  1. Oh, absolutely. He's a stocky, bald, bearded dude. With a parasol. There will be pictures. XD
  2. I think this question answers itself on a site like NF. XD But yes! My husband and I are actually going to Emerald City Comic Con to meet Jewel Staite, and he's crossplaying as a male version of Kaylee... yeah, it's weird. I think he just wanted a pretty parasol. I'm gonna go as Jayne. My hat is cunning.
  3. Offer to cook! I know when I was living with my folks, they always appreciated it when I helped out with meals. Even if it's only a couple of time a week, it's still an improvement. If you think you don't have time because you're out during the day, try a crockpot. It's a lifesaver, and it will make enough food to serve several people. Something else to keep in mind is to let your family know about your goals. You might be surprised how much just saying something could motivate them to be healthier too.
  4. Also, we all love .gifs here. Just so you know. Who doesn't?
  5. EMERALD CITY! I actually came to this thread for the title, but I stayed for the ECCC. =D Also the Zelda. You and I could be friends. *nod* I'm also in the Academy (same name and avatar in the forums) and I agree...there's much more here. So welcome! Look forward to seeing you around.
  6. Brought the new dog home today! =D He's a celebrity, apparently. There are people at the pet stores who recognize him from volunteering at the shelter.

  7. So excite! My husband and I are finally in a position (and an apartment) that allow us to adopt a dog. It will be our first dog as a married couple, but I always had dogs growing up. I love dogs, and I've been waiting for this all year. XD. We're picking this guy up tomorrow. His name is SHAZAM!
  8. I'm currently reading through the first book in the "Ranger's Apprentice" series, as recommended by someone here! So far, I really enjoy it. I just started reading it yesterday, and I only have a few chapters left, so it's been devoured.
  9. Since I need something to help me re-focus, I'm using my doctor as motivation. I have a follow up appointment in 4 weeks, and I'll be damned if I don't lose at least 5 pounds by then. >:|

  10. Woot! Put down the deposit on a nicer apartment, and we're signing papers on Friday! =D So glad to be getting out of our current situation... AND I can finally adopt the dog I've been wanting. <3

  11. Did something similar for a Bowl game in college. Who knew it could get so cold off the Mississippi river? >.< We typically had the opposite problem. North Texas marching camps in the summer. Every year, we had a handful of freshman pass out from the heat because they weren't prepared for it.
  12. Hello, fellow nerds! Just curious to see if anyone is going to Emerald City Comic Con at the end of March. Our passes just came in, and I'm stoked. It'll be my first con, so I'm looking forward to seeing everything that goes on. Maybe we could even have an NF meetup somewhere at the con, assuming everyone isn't too busy geeking out.
  13. It's so true. I haven't been in marching band for years now, and my calves are still solid. I'm gonna email Steve and have him add "Roll-step" to the list of body weight exercises. ...high knee marching is an entirely separate beast. ._.
  14. Marching band calves...completely forgot about those. Nothing like lugging around a giant hunk of metal while maintaining your posture. We had better calves than most of the athletes.
  15. *adds to list of goals* Take pictures of abs for all the internet pervs. Got it. That's...actually really good motivation. Gonna go workout now.
  16. This is my favorite. You should have acted all panicked and started shouting about an "accident in the lab," and how everyone should get as far away as possible. Mass panic is fun. XD
  17. D: I'm sorry, don't hate me. ;-; You can blame my hips and thighs for that. I'm pretty sure they just steal all the belly fat. <.< *blushes* Well now I'm just embarrassed. I...don't have visible abs. YET. I'm working on it. Gotta get the BF% down some more.
  18. ...Considering my Saturday workout is 5 hours of LARP now...I would say that's the dorkiest thing I've worn. Full rogue costume. Oh yes.
  19. I joined the rebellion almost 2 months ago, and it has been extremely helpful. It's nice having the extra support from the NF team, plus all the modules that come with it give you some really great pointers. It's flexible, and the "level up" feature is addicting. XD I think the best part is, that $99 is a one time charge, and then you have it forever. That's a pretty sweet deal. Since joining, I did my ONE month measurements, and my waist was down 3 inches. I've NEVER seen results like that, and I almost cried. XD So worth it.
  20. I've always been pretty proud of my overall "shape." I have a nice hourglass figure, and no matter how much weight I lose or gain, the shape stays pretty much the same. I also think that if I keep up the work I've been putting in, I could be one of those people with visible abs because my stomach is one of the last places I gain weight and one of the first places to lose it. Which is sweet. And then my eyes are probably my favorite. They're a really neat shade of grayish blue. My whole family has blue eyes, except my dad who has green. My mom, brother, and sister all have dark blue eyes, and I got a good mix of my mom's and dad's, resulting in a sweet light blue-gray color.
  21. So...I LARPed for the first time ever today, and holy cow. I think I found my new Saturday fun workout. It was a lot more fun than I expected, and I'm really tired and sore. Plus, we got to see someone fall off a ledge and into the river. (She's okay now though) :3

That sounds like so much fun! I've always wanted to do a LARP but there are not really any around me :/

It was so fun. x3 I didn't realize it was so big in my area... if you're looking, honestly the best place to check would be Facebook. I found 3 extra groups just by searching for LARP groups around my city. And they were all super nice.

  22. So about a month ago, I joined the NF Academy, and I've still been taking advice from here, and I can't tell you how excited I am after this one month. Was it perfect? No. Was there progress? It was hard to tell until I took progress pics and measurements! My weight had fluctuated so much this past month that I was starting to think all my changes were for nothing... Then I took these. My measurements were the most exciting part. I lost an inch and a half on my neck Two and a half inches on my chest Three inches off my waist And about half an inch on each thigh That's a grand total of 8 inches! Amazing! I was getting down on myself because it was really hard to see my progress. (I'm always hard on myself... I mean, it's only been a month...) but holy cow! I feel better, I'm more confident at work, and I have a TON of energy. I've been taking shelter dogs out for walks and to run in the yards to help expend my extra energy. I've even convinced my husband to take his measurements this time and he's helping me build a plyo-box so I can start my parkour journey, which I never thought would happen. If anything, this progress renews my motivation, and soon, I hope to have the confidence to post my progress pictures. :3 I just wanted to share because I've always had a hard time with my weight, and now that I'm not focusing on that, and focusing on living a healthier lifestyle, I'm seeing changes. Feels good. X3
  23. Majora's Mask 3D. All day. Even on my lunch breaks at work.
  24. A few years ago, my husband (then boyfriend) got me a plusle and minun shirt for Valentine's Day. Last year, it didn't fit, and I was very sad. Guess what I'm wearing right now? Hellz yeah. x3

  25. Since I've been having trouble getting up to do my 15 minute morning walk, I've decided to volunteer at the shelter. :3 I love dogs, and I want to adopt one, but I'm not currently able to. So I'll go help shelter animals and get my walk in. Win-win!

First time today. It's well worth it. I get my puppy-fix and we both get exercise and fresh air. :3
