in advance is an awesome goal, that can help on so many levels. Even with your chocolate setback (and let's face it, who can resist chocolate?), I can see you're maintaining a positive attitude and handling it right away instead of allowing it to turn into a 3-day setback. Major props to you! I leave you with this, I find this funny for some reason :
  6. Eheh I give you +5 points for Style for finishing a Tough Mudder! It's great that you took it easy for the week after, it'll help you recover and make you stronger for it! Good job on your A!
  7. Thanks for all your encouraging comments guys! I was feeling a bit disappointed with my week, but the best I can do is just to put it behind me and start this one head on! So, today was pretty good : 1. Did Ripped in 30 Week 4 + 1.05 miles 2. No snacks. Ate only quality food, and no more than needed (didn't feel stuffed). 3. Sleep : It's 10.30 pm and I should be in bed within the next 10 minutes. I slept yesterday from 11.15pm to 9am, I was so tired! Hopefully I'll have more energy for the rest of the week. Reading : Started and finished The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I only read that one, and not the other volumes, but I really liked it! I'll probably continue the others after I've finished my reading list. That and Fight Club! All in all, I even managed to do half the homework I was supposed to, and I'll count that as a win. I must've drunk at least 3L of water/tea today, I kept myself very well hydrated.
  8. Welcome back Mgn! And keep it strong Aqweei! Now that Thanksgiving is out of the way, there's gonna be less temptation around, right? Well, at least until a few weeks! I haven't yet decided if today was a good or a bad day. I had an okay day at work, so meh. As for my goals : 1. Did Ripped in 30 Week 2 (didn't feel like 4 today :s) + 1.05 miles 2. Some snacks (figs). The problem was more about eating too much during dinner. 3. Sleep : I'm going to bed at 11pm, and I have no alarm tomorrow morning (on call tomorrow at work, might be waken up though). It'll give me time to recuperate to "dominate the week" to quote a fellow buddy here on the team As for the reading, I did wonderfully, just finished my book, Bleak House, with an impressive 812 pages on the Kindle (996 on paperback). Ouf. Now I'm thinking of starting "The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy" as my next one, depending on how school goes. Isabelle out!
  9. Hey guys sorry I've been MIA this week, I just had an enormous amount of exams, presentations and essays to hand in, and I barely had time to think about anything else. Let's just say that I've been unwinding last night and tonight (after work of course, no rest for the wicked). 17th : Ok for 1 mile (did Ripped in 30 Week 3 + 1.05 miles), Ok for no snacks, Ok for sleep. Read 13 pages. 18th : Ok for 1 mile (did 1.25 miles), Ok for snacks, A bit low on sleep. No reading. 19th : Ok for 1 mile (Ripped in 30 Week 4 + 1.50 miles), No for snacks, Ok for sleep. No reading. However, I found out that the request I made to get an internship credited because of my research work this summer was accepted, and I'm saving 6 weeks of unpaid work, therefore graduating 6 weeks early! Yay! 20th : Ok for 1 mile (did 3.55 miles), Ok for snacks, Ok for sleep (11pm to 7 am). No reading. 21nd : Ok for 1 mile (did 1.15 miles), No for snacks, Very low on sleep because of cramming for exam + presentation (12am to 6am). Read about 50 pages. 22nd : Ok for 1 mile (did 2 miles with hills), No for snacks, Sort of okay for sleep (11.40pm to 7am). Read about 30 pages. 23rd : Ok for 1 mile (did 1.25 miles), No for snacks (having a hard time with food), Sort of okay for sleep (11.40 pm to 7am). Read about 70 pages. Today : Did 1.25 miles. No for snacks (oh oh no), Going to bed in 10 minutes so okay for sleep (11.20 pm to 7am). Read about 50 pages. To sum up : - I managed to do at least 1 mile everyday. However, that tended to make me think it was okay not to do a more thorough workout. In my defense, school was crazy. I shouldn't use excuses though. - Pretty bad on the snacking. School stress + pressure + lack of sleep = lots of eating. Damn. I'm hoping to catch myself up and get back on to normal tomorrow. - I'm really tired, I've slept less lately for obvious reasons. Again, I need to get to bed earlier. Reading : Not so bad, I'm more than halfway done on my book. I'm reading much slower than usual because it's on the Kindle, and it's in English (I usually read in French, and the vocabulary on Bleak House is very elaborate), but I'm satisfied by my rate. I'm hoping to finish it tomorrow, and start a new one monday.

  11. There's actually not much of a difference in my energy levels. I've been a bit sleep-deprived lately, so I think it's slowly coming back. However, last night didn't really help. Coming home from work, I watched a movie and then proceeded to exercise. Considering it's Ripped in 30 Week 3 (about 30 minutes) plus my 1.05 mile (15 minutes), and waiting around to cool-down, it took me a lot of time before being able to go to sleep. 1. Exercised Ripped in 30 Week 3 + 1.05 miles 2. I was hungry at 11pm (my dinner was at 5.30 pm) and I had just finished exercising, so I took a cup of raspberries and a dried fig. Fruit, so I am okay on that goal. 3. Umm. Well I went to bed at 12.15 am, and woke up at 8, so I sort of still had 7h45 of sleep, but not at the hours I'm aiming for. Life : Lol. I read a chapter, 13 pages. I probably won't have time today either, big research article to write. I'm almost at 50% of my book, and I hope to finish it before friday.
  12. Hey guys I hope you're all doing well! As for yesterday, I guess we could consider it a mixed success. I barely managed to fit in my 1 mile, I had to do it at 10.15 pm (I did 1.15 miles). As a result, I went to bed much later, so at 11.45 pm, but I woke up an hour later too at 7.45 am, so I still got my 8 hours of sleep. For the eating part of my goals, technically I did snack after my dinner. However, I was stuck at school from 7 in the morning to 7.30 in the evening, and did not bring enough food. When I got home, I took a Cliff Bar (love those), 2 figs and a hot chocolate (cocoa powder + splenda). While I did snack between meals, I consider that the fact that each meal was 350 calories (so very low) a big factor in there because I was still hungry. I was 550 calories under my daily goal of 1660 cal, to give you an idea. Anyway, I'm out here justifying myself because I'm not sure if I should count it a success of not. I could've taken a better snack than that. For the reading, I got about 70 pages, I'm now at 42% of my book (Kindle gives you percentages, how cool).
  13. Ok, so what happened yesterday : - 1.05 miles + Ripped in 30 Week 3 - No snacks - In bed by 11pm - Read about 70 pages. Success for all 4.
  14. Better to rest a day then to be injured for 7 days. I did ok yesterday, 1.05 miles of walking but not my regular workout. I also didn't snack between meals, but ate a big dinner (barely ok with calorie goal), and I went to bed at 11pm (till 6.45 am, so ok). I also read about 30 pages of my book. Kind of ok, but I so didn't work hard enough on my essay, I'm a bit disappointed.
  15. Eheh I'd love to but Duty Calls! And by duty I mean school and lots of essays...
