  1. Thanks! It has been really pretty here recently! We'll have to check out the hiking in the area - I'll start my search in the Farmington Hills area! I really liked Minneapolis from what I got to see of it in my little area. It feels great! Even if life is pretty dull it's nice to be together again. He also encourages me to be healthier...one of the main ways is harassing me so I take the stairs (5 flights) up after walking the dogs instead of wimping out and taking the elevator.
  2. I survived the travel! Because it was downtown there was lots of walking involved and I almost doubled my normal daily steps. I don't want to stop now so we've planned a long walk with the dogs this evening after work. Also the beautiful weather helps that motivation as well. And the walks should be much more pleasant since I'll be in comfortable shoes instead of dress shoes. I drank a lot of water on the trip, too. People thought I was insane since I was constantly drinking. Oh well, it made me not feel icky all the time. Hydration really does become a struggle while traveling.
  3. As usual food is the stumbling block. I didn't do a good job of keep track of food this weekend on MFP but I know I didn't stick to my goals. But we have been saving money, except for an unfortunate $300 for a new tire...the shady parking lot attached to the shady apartment where we live apparently had a large sheet metal screw in it and I ran it over. Yaaaaayy.... Anyway, the end of this week is going to be kind of rough because I'm going on a four-day business trip and food is hard to manage or eat at decent hours. I will be in downtown Minneapolis walking to and from the confer

  7. Doing good so far! Got my 3 mile walk in yesterday after work. I really didn't want to go at first because it was only 34F outside but once we got going I warmed up and was happy I walked when we ended. I also got that out of the way early in the week. I'm also glad for the long walk yesterday because it burned off the calories from lunch when one of my co-workers brought in a cookie cake, ice cream, and hot fudge. I had a tiny piece but it was intensely sweet. It's also nice that the hubby is home and when I let him know I'm headed home from work he starts dinner.

  9. Congrats on the purchase agreement! Hopefully the inspection doesn't turn up anything surprising! That's so true! Hubby and I have our phrase we say whenever something interesting, complicated, or surprising happens: It's always an adventure. This includes delayed flights, broken down vehicles, and (it took me a while to get to this point) after I got laid off last May which is what eventually precipitated my new job and the move. And now two big dogs and two adults in a one-bedroom apartment. Not for long...not for long...
  10. 11. Here we go for Challenge 4! I did well during the last challenge considering all of the moving, confusion, and stress. All is calming down now. Starting this Sunday, April 3 thru Saturday, April 30 will be my Challenge 4. Below are my goals. I'll be back Monday morning to update how I did Sunday. Diet: Make all meals at home (1 freebie/week) Diet: No gluten with dinner or after (1 freebie/week) Fitness: Go for a 3-mile walk 1 day/week Level Up Life: Save $1500 in April but cutting out excess spending.
  12. Got my goals figured out for this challenge! My weeks will run Sun-Sat. Diet: Make all meals at home (one freebie/week). This should be much easier now that Hubby and the dogs are living with me. Diet: No gluten/carbs at dinner or after (one freebie/week). Getting into the Paleo-ish mindset again. Fitness: Go for a 3-mile walk 1 day/week. I've been walking a lot more with a group of girls from work and with the dogs but I want to make sure I get one long walk (for me) in a week. Gotta start racking up those miles to Mordor! Level Up Life: Save money! We need a down
  13. Just got completely moved to Michigan (Detroit area) from eastern Ohio (Youngstown area) March 29. I'll be starting this challenge up on April 3rd but I thought I'd get my topic all set up while I take the rest of the week and think about my goals for this challenge.
