  1. Tracked food for Tuesday and clocked 7.5 billable hours. Not going to do so hot on hours today, but did attend crossfit and am tracking.
  2. Tracked food Monday and attended crossfit. Other goals start today.
  3. Greetings, all! It's been a while since I've done a challenge, and even longer since I've been an adventurer. I was a Druid for a long time and dappled with the Scouts for a challenge. Now I'm back at my roots. This is going to be a 5 week challenge for me, as the 6th week I'll be away! My main goal is to become more confident both in work and in fitness. I'm not nearly as good of a worker as I should be, and I frequently end up being less than productive because I'm unwilling to ask for help. I started crossfit a month ago but still avoid exercises that I know I can't complete or can't complete well because I'm afraid of looking foolish. I'm not badly out of shape, just not as good of shape as most of the others there. I know I need to focus more on myself and just doing what I can, but I tend to get disheartened and intimidated. My specific fitness goals: Attend CrossFit at least 3 times a week.Track everything I eat during the weekMy work/life goals: Track at least 6 hours of work a dayCommit 1 hour a week to work researchBonus: Stop biting my nails! I had stopped biting my nails but when work and life got too stressful I broke back into the habit again. So going to break it again!
  4. Update #7 I don't know what changed, but I've fallen out of the habit of going to the gym in the morning. I'm going to force myself to go tomorrow just so I don't completely lose it. On the bright side, I've attended yoga twice a week faithfully and I'm planning on adding a new yoga gym and extra yoga classes to my schedule. I absolutely love yoga so this is a good replacement since I haven't been lifting or running. On a good note, I've done a fabulous job avoiding bad foods at work and home. I'm hoping to start seeing some progress in the next week or so weight wise. And I've been doing a little better with the gratefulness. Today I had a moment where I finally felt like I knew what I was doing at my job and that I would succeed in it after all. Before now, I'd been very uncertain. I love yoga. I guess I really am at home with the Druids.
  5. Update #6: Wow I really went a while without updating! Way to go me. After my yoyo-ing of exercising and not, I did very well this week and feel like I should continue doing well, even though I had an emotional setback, re-realizing that I'm the heaviest I've ever been. As a result I had to really start concentrating on my diet if I ever want to look better. I've done well the last two days; I didn't eat a single snack at work, whereas I usually down at least four Nutrigrain bars and multiple pieces of candy. I'm also changing up my routine. I realized I'm really sick of running and don't particularly enjoy it. I'm going to try and still do it once or twice a week but I'm also going to do something else in its place. It's just a matter of figuring something else to do...
  6. Just wanted to say you're awesome and I'm glad to see you are staying strong 4 weeks into the challenge!!
  7. Update #5 So unfortunately my update today isn't quite as good as the previous ones. The day I posted my last update I had missed my first workout which turned into a string of workouts. On Friday I woke up from some terrible nightmares and ended up falling back asleep till I had to get up for work. Saturday was my 5k. Sunday is always my day off. Over the weekend I got some pretty bad sunburn so I skipped my workout Monday morning; I was afraid that a sports bra would aggravate my back too much and I was still fatigued. Now, this morning, I was supposed to run and it was raining. Overall, didn't have a great week! But I'm going to get back to the gym tomorrow morning and get back on track with my workout routine =) I haven't missed any yoga classes - I always go Tuesday and Thursday nights. And starting at the end of the month I'm going to start having a tennis boot camp on Sundays. Being busy is the best! I've been doing better with being grateful. Or I should say that I'm still very aware of it. I need to keep working harder, especially at my job and at keeping up with my workout schedule! (And at updating on my progress!)
  8. Good to "see" you again! How is Scoutland? It's pretty easy once you get in the habit of it... I'll happily accept the title of "robodruid". It has a nice ring to it =) In response to both, I did run but it was crummy. I had very little motivation and walked a lot more than I usually do. It was really fun, but I think I'm just a little "raced out", so I'm glad I have a break until late October =)
  9. Update #4 Not really sure what's been going on, but I missed my run again this morning. I had the first massage of my life last night and I was absolutely exhausted after, I went to bed earlier than I usually do and still couldn't get out of bed at 6am. I ended up sleeping in till 7 again. I don't know if I'm just tired or what but I need to do better next week! Tomorrow I'm going to the gym just for some fun Fitocracy quest doing, like vertical jumps and crunches for points instead of my usual heavy weight lifting. Since I haven't really run this weekend I don't have high hopes for Saturday but I don't want to be fatigued regardless. Today I'd say I did pretty good about not being an ingrate! I had a bad morning at work but pulled it together after lunch and ended up learning a lot and doing very well. So that's great! I need to quit snacking at work, however. There is an endless supply of Nutrigrain bars and I've been downing them like they're candy... Also also, I took my measurements about a month ago and will again this Sunday. Hopefully I'll see a little improvement! =)
  10. This is awesome! I was in the Scouts last challenge, so this may be a slight conflict of interest =P Also, QUESTION: should we add a different line each day we have something to add, or should we just keep adding to our individual line? It's a lot more detailed to have each individual day but it'd be a lot cleaner to have each participant only have one line.
