One thing that I have learned over the years is that you can not out-train a poor diet. Make sure you are focusing on your diet, cutting out all the crap you know is not good for you. I highly reccommend the Paleo Diet. Steve did an awesome post on the main site outlining all the need to know info on the diet. I lost 25lbs on diet alone with the change over to Paleo. Now I am working towards those ever elusive abs I hear people always talking about... As far as our workout... I do 2-3 full body workouts a week that have helped me gain a couple of pounds of muscle and really lean out. The workouts keep my heart rate up the entire time and they focus on strength moves which have helped me put on some muscle. The best way to measure your success is always the mirror test... but you should also look at your BF%... You will see that drop even if your weight does not... That means you are putting on muscle and losing the fat...

It is harder to put muscle on after the age of 30, but not impossible. You will need to be careful about your goals in this respect. While elite athletes might be able to pack on the muscle in their 30's, most people will struggle. Also, I can only assume you do not have 3-4 hours of dedicated gym time about 5 days a week. Who does? You can assume to add between 5-7lbs of lean muscle mass a year in your 30's. That number decreases when you hit your 40's. You can see more results if you are 100% on point with your workout and diet, but that would be rare. Good luck!

Standing allows you to also work on your stabilizing muscles such as your core, rotator cuffs, and all the smaller tendons in your arms, shoulders, and neck

Buy yourself a foam roller... Amazon has them for like $20-30... then go to youtube and search "Foam Roller" and bingo... your legs will be loosened after about a week of rolling.

Breathe in when the weight is above you... Breathe out when you are moving the dumbbell... The only moment you are really at a "standstill" is at the height of the movement and that is the best time to breathe in.
