  1. How's everyone doing with their challenge so far? Lots of awesome?
  2. Working out always makes for a great mood changer! Best of luck with your mortgage
  3. It's great that you manage to keep your diet clean with all the excitement about the trip goin around. I also hope you manage to recover from your workout in time Some says a break is necessary, that is unavoidable!
  4. I agree with LW! That is an awesome way of putting your thoughts
  5. On US internation keyboad settings the accent to the left is left of the '1' key, while the accent to the right is on the left of the enter key. Hope that is at least a bit helpful How are your runs comeing along by the way?
  6. I'm so envious of you being able to run outside. I've had to take the treadmill all of last week because it started to snow again. Stupid snow :/ I see you're still hitting the workouts big time! Keep up the awesome
  7. You're welcome! You should focus on the raod while driving
  8. Since I heard more about the study I'm referring to in the op (short summary of said study to follow below) I've been training my selfcontrol at every opportunity that I get. For example: When I have a smallish quantity of consumable items that I really enjoy (used to be cookies, cigarettes anything like that) I'd leave one, or some times more. And then test myself on how long I could hold off on eating it. It's important here that you keep in mind that you have it, want it, but CHOSE to not eat it. If you put it out of sight and forget about it the exercise is pointless. I like to think it helps, but I have no way of proving or testing my hypothesis. The aforementioned study works like this (this is all from memory so I aplogize for minor mistakes) There is a room with a table in it. On the Table there's 2 bowls. One is filled with cookies and the other is filled with turnips/horseradish/something else that tastes not as good as cookies. You split your test persons into two groups. Group 1 gets to eat whatever they want, group two may only have the horse radishes. Both groups may eat as much as they want. After about 30 minutes in the room with the bowls you take your subjects to the next room, where they are confronted with an easy to understand but insoluable problem. A set of numbered points where the proband is suppsed to join the points with a straigth line that may not cross another line. The study shows that people who got to eat cookies would devote waay more time (think 4-5 times longer) to the puzzle before giving up.
  9. It's a little bit alarming if you ask me, but I totally understand. Truth be told, I'd do the same thing if I had a chance
  10. Yeah prioritizing is important as is with every limited resource. Up to the point where you have trained your disciplin enough that you're able to exert it at will in every aspect of your life. Some would argue that this probably takes a lifetime to achieve, and I do not disagree. It's purely a mind thing and a focused and trained mind can overcome any obstacle. One day you'll get there aswell! Until then, everyone's happy to support you in your quest!
  11. Reporting in day 2! Did 2x10 Burpees again today. Makes for a grand total of 40!
  12. Thanks for that Treadmill 101. If you figure out how to change the time of the intervals, please get back to me Yeah thats what I'm doing aswell, as I have uneven interval times. I have so far not been able to figure out how to set the interval times. Might keep fiddling with the dials some more next time I go for a run.
  13. Neither what I said, nor what I'm gonna do That statement is all I know that there is know about discipline.
  14. 60 in a single set? Now THAT is a challenge. One I will walk away from gladly because I can see my form on burpees dropping below horrible once I'm past 10.
  15. theres an interval setting but all it does is 2m first speed/ 2m second speed
  16. The treadmills in my gym really blow as far as setting up intervals go. I can't (or at least don't know how to) set time frames for high/low intensity. All I can change is the speed and then go 2m slow, 2m fast, which is hardly better than just running. Also they won't let me run barefoot in my gym. That's a major problem at the moment because I can't afford new shoes and there's still snow lieing aroudn everywhere outside.
  17. Thanks! I was hoping to get through the 6 weeks flawlessly. I just want it once, you know? To be able to say that I managed to do a whole challenge without any kind of mistake/slip/blemish. That would be nice. Well there's always next challenge. I'm already looking forward to it! Challenge update #14 What's everyone? I'm doing quite well for myself if I may say so. This week so far has been one great week. I even managed to stay waay below my caloric requirement for bodyweigth preservation. And I'm feeling great doing it. I've got a feeling that I will finish this challenge strong and focused! Burpee mini-challenge is going quite good so far. I've not done burpees before, so I had to jump right into them, and stop at 10 for my first set. This is probably more of a safety precaution as the second set of 10 yesterday went over quite smoothly. Still I want to play it safe so I'm gonna stay at 10x2 this time round. WORKIT! Did my usual wednesday workout, which is endurance training with low weigths and high repetitions. I Benched 40kg rather easily! So easy infact that I went back for another set of 12. Of which I only got 11 reps through, but I'm glad I didn't jump to 45, that woulda ended at like 6 or something. Everything else went Awesome! I love working out EATIT! Still par for the course since my last (and only!) beer slip last weekend. I got a kilo of porkchop for the low price of 3,5euros which is really quite low. So this whole week's gonna be porkchop week BENDIT! I incerased the difficulty of my daily routine slightly (mainly on the leg poses) and doing quite well with it so far. I hope to find a nice flow routine or an increase in worklout of surya namaskar b for my longer workouts. Vinyasa so fun! QUITIT! I completely dominated this, by now I forgot I even used to smoke. Quitting smoking, easily the best thing I've ever done for myself!
  18. Yoga will definately help you relieve the DOMS tension, one of the many reasons why I love Yoga so much Good luck with your burpees, I've never done 'em before but they are really awesome!
  19. Evil, evil scale o.0 The burpee mini challenge is really fun. Although I can only do 10 in a row right now, so I have to do 2 sets of 10 for the daily completion. I like how they make us split it up into 3 days.
  20. Form check videos are insanely helpful! You should totally go for it
  21. Oh damn o.0 I completely forgot about this thread. Great that you're back! I hope you have an easy time sticking to your goals for the last week and a half Week 4 was okayish for me. I went out once and drank beer. Other than that as awesome as always! Although another person in my surroundings has died the day before yesterday. Which makes this the third death this challenge. Something's seriously wrong here o.0. I want to go work out at the gym soo much! And I just came from there and really can't move another muscle.
  22. Yes you will, and the one after that, and the one after and so on and so on! It's just like it is with planks, once you can do a minute, you'll always be able to do a minute if you keep training!
  23. I'll start off: Self control (or discipline, or whatever you want to call it) is a limited resource in a human. (theres a study about it with turnips and cookies) It is limited, therefore it can be increased, or trained like a muscle. Just gotta start somewhere Seems like you're doing good! Keep it up
  24. Hooray for Burpees! Got my first set of 10 down (couldn't continue) will do 10 more in a minute or so. Expecting to get done with the 3x20 burpees Friday or Saturday. Not sure if I'll be able to do them after weightlifting. Wanna take the safe route here!
  25. In central europe it is customary to take off your shoes once you enter a house/flat. So wearing socksaround the house is kinda customary here. Hooray for another rugby player! To be honest it doesn't matter all that much which guild you join as you may switch at any point and there's not restrictions or differences. They're just there to make it easier for people to find like-minded individuals. I think warriors would be happy to have you, and I'm certain the rangers would be honored by your presence.
