  1. My day got eaten by errands and due to a lack of sleep the night before I wasn't "all there" I didn't get my exercise in, but it will be done today as soon as we get back from drs appointments. Ate 1889, so that at least was reasonable.
  2. what about some smoked eel? We can get it in tins around here. at Sam's club I get some precooked teriyaki chicken that could be cubed up and added.
  3. Wed Dec 5th Tried to do the leg portion. Discovered that the leg that cramped up over the weekend REALLY bad was still sore enough that lunges were impossible. It goes right up the back of my right thigh. So I listened to my body (NEVER want a repeat of last week again) and went to the gym and rode the elliptical for awhile because that doesn't bother it. Today is arms. I am still a little sore from Tues but its not bad. I will see how it goes. Ate 1987 (WOOT) with a deficit of about 929. Total victory there!
  4. So I hadn't worked out so I didn't update. Did a work out well now its Wed but it was Tuesday so I should post. Sunday Dec 2, Ate 2086 so was a bit over my goal. Monday Dec 3 1766, a little low. Tuesday Dec 4th 1864 and got my veggie goal in! Also Tuesday did the first bodyweight workout for You are your own gym. Limited myself to 36 reps of push pull exercises to start because last week when I started I TOTALLY overdid it and ended up feeling like I did after my c-section. NOT GOOD. So a slower start this time. Today
  5. I love him and the movies. Hogfather is our Christmas tradition movie We have all the movies except Color of Magic. My favorite book is Nightwatch.
  6. My kids do Belegath with their dad. There are weapons tutorials on their page. Maybe that will help.
  7. Over the past month or so I have been working on my habits. I gave up pop almost completely (down to 1 20 oz bottle a week at most, no longer do I have 'emergency monster' I have emergency pop for those days I don't get enough sleep) Started counting calories again. Started adding a bit of exercise. Taking it slowly. This week I started the "you are your own gym" body weight workouts and KILLED myself. Did one push/pull and one leg workout and spent the rest the week in recovery from the leg one. I think I will go a little slower on those. Only do the 36 reps (i went over I'm a dummy) New week starts today. This is my plan: Practice mindful eating. 1800-2k calories a day. At least one serving of veggies a day. No more than 1 fast food meal this week. 2-4 body weight work outs from "You are your own gym" take it slow. See how I am feeling before adding the second. I'm gonna count myself as still on week one since I didn't finish week one last week. I may even just start over. Go to gym 3 times (unless too sore from leg workout) Get to bed 1/2 an hour early so I can get up easier. Remember the current goal: To get into good enough shape to survive a hour long karate class without passing out.
  8. Said over the phone: "Matt, I know you can't see it, but I'm using my girly jedi powers on you, convince mom to let me stay home from school" "Baby, your magical portal is glowing again, turn it off" She plays skylanders. "Why do they call it clam chowder if its made with chicken?" (not meant to be offensive, her dad is Jewish by descent and I am a Christian, we are divorced. He doesn't practice.) My youngest, she is twelve: "I think when I grow up I'm gonna be a Jew" I say "If you want to hun, that is awesome, let me know we will find someone who can tell you more about it" my oldest daughter says "You know Jews don't believe in Jesus Christ" the youngest replies with "Well screw that then!!!" Eventually I did stop laughing long enough to explain more... "Will you two STOP steeling my spinach!! Make your own." Same goes for artichoke hearts and asparagus. What is heard in yours?
  9. How old is your child? My daughter had a lot of muscle soreness, didn't sleep well, really bad leg cramps. The doctor gave us an antihistamine to give her at bed time to help her sleep (she also has allergies). He told us to keep her well hydrated and get her moving and some exercise. He also suggested bananas to help with some of the cramping. A side effect for her was the rapid growth made it so she had NO concept of herself in space. She was running into EVERYTHING, stubbing toes, hitting her head on things. For that the dr suggested getting her into a dance class or something to teach her body awareness. Since her sister was already in karate and she had no interest in dance we went with karate. It has helped a lot. Not sure if this is what you were looking for or not, but maybe it will help!
  10. nope! Not at all, but I think its sexier without it
  11. I had a hard time getting into the first one, I admit it. What I did, on my aunts suggestions, is get it on audio book. There was something about giving him a voice that made it so much easier to get through. Once I listened to the first one I read them all in about a month (oh wondrous glut!!!) and then have been waiting since summer to get to read this one! Basically it came down to being able to find the humor between some of the whining. I hate whining and the first one has quite a bit of it. Didn't hurt that the first one was read by James Marsters
  12. Out today! I love ebooks and not having to wait!
  13. I did week 1/day 1 yesterday, today its the leg work out. I love shiney new aps. I'm a total beginner with this whole body weight thing, but am intrigued with getting stronger and getting rid of my fat. I am starting a Karate class after the new year and would like to not embarrass myself too badly. The way I see it the Karate will dovetail nicely with this too, just do the workouts on nonkarate days.