  11. 1. Awesome job on the 4 mile run. 2. Yoga is the bomb. 3. I keep forgetting to mention that I play tennis frequently - this makes me laugh because you play badminton. We really are like non-sibling twins. 4. You're kicking butt this challenge.
  12. I love this idea! Audio books are great. I've been considering getting one to listen to on longer car rides. I also function WAY better on a schedule so I can absolutely understand how that would be hugely beneficial to you. I also also like the idea of your dietary reset - as a veteran of the Whole 30 I think they can do a lot of good for any person. Keep being positive! Every challenge is an awesome learning experience and you'll only be stronger as a result.
  13. Thanks Eve! Great to be back. I run or lift every morning at 6:15am before work. It's actually pretty easy now that I'm on my fourth week of doing it. I just tell myself that I sincerely have nothing else to do at that time in the morning, whereas I can always find something else to do in the evening! Update #3 It probably is needless for me to say that I'm terrible about updating but I have been doing a pretty fantastic job with my two goals. I have been at the gym or running every day I should have been, with the exception of this morning - I was supposed to run but when I woke up I just felt crummy so instead I slept in for another hour before going to work. Since I do a ton of work outs throughout the week, I think it's reasonable that when my body tells me, hey I need a day/workout off, I'm going to listen to it. I added two nights of yoga to my schedule, on Tuesday and Thursday nights. I just got back from one actually. It feels great to be back doing heated vinyasa. I'm doing slightly better at being grateful. I realized on my way home from vinyasa tonight that I really do have quite a pleasant life. I work full-time at a good job, go to the gym or run every morning, do yoga twice a week, and tomorrow I'm getting my first ever massage. I've been doing a bit better at work too since trying to be more grateful and a harder worker. I think it's starting to help too... Off to a great start!
  14. Update #2 So far so good! I have been at the gym or running every day this week at around 6:15am. That isn't to say that my workouts themselves have been great - I'm still stuck at a deadlifting wall that I can't seem to break. I skipped them all together today because I just didn't have the heart to do it. I'll get back to them Monday. I'm trying to be grateful, but I'm finding it hard, especially at work. I'll have to keep focusing on working harder.
  15. Hey Wandern! Love your goals. It is absolutely easier to get up early when you do it EVERY day. That's the only way I can get up and get my workout in before work, so I'm with you there! Also, that 7 1/2 hour mark is (for me at least) the perfect amount of sleep. Out of curiosity what do you do about parking when the weather is bad? Last summer I had to park a mile away from my internship, and I could take the shuttle or walk, so obviously I took the shuttle when it rained. You're going to do great this challenge, keep us posted!
  16. I didn't even realize QUITE how cute that gif was when I posted it but now I can't stop watching it! That's interesting. I have to run sprints/intervals twice a week because otherwise I just run at my slow, plodding pace. How do you know that you're running faster? Or how do you push yourself to?
  17. I'm so happy that we're reunited!! Your goals are AWESOME. I hope that not counting calories, specifically, allots you some freedom in your average day in a way that obsessively counting does not. I always do "better" eating when I count calories too, but for me it's too exhausting to do all the time and I end up giving up and crashing. Your 5k stats are already pretty good.. I can just about run a 35 minute 5k but my average pace when I go for a run is a lot slower. So you'll be my inspiration to keep trying to run faster =) Running buddies again! What is your running schedule like? Sprints, long runs, etc. Keep it up!
  18. YES! I've missed you too! I'll go check out your thread shortly. I was a Druid for 3 challenges and then masqueraded as a Scout while I was running =) they were very encouraging! Update #1: might as well start off strong Went to the gym yesterday and ran today. Both were lackluster. I've hit a bit of a wall with my deadlifts since trying to switch to a mixed grip for my work sets from a double overhand. I know I can lift around 170lb pretty easily (still in noob gains) but with a mixed grip I can't even pull 135lb regularly. Something about it just throws me off. Today's run was supposed to be my 4.25 mile run that got rained out on Saturday. I was running for about a mile and a half when I just had really bad indigestion and couldn't continue. So I got about 2 in. I'll have to do my 4.25 run on Thursday or push my increments back a week. I'm trying to do one longer run a week and increase it by .25 each week. This run would normally happen Saturday or Sunday. I haven't done so well being grateful this morning but at least I'm conscientious of it. I want to work harder at my job that I am very thankful to have. I'm just in training now but this is my chance to learn a lot and get into the habit of working hard. Unrelated to my goals, but I'm also trying to essentially cut the word "sorry" from my vocabulary. Women always say sorry when they really have no reason to; I saw a commercial on Youtube that I actually really liked demonstrating just how often women say sorry and how they can use different words for the same effect. So that's another half goal for me.
