  1. ok, one week down! I've logged my food every day except Friday, so I'm good with my 6 days a week plan. Thursday and Friday my standard water drinking was replaced with beer, so I was short on my 8 glasses a day. Does it average out if I had 10 glasses on other days? (no, not really). Need to stick to the water, quit mucking up the easy goal. Still just the $50 to one credit card, but this week is payday, so that was to be expected. And 0 miles ran. I'm still blaming this on (using the excuse of) my cold. It's still not gone after a week. I'd tried to take the easy route last week and use the treadmill, but the one in my building was inevitably broken. (arg!) This week will be better. Payday will come, my nose will clear up, the sun will shine, and I'll run along the river. (in my head it's the whole snow white thing with little cartoon birds fluttering while i run and breathe clearly) (i think 7 days of nyquil/dayquil is starting to affect my sanity)
  2. Couple days in and staying strong, despite the debilitating cold I came down with on Saturday. I've tracked my food every day, kept up with my water, paid $50 towards one of my credit cards.. and haven't ran a bit. My nose is doing all the running for me (gross).
  3. These are awesome, and good call to get in 2 glasses of water at breakfast! And yes, it's great motivation to set a good example for your daughter.
  4. YES!!! Real rewards! You're a genius!! (Seriously going to figure out something similar for myself) (and not food, because usually all of my rewards are food) I love the 'wear a dress/skirt to work' goal. Because I have a hard time motivating myself to do that too. I walk to work, and man if I don't hate being the 'oh look, she's rocking the 80's skirt-and-sneakers look' person for everyone to snicker at while they drive past...
  5. These are great goals, and you're right, it's going to be easier to stick to three than creating too many and getting burned out.
  6. Great goals!! And yes, make sure you stretch and strengthen your ankles, and give us some feedback on those apps, the yoga one sounds interesting!
  7. I have implemented paleo a bit in the past few months, you're right, it's going to help with the goal of losing 10 pounds. Good luck!
  8. good call with the 'daily house keeping', i hadn't thought of that as a goal... but i really ought to!
  9. These are great goals, I've given myself the same one with the water, with the same reasoning (it should be easy, but sometimes... it isn't). Good luck!
  10. hiya, this is my second attempt at a six week challenge, but since i didn't make it through the last one, i figure i still qualify as a newbie
  11. I'm also doing a second attempt at my first challenge, here's to knowing what we didn't know last time! good luck!

hiya! i just spent 10 minutes reading all of the other comments and it appears that you're all in Michigan, sometimes you get together, and at those get-togethers, you drink beer. just my kind of crowd. i'm down here in the city (which this weekend will be hosting the hoedown, a terrifying sociological experiment that provides astounding people watching), so if you ever gather up in this part of the state, let me know!
  13. Second attempt at the first try! I signed up for my first challenge back in January, but I'm sad to admit that after 4 weeks... I lost my juju. I was a bottomless hole of unmotivated, oreo-eating, apathy. I meandered through the last four months, looking at pictures of healthy people exercising, but never actually climbing out from the fort of couch cushions. So... with that confession, I'm diving in again, and since I never actually accomplished the goals I gave myself back in January (the goals that I so flippantly described as 'easy'), I'm climbing that mountain one more time. 1. A total of 30 miles in 6 weeks. I haven't ran in about 3 months, so this is my 'starting from scratch'. This is the goal that derailed me last time. I just got lazy and blamed weather, muscles, the need to make dinner, whatever. Anything to come between me and running. I have a half marathon in a little over 4 months. If I don't start training now, I never will. 2. Track my eating in my online journal at least 6 day a week. It's proven historically what when I stop tracking my meals, annoying pounds start creeping back on. I figure allowing myself one day wiggle room, there's no reason why I can't do this. 3. 8 glasses of water a day. This shouldn't be challenging. And yet, some days it is. 4. Minimum $900 paid to credit cars (while not incurring any new debt) and minimum $900 saved as vacation money for July. Nothing on the horizon until Vegas, so I shouldn't have any reason not to be able to pay/save.
  14. great job on the workouts and the smiling (heh). don't give yourself too much greif about the drinking, just move on to the next week. every day is just a bit more progress, a step in the right direction.
  15. love the statement of "i'm awake now", that perfectly sums it up!
