  1. Primarily my wife, who is very supportive of all my fitness / diet goals. She's also a smoker, so it's a little harder to quit without getting her on-board, but I've decided to just forge on and try to be an example, instead of waiting. I'm hoping it'll be similar to quitting soda, although I had a good replacement in coffee. I just need to find something to replace my smokes. I'm thinking brownies.
  2. I just read that the boston-area cell network was shutdown by authorities, to prevent cell-phone detonators, so keep that in mind when checking on friends and family.
  3. Welcome to the guild. Dairy is delicious, and very hard to quit. Good luck with it, I'll be watching.
  4. Let's talk about music, and I promise to only mock you a little bit. Anythings up for grabs: Work music, Work-out music, preferred media formats, remixes, covers, indie bands, anything! Here's A+D's April Top-10 mash-up compilation: http://bit.ly/ZAet1A and the 2013 Record Store Day website( because LPs rule ): http://www.recordstoreday.com/Home
  5. Boston rebels: I hope everyone's okay. Let the rest of us out here in internet-land know if there's anything we can do to help you guys out.
  6. Thanks Wolf, and I know I have you guys and gals to keep me honest.
  7. Closing this, to move information over to my challenge thread http://nerdfitnessrebellion.com/index.php?/topic/27357-riotinferno-becomes-self-aware/
  8. I second this. I bought a joist-mounted pull-up bar + gymnastic rings combo on Amazon. I installed the bar, hung the rings from them and ended up using the rings far more than the I ever use the bar. That and the inverted rows feel more gratifying (to me, at least) then doing them from a table or chairs. The rings really do open up a whole new range of exercises for you.
  9. Man, I love dinosaurs. Checking in to follow the transformation.
  10. A brief search comes up with a few charts, but doesn't include all the measurements listed (the charts are usually neck, arm, fore, waist, chest, hip, thigh, calf ). Is there a formula or resource for this, or was this just some numbers you wanted for yourself. Thanks! I don't really want to hi-jack this into a technical-detail thread, but do you have any tips on what the best way to track calories lost by exercising is?
  11. I have one. On the "Measurements" Tab, where do the "Ideal" Numbers come from? Also, on the measurements Tab, it's sometimes linked to the relevant column from the Data Sheet. Here's a little helper function to retrieve the weight from the data worksheet for whatever date is on the measurements worksheet. =OFFSET(INDIRECT(CONCATENATE("Data!",ADDRESS(MATCH(A4, Data!A:A,0),1))),0,1)This is from the cell Measurements!B4 It takes whatever is in Measurements!A4, finds the matching date in the data worksheet, and grabs the value to the left of it. So just replace the 'A4' with whatever cell you need.
  12. Good job on the crow! That's one thing that's eventually on my list. I hope you feel better! Don't push yourself too hard.
  13. You're Dutch? That explains why I'm constantly confused when you're a good half-day ahead of me on twitter! Sorry to hear that you can't eat brownies. I'll maybe post it in my own thread then.
  14. You are Wolverine, a crazy feral beast! Good luck on the surgery.
  15. Here's to stopping smoking. That's on my list this challenge also. We can do this.

  20. Here's my 3 favorite cookbooks: Cooking for 2 - America's Test Kitchen. It's small portions and science! The 4-Hour Chef, by Timothy Ferris. I really like that guy, and this book has some recipes I'd have never thought about. We have a cookbook from our small home-town church. It's full of Hotdish, casseroles, and other staples of German and Norwegian Immigrants. If I remember, I'll post the world's best brownie recipe. It even has it's own mythos in these parts.
  21. I need to plan my bulks opposite your cuts, that way I can just follow you around and pick up all you're dropping
