  1. I will PM some to you Im a bit cautious of posting pics online. OMG soooo cold - it snowed and settled (snow not uncommon but for it to settle is) SO I walked up and down the hill of doom in the snow as I had appointments in town - so finally got a decent walk in
  2. Yup briefly back in NZ playing show and tell with the baby. Not spending another summer where it is 100 F plus everyday and killer hurricanes, that was not fun. There are soooo many races near san fran - at least one a week. So I need to up my game so I can run a 5km (aim up to 10km) race asap!
  3. Hey just checking in! wow I have some smoothy envy right now after reading your lists! carrot mango protein shake - tell me more. Do you have one of those mega blenders like a nutri bullet or similar?
  4. Im going to be moving to Fairfax (Marlin county?) north of san fran next month - super keen to get involved in running events if anyone knows about some etc
  5. Congrats for SOTW and work! Thanks for posting about Moms run this town - I found one near where Im going to be moving too which should hopefully help me find some running mama buddies
  6. Great work on your triathlon! I can imagine the non timed transitions would be so much more relaxing, I would love to find a race like this. Hope you are feeling better!
  7. In other news Im moving to California near San Fran in a few weeks - off to google events so I have something to aim for, I feel so unfocused without a race in my future. Looking forward to summer, I forgot why I have avoided winter for three years (all the SAD! brrrrr)
  8. OMG desk miles - great work and yes your back is amazing Do you have a background in swimming?
  9. Yarrrr PB love your theme! *waves from my boat as I sail by* OMG running and heat do not mix, great work in the pool I bet that feels amazing.
  10. Quick update! Still here Monday - 1 hour walk with pram Tuesday - 1 hour walk with pram Wednesday - Meditation in bed, did two guided ones, one on body image and one for sleep Thursday - pumpkin weight exercises (yup I used a pumpkin did squats, chest press, arms etc) more meditation, and treated myself to a bath Aims Still need yoga rehab I would like to go for a run but Im still chesty and it has been freezing cold, raining with snow forecast so feel lucky to have got my walks in earlier in the week.
  11. Hey fearless! Just checking in and saying hi How did that dog walk go?
  12. Hello my name is Kiwichick and I have a problem finishing challenges... So Im doing the easiest achievable challenge ever to get me back into the running of well, running. Hatchling and I have been sick this week (boo winter - back to summer in a few weeks!) so Im starting June 16th for 5 week challenge Main aim - finish this challenge positivity breads positivity so achieving something small will lead to bigger better wins. Like running especially pain free running - that is always nice. Aims Run/walk (without baby)- once a week Stretch/yoga -once a week Running rehab (everyones fav clams, calf raises, etc) - once a week Mediation - once a week Long term Aims: Return to running 5 - 10 km a few times a week. Find a race to aim for of easy achievable distance (5 or 10km, or sprint tri) Get back into daily stretching and meditation
  13. What a wonderful race! Congrats Also belated nerdaversary
  14. How is the respawn going? I hope your getting some sleep and your wee man is doing well
  15. Congrats on reaching the 12 w mark! I will have to try that brainwave for mediation app Wow sounds like you kicked some butt with all that stair walking, how did you feel the next day?
  16. Still alive, the tortoise hasnt gone anywhere (no running) limber - not really bulletproof - hell no I ache, my ITB is playing up even though I havent done anything Zen - semi I have decided not to run until I done some proper yoga sessions and hip stabilization or else I will get my self oucher. I have been sick this week with a tummy bug thanks to the wee munchkin who had it first, so I have not been eating properly since and lost way too much weight this week (now below pre baby weight, uggg im getting skinny fat shudder, need to eat more to avoid this and start strength training before I lose more muscle). Family gone now, Mr Kiwi away for the week so its just hatchling and I on the boat. She has not been sleeping at all during the day so not much in any aspect of my life getting done. Hopefully things improve so I can precook some healthy food, get a little yoga in and enjoy a cup of tea. hope everyone elses challenges going well - sorry for the lack of interaction, but you know - hatchling.
