  1. Day 3 I did my daily walk. I didn't eat any candy. I drank my 3 bottles of water. I worked on my novel. Overall, it was a successful day. I managed to keep the momentum going again! Yay!
  2. Day Two! I did my walking, and I feel like I was able to manage a much brisker pace than usual. I ate NO candy! At one point, I caught myself reaching for some jellybeans as I passed the bowl, but I remembered this challenge and stopped myself! I drank 3 bottle of water. I wrote over 500 words on my novel! Novel writing flowed much easier today, and I have a good idea of where I'm taking my story!
  3. Day One! I walked to the far end of my block and back. My son came with me, which was nice! I ate NO candy! I drank 3 bottles of water (6 cups). I wrote over 500 words on my novel! All in all, today was a success! In addition to meeting all of my goals, I got a ton of cleaning done as well!
  4. QengpuBenal slowly opened her eyes, blinking against the glare of the sun streaming into the healer's tent. She sat up, rustling the blankets, which caused the healer to rush to her side. "What's going on?" QengpuBenal asked, "What happened?" "You were wounded in battle," the healer replied, "We patched you up, and gave you several potions. You are healed, but you are going to be very weak. Your body needed time to rest." QengpuBenal swung her legs over the side of the bed and stood. Immediately, she felt shaky and sat back down, "How long have I been out?" The healer responded, "The battle was six weeks ago. You have been unconscious since then. It will take some time for you to regain your strength, but I promise you that it will return." QengpuBenal nodded as she realized that she was going to have to start her training program all over again. Then she nodded again, this time with more determination. She had faced more difficult challenges before, and she would overcome this one as well. Epic Quest Goal My epic quest goal is to be able to run a half marathon. 5. Hey, everyone! I know I've been gone for a bit. The "new" format with the 4-weeks is really tough for me. I always end up having a hard time during Week 2, and with the shorter format, I end up deciding it's easier to wait for the next challenge, rather than finish off the last 2 weeks of the current challenge. I'm hoping to end that thinking, but it's been a real challenge for me! I also joined the Academy a while back, and I've always had trouble meshing the Academy stuff with these challenges. Still, I'm going to give it one more shot because these challenges (and all of you guys) have been super helpful in the past! 1) Track the food and drink. I'm going to track everything I eat and drink via my Instagram account (username there is PerscipaciousLoris)! I'm not going to worry about what I'm eating or drinking, just about tracking it. 0 - 7 days = F 8 - 12 days = D 13 - 17 days = C 18 - 23 days = B 24 - 28 days = A Loot for an A: A new lunchbox! 2) Level 1 Bodyweight Workouts 3x a week. I'm on Level 1 Bodyweight for the Academy, so I'm going to do those workouts 3 times every week. 0 - 2 days = F 3 - 5 days = D 6 - 8 days = C 9 - 10 days = B 11 - 12 days = A Loot for an A: A new workout shirt! 3) Hydration Station. I will drink at least two full water bottles every day. Right now, I drink no water, so two bottles is going to be a huge improvement! 0 - 7 days = F 8 - 12 days = D 13 - 17 days = C 18 - 23 days = B 24 - 28 days = A Loot for an A: Purchase a Blurb scrapbook. 4) Write On! I will work on one of my novels every day! 0 - 7 days = F 8 - 12 days = D 13 - 17 days = C 18 - 23 days = B 24 - 28 days = A Loot for an A: Buy a new book!
  6. I'm a bit late to the party, but that's okay! My plan is to finish out 2016 in style! I have only 2 fitness goals and 1 life goal, but that's because I really need to start off simple. Goal #1: Do some type of intentional movement every day. 25-27 days = A 20-24 days = B 15-19 days = C 5-14 days = D 0-4 days = F LOOT: A or B gets me a gym membership! Goal #2: Snap a pic and post it every time I eat something. 25-27 days = A 20-24 days = B 15-19 days = C 5-14 days = D 0-4 days = F LOOT: A or B gets me a new water bottle. Goal #3: Write every day. 25-27 days = A 20-24 days = B 15-19 days = C 5-14 days = D 0-4 days = F LOOT: A or B gets me a nice new sketchbook and a basic set of drawing pencils.
