  1. Trying to figure out all the community stuff and keeping up with my goals. So far so good! Getting excited about all of this!

  2. Update my goals at the top to have something to measure against and to give point values. Thoughts?
  3. Very trackable goals; I'll have to work on mine a bit now so I can make sure they're more measurable.
  4. Sounds like you've got some good goals; I'm working on the debt thing as well, but doubt I'll be able to make as much headway as you in such a short amount of time. Looking forward to hearing about your progress!
  5. Sounds like you've already made a good start; looking forward to hearing about your progress!
  6. Sounds like you're doing great already Maegs and know your way forward. Thanks for the enthusiasm you bring! Love the videos in your goal post.
  7. Thanks drsloomis - that sounds like good advice. Right now I may have set some high goals considering I haven't been doing much for the past 10 years. Will have to see as time goes on.
  8. Did my run today; this was the 1st run of Week 2 in my Pooch 2 5K plan. Unfortunately, the dog did better than I did today (which is a first). Got some shin pain that was hard to push through, but I made it. Seems to happen more when I hit the inclines, so I will try to stick with level running until I can build up the muscles in the shin area. I don't want that to stop me from running. Also thinking about starting Weight Watchers to help with the weight loss. I did it over 10 years ago and it worked pretty good. It appears that I am the type that really needs to know what I can eat so that I don't go overboard - kind of like a budget, but for the tummy! Feeling good about sticking with my plan so far.
  9. Thanks Heidi; that was really a quick and dirty list just to get started with the challenge. The plan is to use a better diet and the running/gym to reach that goal. So, controlling portions and what I eat will play a major factor.
  10. Joined today and started my first challenge; looking forward to hanging with the Fellowship! Here's my challenge.
  11. Glad to hear I'm not the only one that doesn't like gyms. Always good to know when you're not the only one!
  12. Sounds like a plan! We did a vegetable garden at our house this past year and loved it! It was exciting to see everything growing - and great to be able to eat the things you grow. They taste so much better that way! Good luck with the road-warrior eating - that can definitely be a challenge.
  13. Thanks - I think 2.5 lbs per week is doable for me. I have done it in the past, so I am thinking that a much needed change in the area of portion control (OUCH!) and the additional exercies should be all that I need. I have heard that a good goal to shoot for is the 2.5lb/week range, so that's what I'm going to try. Here's to our goals!
  14. Well, it's been a long time in coming, but I am finally going to buckle down and get into shape. Got out of the Army in 2001 and have put on almost 70 lbs since. I've got lots of reasons excuses for why I've gotten to this point, but that's all in the past, right? I want to be sure to be around for my kids and family, so need to get started. I've actually started out on the Pooch to 5K, which is similar to the Couch-to-5K, but includes your dog. My dog has gotten a little bit overweight over the past year as well - has had seizures, so is on medication that makes here lethargic and hungry. So, we both get to get in better shape through some increased activity! Taking a look through the Rebel Fitness Guide as well and will be starting on some gym stuff (never been a fan of the gym, though). Gonna have to start out nice and slow so I don't burn myself out. Anyways, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Hoping to be around here a while!
