  1. just wanted to log in while its in my head: Training: -trained in the art of downhill skiing on 3/10; focused on not freaking out and getting up (180min) -kickbox/strength Tabata classon 3/15 (45 min) -journeyed about the city with SIL & family 3/17 (5.4 miles) -zumba class during lunch 3/18 (35min) Nutrition: Was on top of everything except for a 2 day trip to my childhood home. Teeth: been keeping track, more or less, on a calendar.
  2. I could do Thursday, closer to 7, but I wonder if a lot of people won't be in town until Friday. I haven't actually gotten tickets, but I would join a meet up. Maybe Sunday brunch/lunch, if that's a more relaxed day for people? Or would Friday be better so people might make friends to possibly see around at the conference? I don't want to take away from your gaming time, but that might be a cool time to meet Bostonians and visitors alike
  3. I measure monthly instead of weekly. I tend to measure myself in the afternoon/night, because I'd rather see measurements that will really reflect what my body is like most of the time (mostly for ordering the proper sized clothing online). Another way, is to find a pair of pants or shirt that fit you perfectly now, and after measuring try those puppies on, to see if there's any give there. It's just another visual way. Fat calipers are cheap too, though might be harder to learn how to use. I got a pair free when I ordered protein powder.
  4. I'm totally on a roll...Today I sacrificed my lunch hour and went to the gym again- this time for a Kickboxing class Wolverine, I didn't know that...hmm, will need to figure that out.
  5. Edit: just saw the thread on Pax East, so moving this there... Since Pax East is coming up, would people be up for doing a dinner or drinks that weekend near the convention center? I haven't actually gotten tickets, but I would meet up for that. Maybe Sunday brunch/lunch, if that's a more relaxed day for people? Or would Friday be better so people might make friends to possibly see around at the conference? I don't want to take away from your gaming time, but that might be a cool time to meet Bostonians and visitors alike And then if the Gravity Meetup hasn't happened by then, maybe we can talk about it then. I guess I'd like to hear from hard core gamers when they'd be willing to spare a couple of hours! Edit: Also, randomly, has anyone ever done BodPod in MA? Please tell me if you have info
  6. Wow, people are really into flossing^^ I've been keeping it up, but I still forget to note it down. Gotta figure that one out, but I do think my teeth are looking great So, time for an update: -Outdoor Ice Skating was rained out Partly, I only have 1 or 2 days a week that I'd have time to go, and apparently the sky likes to rain when I have time to go. -Snowshoeing: Fun& Soul Refreshing! So technically, I snowshoed by myself, but I was the organizer of a 25+ person trip and we hung out afterwards, so I'm counting it. I snowshoed for 3.5 hours over 20km of trails, and hiked up to 2000 ft. I had a lot of fun!! One of my friends that went on the trip got the ski bug, so we are going to a closer mountain on Sunday, so looking forward to that! Calorie calculator said I burned 1994 calories, but that seems high to me, since the trails were packed. -I went to "Bodiography" during lunch today. That's one more punch on my 20 class pass. 17 to go! We did contortions around a giant ball and used stretch bands. I don't think I'd go to that one again, but whowee, I went Lots of ab work. So, I've worked out twice so far. Eating: Eating around the ski trip was not so great. (=.=) I wanted to have my calories up so I didn't faint or anything on slopes, so I used it as an excuse to eat carbs. But, been really great since Monday and I feel a lot better!! Thanks for the job search support! I have one task at work that I really like but I don't get many chances to do it, so I'd love to switch to a job where I get to do that more. The problem is finding the time! I spent 2 hours working on my resume last week, but between organizing the ski trip and blips with grant paper work for the NP I volunteer work, I haven't gotten any farther.