  19. Ah I'm so happy to be rejoining the Druids for this challenge!! Last challenge I was in the Scouts to try and help motivate my daily running. It went well for a few weeks, and then I moved to a new place and my schedule completely changed again. As a result I'm back on a steady workout schedule that I am loving: Monday, Wednesday, Friday weight lifting and Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday running. So now that I'm back with my Druid fellows, my goals are going to be focused on keeping a steady schedule and being mindful and appreciative of everything I have. Goal #1: Keep my regular workout schedule -This one is pretty easy (in theory). In six weeks time, I still want to have a regular workout schedule, even if it changes a little bit in the meantime. I'm okay with missing a day or two if necessary or if a workout doesn't go well, I just want to keep working out regularly and still be in 6 weeks time. Goal #2: Be appreciative -I realize that I am much less grateful for all the great things I have than I should be. So the other part of my challenge is going to be to be appreciative. This means not making excuses for anything and not complaining (within reason). And that's it! I'm contemplating starting a Whole30 on August 1st, so if I do that I'll add that as a goal. I'm keeping it simple in favor of establishing habits. I also am going to a yoga class tomorrow, so here's to hoping that also becomes a part of my regular schedule!! Cheers!
  20. (Oh, I'm also moving back over to the Druids for this challenge, so if anyone wants to catch up that's where you'll find me! Thanks for all of the support this challenge!!)
  21. I realize this is a little late but I'm going to try and summarize what was ultimately a successful challenge for me. I stopped running everyday when I moved but instead started up with 3 days a week of running and 3 days of lifting weight. I'm in heaven! Snacking got terrible when I started work - we have an endless supply of candy and Nutrigrain bars! Finally, my productivity has been AWESOME. So overall I succeeded in this challenge (even though I was terrible about updates..) On to the next one!
  22. Update #6 PHEW, I have been busy recently! I fell out of my running habit, what with moving and then trying to get my apartment together. Then I had a 5k in Philadelphia, was in Philadelphia the next day, and then NYC the night after. Needless to say, I was wiped out. Now I'm starting to get into a routine though it's still tricky with a lot of back and forth between houses. However, I start work Monday, so my routine will settle in then. In happier news, I ran again today! My apartment complex is beautiful and flat - it's basically runner's paradise. Snacking find of fell by the wayside along with running BUT I've been mostly snacking on fruit and nuts so I'm not going to completely fail =) Finally, productivity is at an all-time high. I've been very good about getting things DONE that I need to get done, and it feels great! I didn't do too hot keeping up with my postings (or my goals...) but I still think this challenge has been a successful one overall =)
  23. I got a Honda CRV =) Update #5 OKAY! So my running got detoured while I moved into a new apartment. So I missed three days (technically we can say 2 since I usually take a day off each week anyway). Today, to get back into it, I went on a short mile and change run. Tomorrow I'm going to make sure I'm up earlier since 8:30am here is wayyyy too hot to run. I actually haven't been snacking since I haven't really had any food, which works out I guess! I just went to a farm and bought some bacon, sausage and beef so at least I'll have some delicious, humanely raised food =) Productivity has been GREAT, mostly because everything I've had to do was buying a car, getting a new phone, signing a lease for my apartment, etc etc. But I'm all moved in, except for unpacking clothing! I also found a gym just 5 minutes from my apartment with a small but nice barbell section. The owner said it's never crowded so I'm excited to start going!!
  24. Update #4 So my running is still going good! Let's see, my last update was the 19th. So since then, I've done some interval running, a run/walk 5k on the summer solstice, a one mile light jog, Week 8 Day 1 of the Couch to 5k, and a 1 mile fartlek run today! I was going to do more but it started to rain and since I carry my phone with me I didn't want it to get too much exposure to water. My no snacking has been going great. Which is good because my meals haven't all been incredibly healthy. But at least I'm not overeating too bad! I'm passing myself for the last week of productivity because I've gotten everything done that I've needed to get done, including buying a new car and filling out all my paperwork for my new job! So far this has been a fantastic challenge for me!!