  7. An inspiring pep talk, as usual! Week Two was definitely tough for me for a variety of reasons, including some emotional 2x4's that came out of nowhere. But I will not quit! I will get back on the horse and finish this challenge strong!
  8. Any word yet on when we will be getting progress bars back? I really miss them. They helped keep me a lot more motivated! It looks like they've been gone for months, and I'm hoping you guys are still working on them. I'd hate for them to have been lost forever.
  9. Ugh! I have been doing terribly! I'm not sure why, but I've been super depressed lately. As a result, by the time I've dragged myself through another day at work I am exhausted! My plan is to recuperate this weekend, charge forward on my writing, and come back strong next week! In the meantime, I have new pink and silver jammies, and new fuzzy pink slippers. That plus a nice cup of tea and I should be set to write the day away tomorrow.
  10. Walked my daughter to her violin lesson instead of driving her (despite having a severely upset stomach).Drank my water. Did not cook dinner. Going to have to do better with that tomorrow. I did write on my novel and I'm currently caught up in terms of my NaNo word count! All of this, despite having to deal with some pretty stressful stuff involving the police and stuff yesterday (nothing super bad, but one of my kids may be a witness to a pretty nasty crime).
  11. I love this post! Very creative! Also, it makes me want to read more updates!
  12. Ok, so I've definitely been struggling with my goals, and after taking a hard look at them I realized I am just trying to make too big of changes at once. With that realization, plus some help from the Mindset modules at the Nerd Fitness Academy, I have revamped my goals a little. So far, I'm doing good staying on track with them. I also realized that using my bullet journal to write down the goals and track them if insanely helpful. I always have my bullet journal with me, so it's easy to remember to track the goal when I complete it that day! Another plus is that I got all caught up on my NaNoWriMo word count and am ready to kick some Week 2 butt!
  13. You give the best pep talks! I am so fired up! Not only to crush this week in terms of fitness, but to really crush my NaNoWriMo word count as well! Thanks!
  14. I used to be a very inconsistent person. This week, I've discovered that I can resist candy! The two times I have eaten some, I ate a very small amount (less than 10 small pieces) the two times I had some this week. This is huge because I usually gorge myself on my kids' Halloween candy around this time! I also discovered that making tasty yet healthy food is not as impossible as I had been thinking. The wife and I tag teamed on fajitas twice this week. i slice up the meat and veggies, and she does the cooking. I also discovered that you can put anything in a fajita if you season it properly. This week, we've been having broccoli, squash, sugar snap pear, water chestnuts, and mini bell peppers with the chicken and steak int he fajitas! So, two awesome wins for me this week!
  15. Day Three was a bust. I failed every single one. Not totally sure what happened. I think it was due to not feeling so well by the time I got off work. On the plus side, the candy I ate was one about 6 SweetTarts (far less candy than I usually eat).
  16. Day Two is done! I drank my water, a little more spread out than yesterday. I wrote my 1,667 word on my novel! I went for a 1 mile walk (after trying to talk myself out of it I did it anyway)! I also resisted all the candy my kids kept trying to share with me by thanking them and reminding them that Mommy doesn't eat candy!
  17. Woohoo! Day One is complete! I walked about a mile and a half, I drank all my water, I stayed away from the candy, and I wrote 1,690 words! Woohoo! Seriously, that was hard! I had to stay at work until 6, so I really didn't want to walk. I forgot to drink water and had to fit it all in during the last 5 hours of the day. I am surrounded by my kids' Halloween candy. I had a terrible time figuring out how to start my NaNo novel! Lots of obstacles, but I managed to push through them all! Yay!
  18. I live south of Seattle, but might be able to get up that way to hang out. Depends on the date and time (which determines if I have any $$ for gas or not)! Do you live in Seattle or just nearby?