  7. Sorry for my late update - went on my ski trip Saturday/Sunday and was recovering Sunday night. But it seems snowshoeing fits right in for the challenge, so added it in anyway
  8. My New Year's resolution is to work hard at training to be a ninja so I can one day climb a rope like one! Okay, my 6 week goals: 1. Ninja Training - Strong heart, strong ties -Exercise Twice a Week doing something Social Go ice skating, snowshoeing, or attend a group exercise class Scoring: Number of workouts completed divided by 12 Total possible during 6 weeks 1 Dexterity (DEX) - agility and speed4 Stamina (STA) - Endurance and Energy2. Follow MF eating plan, lean meats and veggies! To be a lithe ninja! Daily note: (10 pts) A: 100% OP, under caloric intake target (8 pts) B: pretty OP, over target by less than 100 calories (7 pts) C: over target by less than 300 calories (5 pts) D: ate off plan/too much, but not out of control eating (0 pts) F: Binged Total possible: 420 points (= 4.2 Constitution) >350pts, bonus (= 0.2 Constitution) 3. Brush teeth at least 2x day and floss 1x! Instead of being given away in the darkness by the whites of my eyes, it will be by the whites of my teeth!! (Ok, so not so ninja. But who wants to have teeth like Japanese? I will buck that trend...) Scoring: Tally each time I brush and floss on a calendar. 1pt for each tally, 130 pts possible (= 2.6 Charisma) 4. LEVEL UP MY LIFE GOAL: Apply to 3 jobs because successful ninjas don't just climb tall buildings. Scoring: 1 WIS for every job applied to, x3 3 Wisdom (WIS)
  9. I'd recommend talking to your doctor or pharmacist if this is a regularly occuring thing. But rather than continually taking medicine, maybe its better to adjust your diet or work on ways to destress. You'll be better off in the long run. I hope you feel better!
  10. Just an update, my ski trip reached the minimum number of people, so yay! but it also turned into an overnight thing. So I will do my best to join you, but I might be a zombie from ski trip then partying all night . It sounds like people want to do Sunday?
  11. Sorry for the late update. LIfe has been pretty crazy lately, but what else is new! 1. (Ninja) Strength Training - to be ninja strong! - Strength Train 3 times a week (warm up, Squats, Push Ups, Lunges, Back, Planks, stretching) Strength, Achieved by: Complete current target for each exercise (5pts each) For a total of 25 pts possible per workout Total possible during 6 weeks: 450 points = 9 Str Final Scoring: 345pts/ 450 points = 6.9 Str Stamina, Achieved by 10 min warm up, each workout: 18 warm ups = 0.25 Sta Final Scoring: 15/18 = 0.2 Sta Dexterity, Achieved by 5min stretches, each workout: 18 cooldowns = 0.25 Dex Final Scoring: 15/18 = 0.2 Dex Notes: I totally rocked this challenge in January, then February came and I kinda fell apart and let life get the best of me. Achievements: Was able to do jump squats, work my way up to better push up form (my biggest weakness), get up to a set of 20 one arm rows with 25lb weight, and even did an 80 second plank! I really enjoyed the warm up section, and felt really good about doing planks, even though they can be painful. Grade: B 2. Follow MF eating plan, lean meats and veggies! To be a lithe ninja! Daily note: (10 pts) A: 100% OP, under caloric intake target (8 pts) B: pretty OP, over target by less than 100 calories (7 pts) C: over target by less than 300 calories (5 pts) D: ate off plan/too much, but not out of control eating (0 pts) F: Binged Total possible: 420 points (= 4.2 Constitution) Final Scoring: 31 As + 0Bs+ 2Cs + 1D +8Fs = 329points = 3.3 Constitution Notes: I really fell apart in February on this one..in the future I want to be the girl who pounds her frustrations at the gym!! So, more mental work needs to be done. As an aside, I've gotten back on track and am doing really well lately. Achievements: I had gained 10lbs over the course of last year. As of this morning I've lost 8 of those pounds! It feels really good! My healthy cooking repetoire has also expanded! Grade: B 3. Consistently brush teeth at least 2x day and floss 1x! Instead of being given away in the darkness by the whites of my eyes, it will be by the whites of my teeth!! Ok, so not so ninja. But who wants to have teeth like Japanese? I will buck that trend...) Scoring: Tally each time I brush and floss. 1pt for each tally, 130 pts possible (= 1.3 Charisma) Final Scoring: 109 tallies = 1.1 Charisma So, I tend to be absent minded. I think sometimes I forgot to brush at work or something. But I also think sometimes I did brush but forgot to tally. Next time, I will definitely need to tally on a calendar of sorts. Achievements: I think my teeth look whiter too Grade: A- 4. LEVEL UP MY LIFE GOAL: Open up a Roth IRA because successful ninjas will one day retire. unsuccessful ninjas are probably dead. Final Scoring: Opened one at Vanguard! Deposited enough to cover me for tax purposes, though still need to decide what to invest in. Eh, good enough. Achieved! Grade: B Overall Grade: B I am glad I took part in the challenge. Sometimes my life was crazy, but I stuck with the workouts and got better form. And I felt proud of myself because it helped me to stick to tracking my training.
