  1. Day 22 Walked for 2 miles! It was tough on my legs, but I did it! Ate no candy or donuts. Worked on editing my novel. Drank 3 bottles of water.
  2. Day 20 Walked 1 mile. Worked on editing my novel. Drank 3 bottles of water. Ate no candy or donuts. Day 21 Walked 1 mile. Worked on editing my novel. Drank 3 bottles of water. Ate no candy or donuts.
  3. Day Nineteen No walk today. Worked on editing my novel. Drank 3 bottles of water. Ate no candy or donuts.
  4. Thanks! Day Eighteen Walked a mile. Drank 3 bottles of water. Ate no candy or donuts (despite there being donuts in the staff meeting, and my kids offering me candy multiple times)! Edited Chapter 3.
  5. How are you doing? Feeling better?
  6. Excellent consistency I'm seeing here!
  7. Excellent WORK! WORK! WORK! WORK!
  8. You're making me want to get back into swimming! I wonder if that gym I was thinking about joining has a swimming pool. I think I shall need to check that out this weekend!
  9. I'm so jealous! I'm dying to get back under 200 lbs, but I've stalled. Way to go for hitting that milestone!
  10. This! I don't bike, but I call myself a runner even though I never actually run. I belong to a running club, and I am coming back from surgery so walking is it for now. However, since my goal is a running goal, and my plans are pushing me towards meeting that goal, I call myself a runner. I think that you are a runner or a cyclist if you love the sport and are working at getting better.
  11. It sounds like you need a "me-day." Remember, if you don't take care of yourself, you won't be able to take care of your family (or your job) nearly as well. Also, don't think of it as asking other people for help. Think of it as asking for a consultation. Someday, you will be the one that the newer hire is asking for a consultation from! You can't learn without making mistakes, and without having others to learn from. In my profession (school psychologist), one of the things that you can do to maintain national certification is to meet with a mentor on a regular basis, because its accepted that even when you feel like you know what you're doing, you can still benefit from another professional's perspective. Finally...you've got this! You beat out goodness knows how many others in your field to get this job. A company like WalMart wouldn't have hired you unless they knew you had the skills and work ethic they need! You are a Nerd! You are a Scout! You are awesome!
  12. I have no idea what you do, but your words sound a lot like my brother's when we have family get togethers (he's the head of IT for a fairly big seafood company)! Congrats on having the house to yourself! The wife and I had roommates a couple of times when we were first married and it was so nice when they left!
  13. My condolences on your friend.
  14. Day Seventeen Today was a tough day. I worked at two schools that I don't normally work at, and I didn't set foot in my usual school the entire day! I also had a morning meeting with the counselor and special ed teacher at my daughter's school for next year. I went in totally prepared to fight, like I had to at the other middle school in town. I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't have to fight at all. They understood my reasons for my requests and easily agreed to give my daughter the supports that I know will help her out more! Walked a mile. Drank 3 water bottles. Ate a little candy (I forgot the psych at the main school I was at today keeps candy in his office...next time I'll be more prepared and pack a snack). Edited Chapter 2 of my novel.
  15. Day Fifteen Walked a mile. Only drank 1 bottle of water. Ate no candy or donuts. Didn't do any editing. Day Sixteen No walking. Today was graduation for the high school I work at, so I had to participate in that ceremony instead. Drank 3 bottles of water. Ate no candy or donuts. Edited Chapter 1 of my novel!
  16. Day Fourteen Woohoo! I got my house clean today! Walked a mile (went to the library and printed off the first draft of my novel). Drank 3 bottles of water. Ate no candy or donuts. Edited the prologue of my novel.
  17. Day Thirteen I walked to work today. It was a mile and a half, so I counted that as my daily walk. I ate no candy or donuts, and stopped myself from buying donuts at the grocery store. I drank 3 bottles of water. I worked on my writing...and finished the first draft of my novel! I have modified my writing goal from a daily work count to a daily editing goal! Woohoo!
  18. Day Eleven Yesterday did not go so well. I ended up going to the ER halfway through the workday. It turned out to be a migraine, but it was throwing up some very stroke-like symptoms. On the doctor's orders, I basically slept the rest of the day. The end result: No Walk Drank Only One Bottle of Water No Writing Didn't Eat Any Candy/Donuts Day Twelve Today went much better. I woke up feeling fine, so I went in to work. Had a nice day at work. Then came home and was very productive in terms of laundry and housework. Walked 1 Mile Drank 3 Bottles of Water Did Writing (I'm almost done with the first draft of the novel I'm working on!) Didn't Eat Any Candy/Donuts (even though there were a ton of donuts in the staff room at work!)
  19. Work went well today. My allergies are kicking my butt at the moment, and my meds are not helping at all! I watched an episode of Doctor Who. I'm still not a huge Capaldi fan, but I'm really liking this new companion! Day Ten Walked a mile. Ate no candy or donuts. Drank 3 bottles of water. Worked on my writing.
  20. Day Nine Walked almost 2 miles. Ate no candy or donuts. Drank 3 bottles of water. Worked on my writing. (I didn't make my word count, but I'm counting it because I wrote a little bit, and I spent a ton of time today slogging through schoolwork with my daughter.)
  21. Day Eight Walked a mile. Ate no candy or donuts. Drank 3 bottles of water. Worked on my writing.
  22. Day Seven Today was my day off from walking. Drank 3 bottles of water. Ate no candy or donuts. Worked on my writing.
  23. Day Six Walked around the block. Drank 3 bottles of water. Ate no candy or donuts (despite WalMart handing out free donuts because it was International Donut Day today). Worked on my writing.
