  1. For the rest of this week, I am coming to the end of my planning phase. I am putting the finishing touches on my "map". I have figured out where I'm starting by writing down measurements of where I am now. My ultimate goals, or "destination" look like this: 1. Effortlessly maintain a mindful primal diet 2. Complete a muscle up 3. Do both a forward and a backward flip 4. Do a 3ft vertical jump 5. Do a 10ft long jump 6. Complete a 300lb deadlift 7. Complete a 120lb Clean & Press (projected bodyweight) 8. Complete a handstand pushup 9. Do the splits both side and center I know it's a lot, but I believe I can do it if I start small. Now, I don't plan on doing that this challenge. My challenge this challenge is to do my challenge. But these are my ultimate goals. This is what I want to look like when I'm happy with where I am. And it's my roadmap for my ultimate destination which will help me find which points along the way to go. This will be what my challenges in the future will work toward.
  2. Days 2&3: Get a guide I have a group of companions online to help me. I also signed up for parkour classes. In addition, I went ahead and enrolled in the Nerd Fitness Academy between those things, I think I shan't be alone for this challenge. I've got my guide. Food and exercise still good. Next step, have a map.
  3. oopsie, double post
  4. This is play?
  5. The assassins are taking over.
  6. What's this about reading to nephews?
  7. Oh, and I'm going to dedicate this week to "getting ready" for the challenge. I will still stick to the diet and exercise, but because I decided last minute to do this challenge and because my husband is out of town this week, I won't be doing parkour or exercising quite as much as in the following weeks. I will still follow through with everything else, though.
  8. How To Start an Adventure Day 0: Start with a quest - this is described above. Day 1: Pack provisions - I have printed out a Whole30 portion guide, I've gathered ingredients to eat for the week. I am working on getting a bulk discount for parkour classes. I've taken my yoga gear out of storage and all my workout clothes are hanging up and in view. I got some new parkour kicks and I've downloaded the HabitRPG android app onto my phone. Provisions are a go. In the meantime, I have kept well to Whole30, I have done some dancing just for fun in my living room with the kids twirling around me and I've gone up 1 whole level in HabitRPG just today. And right now I'm fulfilling my NF commitment. So far, so good!
  9. I need proof that you're alive.
  10. I love this challenge! I want to steal your challenge.
  11. PARKOUR RACE! I'm loving it. I was thinking of working on my lateral jumps, maybe I'll include those.
  12. Thanks! Link to my new challenge at the bottom!
  13. I know, I know. Lately I've been kinda sucking at the whole Challenges thing. I mean, I've been doing them (kinda) but I have been feeling like updating is more of a burden than a help. But I think that’s because I was making it that way in my mind. Something I had to do. Something that was making it worse instead of better. So this time, I’m going to challenge myself to finish this challenge. And I’m going to do it my way. A few weeks ago, I wrote two articles on my blog about becoming the hero of your own story. I lay down step by step how to receive, work on, and complete a quest. Most of this comes from past experience put together in my own brain. Some of it comes from many stories, movies and video games that I have loved over the years. Thought I wrote the blog and worked hard on it, I have not exactly done this step by step according to what I have written. So now I’m going to do it. I’m going on a quest. And my quest is to complete this challenge. The trophy includes the completion of the following things: 1. Whole30 - (I’m on day 10 at the start of the challenge, so more like a Whole52) complete with portion control. 2. Movement - Again, according to my own philosophy, I will focus on what I love to do and what I love to do is to move. Not just any kind of movement, but graceful, fluid, beautiful movement. Like River Tam. So, I will take classes that will allow me to practice moving like that. Parkour 3x/wk plus dance, yoga, and martial arts. 3. HabitRPG - There’s a website called HabitRPG. This is basically a way of gamifying your to-do list. I’ve already gotten into the habit of doing GTD and the system works great, but this app takes things to the next level. I would like to be on level 15 by the end of the challenge. 4. NF involvement - Part of the reason I don’t update much is because I don’t involve myself into the community enough. So I would like to make it part of my challenge - as a way of completing the challenge - to check out other threads, do the mini-challenges and help out others where I can. I will set aside some time every day to do so and to update my own challenge. There isn’t anything fancy going to happen. No stories. Probably not too many gifs. But I will keep you updated on where I am at becoming the hero of my own story. Because I will be the hero this time. I won’t settle for less.
  14. I'm a terrible person. I just gave up on this. Not the challenge. I think I did pretty well. But I've been terrible at updating. I decided last minute to do a challenge. I was going to skip the next one, but I think I'm ready for a new one. I'll have to see where it takes me. Start off slow. Thanks everyone. And thanks MadHatter for the words about my blog!
  15. Turns out that the pics with me in it except for one came out blurry. Last time I ask a 14 year old to take them I guess. I have a few more though. Yeah, I sing the theme song when I see my thread as well.
  16. Thank you all for being so supportive! I've been doing super well with my food. I've been eating mostly healthy. about 80% healthy which is awesome. Yummy pineapple. As for fitness, I've been a rock star. Last 2 weeks I've done all sorts of things and have made it a habit to work hard. Today, I did an 8 hour parkour session in 100+ degree heat index. I survived, though I did get heat exhaustion at the end. But I pushed myself harder than I've ever pushed myself before. Today was more difficult than doing the half marathon I did last year. I'm so tired, but it was so worth it. Pics to come.
  17. I'm here, I'm here. Twice I updated and twice, the forum ate my update. I've been doing well, but I'm getting frustrated with the forums and my computer.
