  1. Much of the preceding days was spent with us building portable defenses and harrowing the enemy lines. We followed them through the low mountain passes. Occasionally picking off a band of scouts. Thus far we have succeeded in keeping any from returning to camp. Unfortunately my bow snapped during our last encounter. I am building a set of portable defenses so I can continue to have some sort of shelter while I make a new bow. Arslan is keeping watch while I fix the gear. I actually took a side job this week. I worked with a locksmith friend of mine replacing locks in 280 units in three story apartment complexes. I spent the lst half of this week running up stairs, not a normal workout, but it was intense. 100 pushups five days a week has continued. I did a series of squats while carrying gear yesterday.
  2. After days of tracking and fleeing and hunting these brutish men, I decided few moments of shut eye may keep me in fighting form. I'll need the energy to get through these beasts. When I did attempt to rest I woke suddenly to the sound of footsteps. I attacked from my hiding place. The fighting was intense. It was only when I had almost killed the woman that I realized she was not dressed like the raiders. I held her at sword point and asked her for her name. She replied with her name, Arsalan. She a warrior from neighboring kingdom. After a few minute of explaining, we discovered that we were after the same people. Villages in her realm had been attacked as well. We decided that together we would continue our quests to save the prisoners. Several miles later we did run into more of the raiders scouts. We fought several small battles. We knew each victory was just a step closer to the end result, the freedom of our friends and family. Run 1 mile in armor Fighter practice, 2 hours sword and shield
  3. While resting for a few minutes and tending my wounds I decided to rid the field of the corpses. I picked up the bodies and dropped them in the cave. I then climbed the tallest tree I could find. The goal was to see if I could get a better vantage point on the enemy movement. The enemy camp fires were miles into the valley. It would take me most of a day to catch up to the main force. I climbed back down and began my plotting my revenge as the run began. Deadlift and Pull-ups (Thursday) Walking, 3 miles (Friday)
  4. I found the time to pile the bodies of those who did not survive before starting on the trail. I will still move faster than a caravan if it is just me. With the villagers taken care of I began my tracking. It seems they have outriders in all directions. This party is huge. I have had to actually drop and seek cover multiple time today. I can do no good to my family if I get captured. For several miles I tracked them dropping when needed. It was then when a group of outrider caught up with me. M trusty bow allowed me to survive the majority of the attack. Those who managed to close on me were much fewer in number. I dealt with them quickly. I will have to tend to my wounds before I continue. I have fond a small cave under which to rest. 100 push-ups a day Monday through Friday. 1.5 hours of archery practice (Sunday) 2 hours for sword practice in armor, to include 36 straight fights for my birthday. (Monday) 1 day or squats and push presses. 1 mile run, and 15 minutes of calisthenics. (Tuesday)
  5. The rain has finally let up. I've been on the hunt for days. I finally tracked down the boar. I took it out this morning. Field cleaning the best was a bother, but the family will have the smoker started shortly after I get back to the village. Then I noticed the smoke rising over the treetops. It was very obviously coming from the direction of my village. I dropped my load and ran the last 2 miles towards home. The walls had burnt down to nothing. No noises were heard from the bodies lying on the ground. No one is left alive. Each house is either burning or smoldering. I searched trough the ruins of my house looking for any sign of my family. I found no bodies, which offered a little hope. I found tracks that resembled a wagon train and several horses. I believe the towns people were taken by someone. I can easily track their progress. The recent rains have left the ground heavy and wet. 2 miles run began packing and moving boxes in prep for the move
  6. The side project doesn't actually count but it is on my list in either case.
  7. So, it happens that this lowly Dwarf is out on a quest for a home again. It seems that the homestead was raided while he was off adventuring. I and going to have to travel for a bit to find a decent new farm stead to build up. The neighboring lands are treacherous and filled with daunting peril. Monster, men, brigands, bandits roam the woodlands. I must find a space and clear the land. Build a small farm and protect it. This I pledge to do for the safety of my family is at stake. Ok, in all actuality we are house hunting. I have a bid in on a house. I am going to have to Pack everything I own up and prep it for transport. I am also still in training for a 5k run in armor. My normal week includes A combat practice in full armor, a fencing practice, three days of running and two days of lifting. I am going to attempt to add a few extra sets of push-ups to the list. Long term: 15% body fat get back into fighting form generally feel better. I am well on my way to reaching those. Short term: Continue Running three days a week Hit the weights 2 days a week Calisthenics 5 days a week including yoga based relaxation. Pack the house up. Side Project:Defend the house:Archery happens Armored 5k Finish making horsebow and archery gear.
  8. SO I kept up with my updates but forgot my challenge update at the end. So i'm late for consideration but I am here for the Game. So,for the win. 20% body fat. I was at 25 at the end of the cycle I was at 22% So A = 20" B= 21 C=22 D=23 F =24 Drop one minute off my run. I was at a 20 minute 2 mile. I finished a 2 mile in 18.45. A = 19 B= 19:15 C =19:30 D= 19:45 F= no change I score on the Army fitness test. Pushups 70 beat the pants off that score Situps 45 passed this one. The run being at 18:45 is still one minute from passing. Sewing projects got kicked for some leather working project and armor repairs. A=total win, B=positive attempt C=ick the basement d=yeah I got sidetracked.
