  1. Well now that I'm not busy with wedding stuff I'm in for this challenge. Working out and trying to loose weight was put on the back burner leading up to the wedding and now I need to get back on track. My 3 goals for this challenge are: 1. Workout at least 3 days a week. My workout days will be Tuesday, Thursday and at least 1 day on the weekend 2. Make it to week 6 in the Couch to 5K. I started week three this week, in 28 days I hope I be at least starting week 6. I'm not moving up weeks in C25K until I feel comfortable to do. so if it takes over a week to move up then it takes over a week. The biggest thing I am looking for here is to keep a commitment to keep running and trying to improve. 3.be under 270lbs and get back in the habit of tracking my foods on a daily basis. I've been stuck for a while between 275 and 279. This morning i was actually at 279 while last Monday I was at 274and I thought I put in a good week, went to the gym every other day and everything. I need to get back into the habit of tracking my food intake as I think this might have something to do with the weight swings. So I am hoping I can make it through the next 28 days. Good luck to everyone else!
  2. Wow congratulations that's amazing!
  3. Thanks guys! Things are great so far.
  4. First off, today is my 1 year anniversary since I quit smoking. It feels so good to make it through a whole year. When I first quit it seemed like it was going to be a rough year but looking back it was actually easy. The 2nd one is that I got married a week ago on May 22nd! For the past month I have been nothing but busy with wedding plans. Unfortunately that meant working out had to take a back seat. The good news is that the wife and I didn't gain any weight. We didn't always make the best decisions on food for the month and for the last 2 weeks we were eating out a lot more then usual but we didn't fall back and eat fast food or pizza and wings. It was more ordering salads and healthier options from menus. It feels good to know that we didn't resort to our old habits when things were getting stressful. Now that everything is over I am looking forward to this month. With no real commitments to worry about my wife and I can commit to getting back on track with our health. For those interested here are some pics from the wedding http://www.kaz-photos.com/blog/?p=348 Our reception was just epic. We had a polka rock band play who's kinda big in the Buffalo area and always headline Dyngus day here. The band's name is Those Idiots and everyone loved them. Here's thier facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Those-Idiots/26903901665?v=info
  5. lol Have this song in my workout mix. Always seems to come on in the middle of my workout. Love it!

    Wrap ideas

I go with more of a greek souvaki style wrap and use a low-carb tortilla like mission or a whole wheat or soy pita bread. In it I throw: Grilled chicken or marinated Lamb Tips from Trader Joes romaine Lettuce Cucumber Tomato Feta cheese Peperoncini rings For a dressing is usually any oil/vinegar base dressing. Thanks to our aerogarden we always have fresh herbs so we usually make our own which tastes alot better then store bought dressing
  7. That does sound cool to have Thirded
  8. You have to watch regular peanut butter because they contain sugar and hydrogenated oil, aka trans fat. Try out some all natural/organic butters but it may be a trial and error trying to find one that you like. It took me a while but I found one that I like, its Almond Butter with roasted flax seeds from Trader Joe's. Remember that like nuts, nut butters are high in fat, but its the unsaturated good fat.
  9. I quit last June, here are my smoke free stats from a free program called QuitTime http://www.mwilden.com/QuitTime/index.html Its a nice way to track how long you've gone. 10months 1weeks 3days smoke-free. 4,717 cigs not smoked. 2weeks 2days, 9:05 life saved. $1,650.95 saved Like jacoblee I used drugs to quit. My doc prescribed Bupropion, an anti-depressant/stop smoking drug. I got the vivid dreams for the first few weeks from then on I was fine. After almost 2 months I started forgetting to take the pills daily but never really had an urge to start smoking so I stopped taking the pills and haven't looked back since. One month after I stopped smoking I started going to the gym and doing more physical activity, biking, running/walking pretty much stuff I couldn't do, or didn't want to do when I was smoking which I think helped just as much in me quitting as the drugs did. I also kept tweeting about not smoking, I would give weekly updates to make myself accountable for my friends and family and followed @quitnet and @Legacyforhealth that kept reminding me why it's important to quit.
  10. I go to Bally's 2-3 times a week. During the week its in the evening after work. On the weekends I try to make it there by 10AM but usually before noon.
  11. I try and do the eat 6 times a day or at least when I start to get hungry when I started watching what I eat and tracking my foods when I started to loose weight. Figure I went from 2-3 meals a day, which would be, skip breakfast, go large through the fast food drive thru for lunch and then a huge dinner. It took a while for my body to adjust but now with eating the smaller meals I feel like I have more, sustained energy throughout the day. I never get that overate, food coma in the afternoons at work anymore where I would just want to take a nap. Now I can just eat a handful of almonds and feel satisfied. I think it just depends on the person and what they are eating to depend on whats going to work for them 3 meals vs. 6 meals. Personally I wouldn't go back to the 3 meals a day. I think it would just lead me to overeating. But everyone is different
  12. Glad to have found this site some great information on the site. I'm 29 IT Tech here in Buffalo. I've started loosing weight and exercising more back in July when I stepped on the scale and it said I was 300.6 lbs. I've never been that heavy before and was disgusted with myself. The month before I gave up smoking and told myself if I can do that then I can loose weight also. Today I'm 25 lbs lighter, still smoke free (8months woot!), engaged (May 22nd is the big day), going to a gym and have enjoyed running. Something that the 300lbs pack-a-day person I used to be would have never have done. I started slowly, first with Wii fit then EA Active then to the gym and started running after christmas. The bad thing is that since Christmas I haven't been really able to keep a workout schedule with marriage plans and life events getting in the way but the good thing is that my weight has stayed the same. Now that pretty much everything is planned out for the wedding things have started to slow down I can get back into going to the gym. I'm calling this the "Workout Reboot". Before I still didn't keep a good workout schedule and I was still learning how to workout, what my limits in weightlifting, what and what not to do etc. With this reboot I'm going to really keep to a solid workout schedule and build on what I've learned so far in loosing weight. From what I've read so far on this site, I think this place is really going to help me out. Thanks!
