  1. That's awesome! I hope you can get all that stuff under the same hat and make some real progress! I do have to agree with lifting heavy stuff. Nothing better than to buckle up and lift that bar with 2 big plates on either side! Seems like all your friendly chatting seems to distract you from reporting your goals... I hope the actual achieving of said goals can continue unhindered in the meantime? For your running: if you have continued trouble, I've had a lot of success progressing with the c25k programm. 6 weeks ago running 20minutes without stopping wouldn't even have happened in a dream for me. Now I run 20 minutes continued and still have energy left for some light hill sprinting towards the end of my session!
  2. Hello Starpuck Looks like your week 2 passed quite well! Between strength training (If I may ask, what is it you're doing to gain strength?) and ating healthy you've got a nice thing going. The important part is to stick to it! I'm sure that if you can maintain playing hockey in a team, a little bit of strength training and diet should be easy enough for you aswell! btw your moss picture is really beautiful. I can only imagine how great it would've turned out if you had your actual camera with you!
  3. Hello Brutus Your thread reads like your doing quite well. Your goals seem to be well thought through and the plan to accomplish them seems to be there aswell! I hope you have an easy time to complete all your goals I gotta say I'm really impressed by the 400word spanish update you plan to do. I'll definately keep hanging round your thread to catch updates toward that. One quick question about your fitness goal: From an outsiders perspective you seem to have set the number of repetitions for your exercises quite high. Is there a particular reason for that? 30 BWRs or 40 incline pushups seems a lot to me.
  4. Little background story: On saturday I went hiking with a couple of friends. After some time I walked close to a cut tree trunk to get some close up shots of some moss. Suddenly a friend of mine (you can see the guys hand) tells me to be quiet and stop moving. Turns out there's a snake curled up behind the log. So my friend, who's kind of a reptile and arachnoid enthusiast, goes to catch the snake. That man is fearless, the snake was longer than 150cm (or 5ft). Almost as long as my friend is tall. So he catches the snake, which immediately wraps round his arm in a (somewhat futile) attempt to choke him. I took about 50 pictures of the snake. Was a good day! I like the 'end of things' idea because it is a really lose term, that can be interpretated in a lot of different ways. It gives artistic freedom for the pictures of you will Hope you like the picture!
  5. No, I was thinking more about going down to 3/8/5 from 5/12/8 I'm at now. Only on deadlifts of course. But I think I'll just keep doing the 12, endurance is really important aswell. Maths + Sun = Happy Nerds! I even got a bit tan. Just a little bit. Yay for maths! It's just something about an arbitrary set of rules that is so intertwined in itself that intrigues me. As well as the certainty that there is a direct proportionality between time invested and maths learned. Got even better this week, 100kg Is definately in reach. Combined with the Virtual Weigthlifting Meet I migth go even higher. I have to disagree, math is elegant, beautiful and concise. It is truly man's biggest accomplishment. After I put in a couple hundred hours I really managed to appreciate (most of) it! We can be Mathbuddies Sadly I'm nowhere near good enough to tutor anything but school maths. Which really is more calculation than actual math. But it would be awesome to have a stable income through that. Alright! So I am offically 'back' although I haven't really 'gone anywhere' in a stricter sense. Last week I was crazy busy with priority 1 obligations. I manage to get all my scheduled workouts in, but my eating habits have suffered a bit. Now that I've got a little more time on my hands, I'm deifnately going back to eating all healthy all the time. 100% Paleo here I come. I also had a minor slip involving a pack of cigarettes and some bottles of wine. Suffice to say that my quit smoking timer has been reset. As far as my goals go, I upped my Deadlift by another 5kg this week. Still perfectly on target for 100x5 on 20th of may. 85k went quite easily for 5 times. Really looking forward to next monday. Form still seems good fro ma first person prespective! Handstands are currently at about 5-10 secounds. Freestanding that is. I only hit 10s once so far and it seems to be more a statistical outlier, but if I manage to hit it again, I'm definately counting it as completed goal Running is going AWESOME! I've moved from walking/running intervalls to straigth up running 22-30 minutes. Getting closer towards running 5k every week. Math is still fun! I'm currently doing 2hours 5 out of 7 days of the week. Currently trying to up it to 3h 7/7.
  6. That is awesome! I'll go get some information about my max lifts on wed then, thanks a lot Sadly I lack the lifting strength necessary to start talking trash, so I'll just keep quiet and let the big boys talk
  7. Holy guacamole your thread is getting frighteningly long. I have no Idea if I will be able to actually read all of that to catch up :/ Are you doing good in regards to you goals?
  8. It's a good feeling though, no? After a day of working out, going on a hike, and maybe getting some work done, still having energy left over always makes me feel good about myself.
  9. Is there still enough time between now and the competition for me to test out my 1RM? I talked to CoreyD About it a little bit, but I was insanely busy and haven't gotten to it yet. I was thinking about doing that on wednesday with only going for a 2RM so I have a good starting place for the competitions first attempt. Also, when does the smack talk start?
  10. Congrats on the Squat PR! Barbells are indeed one awesome piece of equipment
  11. Wow! Already completed on of your goals in week 2! That is really impressive I hope you can take the momentum from that an continue to crush this challenge!