  9. Ok, so I got my body fat percentage in last week. I am currently at 23.6% which is still progress but not where I wanted to be. I also skipped one lifting day, and two running days. I did half the lifting day while at the fireworks show while squatting with children on my back. I more then made up for anything else this Saturday. I was moving boxes for a friend for 6 hours. I followed that up by leisurely swimming around a pool for 1.5 hours. It was a strange weekend. I am still feeling fine. I have a run and a combat practice this evening. We'll see how this week works out.
  10. My shoulder is feeling lots better. I will be lifting tomorrow. Yesterday I spent the day in the woods with a Boy scout camp. a lot of walking and teaching classes. It was a good day. This evening I will be doing my run as normal. I am currently hunting for assistance on completing challenge two for this week. I needs me some Dex... :-)
  11. Changed out a Lifting routine for archery today. My shoulder still hurts a bit. Tomorrow I'll try to run in my maille shirt. Gotta start somewhere.
  12. At the moment I do not have a race picked out. It will be for something local. I know there are a few things coming up that may be ok with the concept. I am also probably staying with a light 14th century kit. I think I am going to avoid a full breast plate. I have a coat of plates that may work well. It allows for movement in the upper body. As far as this weeks situations. i have maintained my lifting and almost maintained my running schedules. Ran S, T, and then this morning. I lifted S, T, and R days with little issues. I raised my 3X5 deadlift to 170, I worked the 5X% deadlift 155. Squats pulled in at 5X5 at 180. Push press is at 95 5X5. i had combat practice on Monday heavy twice and fencing once. As in different practice sessions. On Thursday I fought for 2 hours in Dacula. I took yesterday and attempted to heal some. I found a knot in my shoulder blade area on Thursday. It hurts like nobodies business. I am hoping it works itself out. I ran tis morning and it didn't seem to affect that, but it hurts to breathe heavy at times. I hope it goes away before tomorrow. I plan on making up my missing run in the morning, driving for 4.5 hours, then shooting archery for 2 hours. I don't know how well that will work with my shoulder being strange. I'm stubborn that way.
  13. My updates for last week were about upping weights on my deadlifts and squats, and finding a partner for the challenge. Both of which I have done. Deadlifts are now at a working weight of 170. Squats I'm at about the same I think. I'll check tomorrow. Archery for the win with Wild Angell. Last week was good. I also ended the week with an extra 1300 calories. So 8300 calorie deficit for the week. Making progress one day at a time.
  14. Screwluz here. Yes, that's me. I signed into NF about three months ago. looked around and then started working on a different project. As time is cleared I think I like this format better. I'm a 35 year old man. Father of three teenage boys. I am a member of the SCA. I regularly participate in heavy weapons and rapier combat. I'm an IT Manager for The Univeristy of Georgia. I spent the first 10 years of my adult life with the Air force doing sattelite communicaiton. Occcasionaly I miss it. I gained some weight in the last few years. I also managed to quit smoking and started saving some cash. This year i vowed to make some serious changes. I had gained about ten pounds in a few months. I was not happy. I was sitting at 250 and as a man who stands a wopping 5'7" that was not good. So, January 1st I started a 90 day plan. Drop 4 inches off my waist. I also added a bunch of other stuff to that list. Cleanig out my basement, finishing sewing projects, making a few things craft-wise. I got 90% of the projects completed. Then it was time to make new goals. Which is where I am now. What better place to log it all than a place that matches my free time. I am still running two tabletop RP games. One for friends, and one for my kids. Previous stats: 5'7", 252lbs, 44 inch waist, 49 inch chest, 43 inch hips, 17 inch neck Current stats 5'7" 220.8Lbs, 39 inch waist, 44.75 inch chest, 41 inch hips, 16.5 inch neck Goals: Short term: Lifting 2 times a week (this will flesh oout once I manage to figure out what I can do, this week is finding limits) Run 5K without stopping (six weeks) Finish my Fashion Photoshoot project Finish all promised sewing projects (2 left) Take the GRE Long term: Run 5K in armor (by the end of summer) Get back to 20% Body Fat (currently 33%) Get my credit score back above it's highest point (6 months) Buy a house Get my available credit ratio back below 25% (6 months)
  15. Okay, so the first posts were all in reply to my introductions, but I've been working this challenge set. I'll copy my original posts over later tonight. I participated in Heavy combat this morning for about 20 minutes with a friend at a SCA demo for a Montessori school. That was fun. Then I came back to work. The remainder of today's workout is fencing this evening. It's gonna be one long day. Fighting keeps me occupied though. Tomorrow is a run and a lifting session. :-)
