  1. Yeah i know what you mean, plus its better than breathing in a load of fumes from a car passing by or someone smoking a cigarette! Running isn't something i enjoy until my fitness levels are up, but you gotta go through the crappy stage to get to that level i guess!
  2. Just a quick update on how things are going, this week started off great and turned into a bit of a disaster :/ Its been very much a 50/50 week but im not giving up, i am back on the saddle now and still moving forward. I would be lying if i said this hasn't got me down but its my own fault for losing my self dicipline... I need to remember what someone told me when i was boxing, 'We should accept that its not always just a straight line to success' There are going to be up and down days, but if we accept that there will be slip days then it wont get you down as much and therefore you wil get straight back on it and keep moving forward! Got to stay strong and stay on the saddle as long as i can now! Paleo is tough but the rewards will be outstanding, plus i know i will get used to it after a good month of sticking to it in exception to my 20% none paleo. Hows everyone else doing? Jon
  3. So i thought i would post a picture of me after todays first run in a very long time, when i was boxing i used to run miles at a time. This might not have been as long a distance, but it was a beast of a run at the same time. I started out on the roads and ended up in the woods by where i live. The ground was slushy and muddy (England is always wet) And i was going strong, however then i got to a dead end which was a hill of just wet mud. At this point i thought fight or flight... So i dug my hands in the mud and started climbing, got to the top (And felt like doing the Rocky Balboa jump) Ran out of the woods back onto the roads and got home gasping for breath :S Here's the picture anyways of me about to pass out
  4. Thanks for the encouragment it means alot, hasnt been since last year i trained like this when i was boxing, its amazing how a bad sparring session can knock your confidence and you let it all go. Never again! Ps all the best to you too
  5. Just thought i'd leave my first update on how things are going with my first challenge That smile was hard to put on here but im trying my hardest, i havnt gave in to the many chocolate and sweets that are in my house due to our Daughter :S Which is tough, but instead i am about to eat my steamed veg and some frying steak in olive oil. My bodyweight workout was pretty tough today but im giving myself a bit more rest between exercises on my circuit so i can perform each exercise 100% For me thats more important than speed as i can increase speed and reduce rest times as my fitness improves. Tomorrow morning is my first run in a long time so that should be fun :S But i will get through it, like the great Rocky Balboa once said, ''It aint about how hard you can hit, its about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward thats how winning is done'' Something i will always keep in my mind is this, if you get knocked down, whether that be by slipping on your diet, your training or what ever it doesnt even have to be fitness related, then you get back up and keep moving forward! See you tomorrow after my run Jon
  6. Hey thankyou for the advice and i wish you all the best with your challenge also! Im going to check out those sites in a sec, now time for my steamed veg and meat
  7. Thanks for explaining Athena, will be posting an update on today in a bit so check it out. Hope your doing good on day 1
  8. Hello fellow Rebels! This is going to be my first challenge with NF and i cannot wait to get started, so lets do this! Fitness Goal - Stay On Track With Bodyweight Training I am going to do my best to not miss a single bodyweight workout (Monday Wednesday Friday) of each week during this challenge by reminding myself of the fact that if i too was a multi billionaire and a master at martial arts then i would too have the strength to be The Batman! However a more realistic reason is that i miss feeling strong and hate feeling weak, a weak body is a weak mind in my opinion. Fitness Goal I am going to start running again on the days im not doing my bodyweight workout (Tuesday Thursday) and i am going to do my best to not miss a single day! I want to do this for lung conditioning as im a vocalist, plus the fact i am planning on running a half marathon for charity at the end of the year! Diet Goal I want to keep strict dicipline on my 80% Paleo diet, I have only been doing this for a few days and it is extremely tough already but i am getting extremely good results at the same time and it can only get easier the longer i do it. What will help me achieve this goal is remembering that no matter how much training we do, 80/90% of what we achieve is through what we eat! Level Up My Life Goal I will prepare and finish my new acoustic set list by the end of this challenge! I will be remindng myself that this is what i want to do as a career and is all i can do to make a living for my family! I might even have a gig booked and played by the end too but we will see depending on how fast i learn the set. So there it is, my first nerd fitness challenge and i cant wait to get started! See you all tomorrow in the forums Jon
  9. Hey thankyou this sounds awesome, i actually clicked on sign up again and chose adventurer instead of assasin as i need to get back in shape before i become The Batman haha! Im totaly going to join one and hopefully there are a few spaces still. If not then all is cool as like you said yourself the nf community is super supportive and i am always on hand for others too! Lets do this!
  10. Hey everyone i hope your all well, I have signed up for the 6 week challenge by inputting my username on the sign up page and choosing Assasin, But is the Accountibilibuddies mandatory to join? I ask this because i have clicked on the spreadsheet link and i havnt got a clue what to do :-S Thanks :-) Jon
  11. Hey Athena i hope your well :-) Could you explain a couple of things to me please... Do i have to join a team and is a team the same as a guild? Also how do i join a team/guild? Im going for the Assasin as im doing alot of bodyweight training and running :-)
  12. Hey Athena thanks for the support, i have just been reading through the 6 week challenge and it looks awesome! Think i might have to join in Cant wait to wear nice clothes again, thats what i keep thinking of when i feel like giving up half way through a workout, thats what keeps me moving forward!
  13. Just thought i would give you all an update on how im doing, i have been following the paleo way of eating and i have to say it is tough but i am seeing it through. I love how i dont have to count calories or measure my food etc. I am training pretty intense too, maybe not as extreme as i was when i was training towards fighting as a boxer, but it is extreme enough to the point i feel like being sick and can feel my muscles ripping ready for my good protein foods to repair them. I have created my own body weight workout where i start off with 9 minutes boxing heavy bag work to warmup, then i go through an eight exercise bodyweight circuit covering my whole body. I perform 3 sets of it with 10 reps on each exercise. Im doing this Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays for the first two weeks, then im introducing my running again on Tuesdays and Thursdays where i know i will start to see even better results. My starting weight was 250lbs, my goal weight is 192lbs. When i boxed i got down to 203 lbs from 294lb, i know i can do this! Thankyou for the support fellow Nerds