  17. Great work on the magic mile and also the jedi mind tricks on yourself for the work out! So much awesome going on
  18. Late happy birthday! I prefer to run without zombies, didnt really work for me. Cool your getting back out there!
  19. the mexicans here LOVE babies and always come up to me for baby chats which is great as Im too shy to start talking myself. I have a sling wrap thingy which is awesome, it soothes her so well. I take her walking everyday in it, but my shoulders are very tense because of it. Wont be running with that but good resistance for walking, no stroller as no room on boat. Currently we have a red tide (ewwwww) and are in a marina so I cant just jump into the ocean like I used to be able to do. But We will be back at anchor soon so plan on getting in the ocean more. Also got my triathlon to think about so swimming is in my future for sure. cómo se dice is my total 'go to' phrase - I need to get a pocket note book to write the words I learn down though as baby brain means I keep forgetting!
  20. Hola! Been super busy with family in town. Week 1 Round up - not as going to plan I as had hoped. But Im learning that with a baby planning is much more difficult and everything takes much longer to do. My knee was troublesome for most of the week so I stuck to walking, turns out when Im relaxing I twist my knee into a funny position putting pressure on the interior ligaments which I have probably been doing for months now not realising which is the source of my problem I think. I am trying hard not to do this (I even caught my self doing it while sitting at my computer desk now!). 1) Be the tortoise not the hare C = 0 (sunday before challenge was a trial, kinda counts) but no biggy as the aim here is to prevent injury and get back into things slowly. If I have to work on walking first this is a win for me not going all out and making things worse. 2) Be Limber A = 2 I did two pretty pathetic strecth sessions - one was in the pool at my mums meet up on saturday which was good. The other was a quick in boat stretch before bed one night as I was in pain. I need to stretch before I am in pain - need to up my game here. 3) Be Zen A = 3 Im used to doing more so this seems weird earning an A grade, Oh iphone apps I love you. I also upgraded the app I fall asleep to (oriental relaxing noises) which has helped wean me off my earplug addiction (cant have those with a baby). 4) Be Bulletproof B = 1 I did some hip work and calf raises, not really a full work out but an introduction. Building up slowly. oh and I also successfully attempted a pull up! Whoop Whoop. my abs still haven't fully healed after splitting during pregnancy so Im not going to do more until I have repaired and strengthened my core. Be Mexican 2 x spanish. No proper lessons or study though mums group chat and I got a CD of spanish music for babies and kids so Im listening and googling lyrics so I can sing some songs in spanish. This week I want to read a news paper and watch a disney film in spanish too. Be Social 2 x different mums n bubs groups. Have family over. Skyped my mum and dad. Things I shall not do! Stress my body - maybe a few too many late nights but not enough exercise yet to be even close. Criticize my post baby body - yup I did but Im working on it. This weeks aim is not to criticize myself in photos. Eat street tacos everyday - I wish I hadnt put this down here! since we have visitors we ate out lots (cheaper faster and easier than cooking) and I had tacos 4 or 5 nights this week. OMG. Feel guilty ever - about that…. In other news! I had a check up with doctor and I have lost 12 kg since birth so am the same weight as I was on my first pregnancy appointment (6w gestation) but my body composition is way different than before! I am planning on entering a triathlon in August so pleased to have some thing to train for Its a nice baby intro tri of 500 yard swim, 6 mile bike and 2 mile run. If only I knew what the heck a mile and a yard was.
  21. Thanks! Day 1: Rest day after yesterdays jog. My inner knee is a bit tender on my left leg, i think I need to be extra careful because of relaxin hormone so need to keep an eye on that. I managed some mediation (54321 relax audio) this morning. Met up with a new group of mums this avo, I really didnt want to go and I was balling my eyes out on the couch but Mr Kiwi made me a cup of tea which cheered me up so I went (but was 30 mins late). Pleased I went, they were lovely and it was great to get some fresh air. They spent about 70% of the time speaking in spanish and I was surprised how much I could understand although I lack the vocabulary to converse back. Might count this towards spanish. I ate well today - but did have street tacos for tea (haha I forgot that was on the list!) but it came with beans, rice, big pile of onion so as far as tacos go were on the good side. I even said no to icecream when someone offered to buy me one. No yoga - plan on that tomorrow.
  22. Congrats Hammi that is such wonderful news! I picked up mediation when I was pregnant and it really improved my quality of life - i hope you find something you like. Your challenge looks great - mindful and focused <3