  12. Just came back from some nasty rl-business I had to take care off. How are things AR? You're doing good I hope?
  13. Gotta take the opportunities as they present themselves! Some luck is always involved Don't worry about the people who's offer you have to turn down, only one can be the best offer. Maybe you can even leverage the offers against the other firms and get an even better deal? If the scene is looking for people like you, might as well make the best of the situation!
  14. I hope you can get all the relaxation you need during your vacation! Your thread reads like you're doing awesome Keep up the great-ness and enjoy your vacation! Sorry for not dropping by, I had a crazy week, struggling to get all my necessary things done. I hope I can go back to regular NF-ing now
  15. I've got just the shot for this. If it's still possible to submit one that is! Picture was taken on saturday, so should technically still be week2? Sorry for dropping off for the whole of last week, I still do want to check out your thread, but I've had a really busy week. Today I've got some breathing room, so I'll take the chance and get to know you a little better: )
  16. No, as a CS/Physics person I have to say you're wrong! I love me some maths Quick inbetween update again: Deadlifts are progressing good, although I'm thinking about lowering my low weigth/high reps day repetitions. 12 Deadlifts per set is a lot. Doing good with the handstands. So far I've been doing them at the end of my routine but I sense some mixing up in the future. Handstands and pullups at the end are fine for my deadlift and squat but the number of pullups I've been doing is stagnating a bit. I'll play around with this next week. Oh yeah, I managed a 9 second handstand (freestanding that is) today, but it's more of a statistical outlier than anything. Gotta do a bit better here in the next couple of weeks. Running is progressing awesome. I've adapted a slightly increased pace on my last inclined for every workout (I run laps around a park which has a slight slope on the two longer sides. Last lap, I try to go about 80-85% of my capable maximum effort to get the sweat and exhaustion going before taking an easy jogging pace home. I LOVE running ever since I managed to learn how to correctly strike my feet. Studying maths has been working pretty well so far. I'm doing 2 hours a day, which will increase once I get nearer to my exams. I've missed one study session since I began so far, but I'll make up for it on the weekend. Studying in the sun is doubly awesome! So far for my goals. I hope my schedule clears up a little bit this next week, since a slightly bigger part of my weekly commitments will drop off now. Expect me to check in on your thread on the weekend, I hope to read a lot of awesome! On the other hand my eating habits and the daily yoga have suffered a little bit. I'm still about 80/20 on the paleo, but I'd like to get closer to 100 again. I've stopped doing the daily stretches after my weightlifting sessions which is bad, and will be remedied as soon as possible. Thanks for reading this, you're a wonderful person and I hope you have a great day!
  17. Thanks a lot! I totally destroyed that 80k Sadly the percentage went down. I had to adjust it even further because I am crazy busy at the moment. When there's not enough time to prepare a decent meal you just know the load you've taken is not doable. I wish I had pushed more for further mileage to be honest. When I finish with energy left there's always that bitter sweet 'I could have done better' Yeah it was! Thanks a lot for your encouraging words I am still doing quite well, not as good as I'd like, but gotta make due with what I've got. 80kg went awesome! I'm already looking forward to 85 next monday Thank you! I love me some maths! Took a while to get my head wrapped around that, but I realized that 2 hours might be to little. So I upped the amount of time to 3 hours More maths more fun, am I right? Alright so I missed an update on monday. That is mostly because my schedule became a bit overloaded this week, but that's gonna get resolved next week. I should be able to go back to standard updates. In the meantime: I am doing okay. Could be better, gonna be better! I'll be back for a bit more of a real update soon!
  18. Hope you manage to make up for the missed time with the pistols! Best of luck
  19. Hello I"ve just signed up for this group (Brutus, you're an awesome person!). I'm very excited to participate in the picture mini challenges. Probably won't be able to do week 1 though. I'm gonna check out everyone's challenge threads tomorrow! Hope you all had an awesome first challenge week
  20. No. I had to wait on the squatrack as well as fell over squatting. Friday workout was great though Challenge Update #3 So I usually update fridays but that didn't quite work out. Had a lot of things to take care of over the weekend. Lots of things to do, people to meet, and that stuff. Lot's of alcohol to drink aswell. I've decided to down my paleo percentage for weekly meals down to about 90-95%. IAMSTRONG! Deadlifts going strong. I'm super excited for monday where I'll go for 80kg for the first time. Squats have gotten a lot better, I think in the meantime I've managed to go up to 40kg as well as drastically improve my form. thanks to starting strength! IAMBALANCED! I had to take it down a notch here. Instead of doing freestandings I went for wall handstands with trying to stand freely at the end. I think the 10 second thing is gonna work out by the end. IMALEAFONTHEWIND! Today I went running for 20 minutes without stopping. Haven't done that since I was 12. Felt really good, especially when the time was up and I still had some more laps in me. Sadly I couldnt measure the distance but based on approximation it shouldbe about 3-3.5km. IAMSMART! Doing 2 hours of studying maths daily at the moment! Going really awesome
  21. I'm stil here Curious if there is a new thread though...
  22. That donkey picture is awesome. If I could I'd +1
  23. Well. Honey is the only kind of sweet I allow myself to have. But only in very little quanitities. I always get nauseated when I have too much. You seem to be doing awesome the last couple of days. Keep it up!
  24. Awesome that you managed to get the same distance in less time with your intervals! Hooray for saving time
