  1. I hope everyone is doing well in their own challenges. Today is technically day 4 in a row of working out. I am waiting for my eggs to cook. I didn't want to get up (at 5:30...) this morning because I am so tired. My whole body is sore, I can't even lift my arms or go up stairs without groans of protest from my body. But then I opened my eyes to hit snooze, and saw my motivation hanging by my bed.....and now I am up, even if begrudgingly, and in my workout clothes, about to start my day strong. whoo!
  2. This is good advice. So far I have just been modifying the moves/going slower if I can't do some of the crazy stuff they are. Now my whole body hurts from soreness, not just my back..../harumph
  3. So week one for me actually went really well overall. I managed to prioritize my goals and not get down on myself when I knew I needed to concede in some areas. With a little reorganization for this upcoming week, I am confident. I also have lost 5 pounds, which is great I haven't re-measured anything, but I plan to do that at the halfway point, then again at the finish. 1.) I did not get workouts in this week. I did try the first 2 days, but still was experiencing pain in my back. Rather than push myself and re-injure myself, I went to the chiropractor, got some help, and have been feeling exponentially better. The rest of the challenge I plan to maintain my original goal of working out 5 days a week. 2.) Working on this 3.) I actually surprised myself a lot with how well I stuck to this! I can count on one hand the entire amount of cheats I had whether with a snack or a meal. I made paleo friendly dinners every night, except for Friday. We had a pretty rough week, so we went out for sushi. There was also some popcorn and a doughnut that snuck in there, (seriously though, I was really proud of how well I maintained this goal!) but I have to credit my wonderful, ever supportive husband for really pinch hitting a few dinners where I was exhausted and running out of steam. A few little peek at one of the entrees featured at the Sprene house this week: That would be delicious shepherd pie, entirely paleo, from Eat Well. As for reading Starting Strength, I am working my way through it slowly. It's a bit of a dry read, but I want to be able to start weightlifting for my next challenge, so I will keep trekking through that. Also, a special thanks to Spezzy, Staci. I appreciate her sharing her story, and I have her picture hanging on my fridge, by my bed, and my just over my scale, to inspire me as I continue on in this challenge. We are all in this together!! (the Ginger Ale is the hubby's)
  4. One week down...5 to go!

  5. I had a solid day of good eating, and tonight I made delicious Paleo Beef Stir Fry. Recipe from Practical Paleo. It was seriously so delicious. Even my husband was a fan Day One: Success.
  6. Challenge Day One Tomorrow! Whoo!!

  7. Phew!! Here We goooo

  8. Hey folks. This is my (Sprene) second attempt at a 6 week challenge, but right after the second day last go-round I injured my back while working. I am doing better now, so for now I plan to get back on the horse and go for it! Many of my goals will be similar to before, with a few tweaks. My goals! 1.) I will be following a workout routine 5 days a week of either my Zumba DVD's or my PINK Method. I know this seems ambitious, but the workouts are only between 20-40 minutes depending on which I do. I hope to actually up it to 6 days a week, but I am starting with 5. 2.) I will lose 8-10 lbs. I know that this is possible if I am very dedicated. I gained weight (like most of us) back over the holidays, and weight loss is a priority. 3.) I want to eat less processed foods, and begin getting my body properly fueled to get healthy. I plan to follow a primarily paleo diet 5 out of 7 days a week. I will not be entirely cutting out dairy, (ie: butter and cheese) so if this isn't entirely paleo I can edit this. I hope to maintain it even on off days, but I think if I have at least 1 day a week where I can maybe eat some toast or breakfast pancakes, the rest of the week will be much more attainable for me. My Life Goal for this challenge is to finish reading the book Starting Strength. I do want to start weight training, and if I get to that during this challenge, sweet! If not, I want to at least finish the book and get a game plan going. Staci's Story seriously had been my inspiration for over 6 months, and I want to look like her, so I figure it makes sense to try to get to a point that I can train like her. My starting Point: I am currently 165lbs and 5'9" and have no real "workout" experience such as lifts, etc. Chest: 42" Waist: 30" Hip: 42" Thigh: 23" Here's to 6 Weeks! (Also if anyone can answer, when I update, do I just reply to my own post, or do I start a new thread for every update?)
  9. Making Preparations.

  10. Is anyone else dying for a big fat cookie right now? Kill me....no. Scratch that. Day 2, you are my beyotch. (sorry, I have a major headache which I think is lack of caffeine related since I only got to have some coffee this morning then water the rest of the day)
  11. It's okay, yesterday I cracked and ate 2 oreos. lol. Just keep going. I maintained all my other eating goals yesterday, and today I am doing well
  12. Awesome! Nice to have everyone! And silly question, but is there an actual "group" (besides the googledoc) that I need to sign up for to be in this or just replying to our thread? Apologies....to be honest, there will be lots of these type questions from me. <<<<<bit of an interweb noob
  13. Sweet goals! One suggestion for the running is maybe check out C25K? It's a program for people who want to start running, not sure if you have read about it at all. I'm excited you are on our team!! As someone else who really struggles to drink water, maybe try some flavored waters like La Croix? I drink that when I am wanting soda, and while it's certainly not the same, it sometimes kinda tricks my brain. Good luck on your goals, we are all here for you!!!
  14. Isabelle welcome! Excited to have you as a part of the team, and your goals look awesome. I'm a student also right now, so I can totally relate to the sleep and snacking thing, especially around exam time.....oofta! Can't wait to watch you reach your goals!
