  1. OK, so I joined up about 2 months ago during the last challenge, and then forgot about the site. The challenge itself was a FAIL. Outside of here, I've been on the warpath since September. I woke up and decided to change. I cleaned up my eating habits and got active. Here was my intro post... Cut to early December. I finished Insanity Nov 16th. On my final day I weighed 180 lbs and was 18% body fat. My fit test results are below. I was originally planning on hitting P90X after, but my wife decided she wanted to work out with me, but didn't want to start with P90X, she wanted Insanity. We started from the beginning on December 1st and are on day 5 now. My diet is still pretty good, I have slacked off a bit on the food side (still no caffeine or alcohol) and after researching, I'm really closer to a primal diet than a paleo. I need to crack down on that again. Other than that, I use the LoseIt app (look me up! "Jonathan Gagle") to track all my cals and activity, but may double up and post here in my log as well. I love accountability and love to be pushed to get better, stronger and faster.
  2. This is old, but I just came back and wanted to close it out. I will be starting a new challenge when the next one rolls around after Christmas. I obviously won't be awarding myself any points, regardless of results. Here are the goals I set for myself... GOAL #1 Run 5k Nonstop [sTA +3, STR +1] RESULTS: Was not able to test myself, however I'm fairly certain I made it. GOAL #2 Get below 18% BF [CHR +4] RESULTS: I did Insanity throughout September and October. I went from 197 to 180 and from 23% BF to 18% BF. Great results, but not under 18%. GOAL #3 Eat zero fast food while at work. 31 Days total. [CON +2, WIS +2] RESULTS: I managed to cut fast food completely at work and 99% of the time outside of work. I also cut MOST dairy and grains, and ALL soda, coffee and alcohol. GOAL #4 Run and survive the B-More Zombie Run 5k (28 Oct) [DEX +3] RESULTS: I was not able to do the Zombie run due to the hurricane. I will definitely be doing one next year and possibly a Spartan Race as well. Overall, I'm really happy with myself and am just starting round 2 of Insanity. working on getting down to 15% BF and eating even cleaner than before. Can't wait to jump into the next challenge. In the meantime, I'm looking forward to seeing everyone else's results and helping and motivating where I can. As long as I don't forget about this site like last time :\
  3. Thanks for the welcome! I'm still kind of on a modified paleo, but really loving the new diet, although it drives me nuts sometimes when I really want something, but know its best not to eat it. I've never been a bad eater really, it was just the caffeine combined with little to no water. I love healthy food, always have. Thankfully I was always active when I was in school and had a high metabolism. I just need to get on top of it before it catches up to me. So you're a "Mastermind"? I'm an INFP "Healer". Not too many people put importance in those tests anymore, which is sad. They really help when dealing with people, especially around the workplace.
  4. Ok so there are challenges (6 weeks)...and everyone also has a battle log, which is just an ongoing log including everything from the challenges...and frenzies? What's the deal with the whole frenzy thing? Maybe I missed a post somewhere about it. Anything else I'm missing?
  5. Sorry Jimmie, not used to a fitness forum full of nerds/geeks. I did some of the humors though, just not all. Jak, Thanks!
  6. Spotsylvania here (as in OUT in Spotsylvania), My life is always pretty busy, but if available, I'm up for meetups. Fredericksburg is pretty central for everyone not in the NCR/DMV.
  7. Thanks, EmCee and jimmie! BOHICA is a military originated acronym for "Bend Over, Here It Comes Again". jimmie, l337, or 1337, or leet (meaning Elite), is kinda nerdtype where numbers are sometimes used to replace letters. A 3 for an E or a 7 for a T. It's kinda dumb, but oh well.
  8. It is! I used to use bohica. It's originally a military phrase (along with SNAFU and FUBAR) kind of goes along with my background. I'm also kind of a geek/nerd (obviously or I wouldn't be here so it fits together. Also, more and more people started taking that name so I had to come up with something a little more original. That's a pretty cool idea about him putting it on his back as he swam. I'm honestly a little apprehensive about the R4YL5k. I'm pretty new getting back into fitness and not solidly back into running again so we'll see. Back in '08 it would have been nothing. Or back in my soccer days, no sweat. Today? Not so much.
  9. Thanks! I've gone through phases of fitness and was super skinny with a crazy high metabolism when I was in high school. I've had to pretty much force my body to take on weight in the past. This is the first time I've had to try and cut before building back up. It's been an awesome, but trying at times, experience so far.
  10. I'm new to this and late to the party so bear with me. If I miss something, let me know. STATS Male; 30; 6'0"; 190.4 lbs; 21.5% BF GOAL #1 Run 5k Nonstop [sTA +3, STR +1] GOAL #2 Get below 18% BF [CHR +4] GOAL #3 Eat zero fast food while at work. 31 Days total. [CON +2, WIS +2] GOAL #4 Run and survive the B-More Zombie Run 5k (28 Oct) [DEX +3] EDIT: Since I'm out of the contest to win anyway, and since I have all my nutritional and exercise data since the 24th, I'm going to post it here to catch myself up and for my own tracking purposes.
  11. New here, saw the current 6 week challenge on the main site and came over. Really digging the RPG elements of the whole thing. 6 Weeks ago I was downing 1.5 liters of Mt Dew a day, 3 shots of espresso in the morning, drinking zero water and eating anything that roamed into my view. I was 197.8 lbs, 23-ish% bodyfat and pretty unhappy with myself. I woke up the first Monday in September and decided it was time to change. I have drank absolutely no soda and no coffee since and drink roughly 3/4 to 1 gallon of water a day. I track all of my foods and eat pretty close to a paleo diet now. The whole no grains or dairy thing is pretty hard, although the only dairy I have anymore is cheese. I started Insanity and have only missed a couple of days through the first month. I just started the second month this week. I'm now 188.2 and just under 20% BF (I think. I need to get a caliper. And a tape for that matter. :\) I'm working on my goals to enter the current challenge, although late to the party. I will get some starting pics and measurements up sometime soon. Really looking forward to getting started here. Ask me any questions you may have and if I screw something up, keep me accountable. I welcome it. JG