  12. Sorry for the late update. I finally had a down day, so yay! I think the scale was also slow and I let that deter me. I've found that my goals for Lunges were just too much, and were partly why I pushed off working out - 100 reps each leg. Doing 2 sets of 50 perfect just ended up being way too much, and my knees would hurt. So I think if I go for a routine similarly, I will cap the goal to level up at 2 sets of 30. Achievements: Was able to do jump squats, work my way up to better push up form (my biggest weakness), get up to a set of 20 one arm rows with 25lb weight, and even did an 80 second plank! I really enjoyed the warm up section, and felt really good about doing planks, even though they can be painful during. Grade: B 2. Follow MF eating plan, lean meats and veggies! To be a lithe ninja! Daily note: (10 pts) A: 100% OP, under caloric intake target (8 pts) B: pretty OP, over target by less than 100 calories (7 pts) C: over target by less than 300 calories (5 pts) D: ate off plan/too much, but not out of control eating (0 pts) F: Binged Total possible: 420 points (= 4.2 Constitution) Final Scoring: 31 As + 0Bs+ 2Cs + 1D +8Fs = 329points = 3.3 Constitution Notes: I really fell apart in February on this one...I let my emotions over what was going on with a guy lead me toward chocolate and ice cream. It happens, but in the future I want to be the girl who pounds her frustrations at the gym!! So, more mental work needs to be done. As an aside, I've gotten back on track and am doing really well lately. I also discovered a Methyl B-12 supplement which I quarter and take sublingually in the morning. I've been doing this for the past few days and I feel so much better, more energy, happier, and less apt to daydream of chocolate and cupcakes, lol. It might be a coincidence but its good to be happy! Achievements: I had gained 10lbs over the course of last year. As of this morning I've lost 8 of those pounds! It feels really good! I can't wait for my jeans to fit perfectly. I also found a really good dish at an Italian restaurant me that is both amazing and diet friendly (Called Chicken Vincenzo), adapted recipes for Turkey Provincal soup and Tuna Melt Fritatta that were quite good, and cooked my very first roast beef. So I feel like my healthy cooking repetoire has expanded! So, I think sometimes I forgot to brush at work or something. But I also think sometimes I did brush but forgot to tally. Next time, I will definitely need to tally on a calendar of sorts. Achievements: I have gotten into a much better habit of brushing and flossing at work (I usually have my biggest meal then, so it makes sense). It's a lot more natural to remember to do it. I think my teeth look whiter too Grade: A- 4. LEVEL UP MY LIFE GOAL: Open up a Roth IRA because successful ninjas will one day retire. unsuccessful ninjas are probably dead. Adding this one in late in the game, but I've just decided its imperative I get my act together and do it! Scoring: Get it done or unable to receive any of the above points!!
  13. Spezzy, awesome picture! I am so jealous - y'all look so happy at the gym^^
  14. Wow, I'm really proud of you! You are so strict with your scoring, but I think you really rocked this challenge And losing 5lbs to boot, that isn't easy!! Sorry, I've been MIA, life has been crazy (= =)~~ I plan to check in on Saturday after I go to the bank. It's been fun being teammates!
  15. I think it'd be nice to do something for March 1st or 3rd as well. I'm organizing an (unrelated) ski/snowboard trip to Waterville Valley on March 2nd, so I'd prefer a drinking/social activity over hard core obstacle course, just so I don't hurt myself. Though I'm a little sad because it seems we are 4 people short from getting the group rates. (Any takers? hehehe) Is there a particular bar/neighborhood y'all tend to go to? CoreyD, you can always come out and just get water! Enough of us are health freaks that no one would tease you about it But I hope things turn out ok
