  1. Today's workout went well. Started the Angry Birds workout a week early. Did one on Tuesday, and then another today. Skipped Thursday because I was too sore in the thighs from Tues' squats. Tuesday: 37 squats, 2 sets, 3 stars. Advance to Level 2 20 knee push-ups, 2 sets (quit) 1 star. 30 one arm rows w/ 10 lbs kettlebell, 1 set each arm, 3 stars. Advance to Level 2 50 seconds plank, 2 sets (quit) 2 stars. Today: Level 2: Squats: Set1 30, Set2 20, Set3 10, 3 stars. Advance to Level 3 Level 1: Knee push ups: S1 14, S2 14, S3 7. 1 star. Level 2: Inverted rows: S1 7, S2 8, S3 5. 2 stars. Level 1: Plank: S1 :25, S2 :41, 3 Stars. Advance to Level 2 However, I ate two pieces of toast with lunch meal, so not quite hitting all the goals today. Tomorrow will be a better day. A stronger day. Just have to resist the coffee cake that gets set out before church. Current scale reading: 241.9 LBS 26.5%
  2. Thanks Sarah! Me and the wife [WannabePA] are excited and ready. Did my first Angry Birds workout yesterday, and got to Level 2 in Squats and Backs, but only 2 stars in Planks, and 1 star in pushups (knee) It's gonna be an interesting journey watching those rep numbers climb, especially the upper body ones
  3. I've tried a few times to make this 6 week thing happen. Once while living in Atlanta, once in Nashville, and now I'm in Mobile, AL. My wife and I are ready to tackle the challenges we've set for ourselves. Pleasure to be among you folk again! Also, I'll contribute to the gif party:
  4. Main Quest: Get to ~200 lbs. Better fitness, and healthily strong. Currently 242.6 lbs and 27.9% (5/30/15) At 6 foot 3, this seems totally doable and sane, it's just going to take effort and time. Goals: 1) I will eat vegetables with every meal (ideally 2/3 of the plate) 2) I will follow the NF Angry Birds workout every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, trying to do at least one more rep than last time. 3) I will consume no baked goods. (pies, breads, cakes, pastries, donuts, cookies, brownies, muffins, cupcakes, cheesecakes, desserts, creme brulee, etc.) Side quest: I will help my wife create and stick to a simple budget using YNAB She and I are doing this challenge together, but we'll need your help and encouragement to see it through. We have a sedentary home life, and the motivation to get up and move is lacking. We both know we should, even worse she's in the medical field and KNOWS how bad off we are now. We need to succeed.
  5. Guided meditation was interesting, but i Need to learn how to sit better, so I don't cramp up painfully while the rest of the class is skimming nirvana.
  6. Went to the university rec center for the first time today, going back again tomorrow. Mostly got a feel for the place, and found where everything was, and a schedule of classes. Going to a beginner yoga class with the wife tonight, and then to play racquetball tomorrow. I'm starting beginner bootcamp bodyweight on monday, while i'm laying the habit of going to the gym 3-4 times a week. I'm signing up for yoga and meditation classes, which will fall on my bootcamp "rest" days, and work up to the barbells after the 28 day course.
  7. Got signed up at the gym last week. By Monday, I'll have current stats recorded. I'll also have researched a beginner's gym routine, and proper form idea. Got to look for a guide to help with form, then start levelling up. The main goal is to prove to Q that I am ready to adventure out in the rest of the galaxy, that I, representing the human race, am fit and proven enough to explore. Main goal is to get healthy and fit. To that end, in this portion of the remaining 6 weeks, I will: a) start lifting heavy things at the gym to help build muscle, according to the plan. sign up for and attend a yoga class at said gym, to build balance and stretch, and hopefully, reduce back pain. c) stop eating bread, and limit my liquid calories to 2 beers/week, striving for less. liquid calories will no longer help me. The motivation is that Q would have been right to stop me on my way to Farpoint in my current state. This ship is not the top of the line vessel it should be. We need to work on the engines (more power), the hull (specifically shrinking the torso's saucer section) and the warp drive (more speed/stamina) I know all of this won't happen in these first 4 weeks, but they are the goals for now.
  8. Thanks for the questions and support offers guys. I'm trying to do a catch-up write up, but it's taking time. I'm back on the path to victory. I'm in sales, and June is my client's biggest and busiest month. One more week and I get my life back in proper order, instead of working 10-12 hour days and getting wonderful non-paleo food shipped in to the office from my bosses.
  9. It's been a while guys: here's the deal. I'm back on track now, but my Fiancee's grandmother died a few weeks back, and it threw me off the path for longer than it should have.
  10. My purpose on this rock is to serve as a warning to others.
  11. So fitbit tells me I did over 16000 steps on Tuesday, which was MUCH better start to the challenge than Monday was. Me and the lady did Angry birds together last night after a quick walk (after dinner with free pie. BEWARE O CHARLEYS) Steak & salmon leftovers from last night are going great with the salad I made. Got some Wholly Guac and carrot chips to snack later. Gonna be a great day. Rain in Nashville just means that I can run a little faster, a little longer, and still stay cool.
  12. Okay - heads up all. DON'T GO TO O'CHARLEY'S ON WEDNESDAY! Wednesday is date night for me and the fiancee`. I'm craving steak, and she doesn't want something that heavy, so we decide to try the OC that's been down the road for 2 years that we've never gone to. They just revamped their image and menu, so sure, let's give it a shot. We stay strong, order waters instead of beers, pass on the free rolls, I'm getting steak & salmon and she's getting a black & blue salad. Doing well, right? WEDNESDAY IS FREE PIE DAY AT O'CHARLEY'S. Something about me: I'm a conessuer of pie. I love pie. I have to try pie, and it it's not a good filling, or the crust isn't up to snuff, then i can resist it, but I have to try it. They were good pies. Classic Apple and French Silk (chocolate). Also available are caramel, peach, and pecan. BEWARE!