  19. Ok, I didn't get all of my pre-challenge goals accomplished, but I did get a large number of them. I also got some of the toughest ones done. I'll say that I have earned the 2 Stamina points and 1 of the Wisdom points. Now, I'm ready to start November!
  20. Not sure if this is the proper way to do this, but...I noticed that you have some openings and wondered if I might be able to apply.
  21. November is a particularly challenging month for me. I participate in NaNoWriMo every year. At my work, November is frequently a month where I see a definite uptick in referrals (which results in more paperwork and report writing for me). In addition to this, I have my typical challenges of keeping my house clean, keeping up with the laundry, and dealing with my wife and kids' medical and academic issues! This challenge is going to be a bit wonky because I'm going to do something a bit different for the first two days. Challenge Days One and Two: These are my prep days. I need to be in the best spot possible in order to really conquer the month of November. This means completing a list of tasks to prepare me for the month. Clean the entire house, including cleaning the floors. Finished! Get all of the laundry washed, dried, folded, and put away. Almost Finished! Get all of the paperwork at my office caught up and all of my reports as close to finished as possible. Finished! Go grocery shopping. Finished! Prepare casseroles (4 of them). Finished! Bake a loaf or two of bread. Pay the bills. Finished! Investigate all three of the gyms closest to my house. Schedule out my workouts and my writing blocks for November. Finished! Finishing the entire list gains me +2 STA and +2 WIS I can earn an additional +1 STA if I also get all my paperwork at home scanned and stored on my PC. I can earn an additional +1 CHA if I also get all of my downloaded video games finished so they aren't sitting on my desktop tempting me! Goal One: I WILL exercise in some way 24/26 days in November! Do some type of exercise every day. I'm going nonspecific here to see if having the flexibility to do what I'm in the mood for will help me maintain this goal. Bomus Goal: I WILL investigate the three closes gyms during November. DONE! 23-26 days = A 19-22 days = B 15-18 days = C 10-14 days = D 0-9 days = F 2 days completed! This goal is worth +2 STA if I earn an A or a B, and +1 STA if I earn a C or a D. LOOT: Complete both goals and earn a gym membership for either December or January. Goal Two: I WILL eat a healthy, home cooked dinner 24/26 days in November. No candy allowed! I do not eat candy. I do not eat candy. I do not eat candy. 23-26 days = A 199-22 days = B 15-18 days = C 10-14 days = D 0-9 days = F 1 day completed! This goal is worth +2 CON if I earn an A or a B, and +1 CON if I earn a C or a D. LOOT: Complete this goal and earn a new rice cooker. Goal Three: I WILL dink water (at least 2 cups) 27/27 days in November. Drink 8 cups of water daily. 23-26 days = A 199-22 days = B 15-18 days = C 10-14 days = D 0-9 days = F 5 days completed! This goal is worth +2 CON if I earn an A or a B, and +1 CON if I earn a C or a D. LOOT: Complete this goal and earn a new water bottle. Life Goal: I WILL work on my novel 27/27 days in November. Write a minimum of 1,667 words per day. 23-26 days = A 199-22 days = B 15-18 days = C 10-14 days = D 0-9 days = F 5 days completed! This goal is worth +2 WIS if I earn an A or a B, and +1 WIS if I earn a C or a D. LOOT: Complete this goal and earn a new book.
  22. So, this whole storm thing has been really kicking my butt. It's a double whammy, because I hate walking in the rain, and the gloomy weather makes me not want to do anything else either. It's a new week, though, and I'm going to try and power through the wet to make this week a perfect one!
  23. Snacks at work are evil! I was doing okay as long as my secretary was stocking her candy cupboard with tiny suckers. Then she started bringing in tubs of licorice and bags of chocolate candies! As a result, this week has not been as good. I did convince myself to forego the candy bar today in favour of some green olives and pickles, so I'm proud of that choice!
