  1. Sadly I haven't updated my status for a while now. I still keep actively following few other people challenges, as well as read articles here and there. But that pretty much is the way I live, though. I prefer to listen / read and not to talk / write too much about progress, and let my work speak for itself. Maybe I should set a goal to post regularly for next challenge. So for progress: 1) Reading new articles mostly but catching up with information and multitude of possible workouts is quite fun 2) Have been eating pretty regularly, I'd say >95% of time I've eaten at least 3 times a day. Still trying to find what to eat and what not. I have stopped drinking coffee in mornings and trying to remove sugar from my food (more or less), and trying to eat more fruits & veggies. 3) and 4) Haven't tried any of these for a while, but I will try them in a week or so, to see if strength training helped a bit 5) Strength training is working amazingly. Have been setting quite a few personal records with bench press, barbell squats and dead-lifts and few other exercises. Overall I think I'm doing pretty good, could be going better I guess, but there is always way to improve
  2. Great work substix! You've been keeping with your goals with amazing progress! Good luck on getting a better job, but I guess that offer will do for now.
  3. Awesome substix I hope you get the job you want, so I would suggest not to accept first one that comes along, but look for one that you want (Feel free to ignore this!) R2Deaking, great to hear that you are getting sucked in by ASOIAF Reading is my favourite thing about airport waiting time My goals are coming along well too I've changed them few times now, but all in all is going pretty good. Listening to The First Law trilogy now. At the second book now (almost finished). I was quite surprised by this book, as after I finished first one I was not too happy with it, but after a while it grew on me. I think it information needed to settle as I finished it quite quickly. Now I can't wait to know what happens next. And with that, I would like to ask: What books have you read that you didn't like at first, but liked later after re-reading or simple passing of time? Or were there any books that were the opposite - first liked, but then started to hate it?
  4. Well it seems that my goals need adjusting as had a pleasant surprise from trainer in work gym. He set-up a strength training routine for next 3 months with 4 workouts a week, and I really want to do this. So I will actually be setting this as 5th my goal. As for other goals: 1) Have been reading quite a lot of articles lately. I really want to buy five finger shoes now and run a bit more 2) Still eating pretty regularly, so pretty happy about this part. Still wish I could decide on what I need to eat... I'm still trying to find some kind of diet. 3) and 4) haven't seen much activity. Doing pull-ups here and there (whenever I see a pull-up bar, I try to do 3-5 pull-ups). 5) Removing old goals (reading & c25k) and turning this goal into strength training goal.
  5. So I think it is time for goal update 1) Finally managed to start reading some articles. I've finished 10 as of now. 2) Missed lunch yesterday, but other than that following it pretty good. Even though some of the meals are not what some people would call meals :| 3) Tried pull-ups once more yesterday and managed 5 excellent ones So I'm pretty sure I can do 7-8 great pull-ups without problems, which confirms my starting status. 4) Also tried push-ups yesterday and managed 30, which also confirms my starting status. 5a) Finally finished the one book I was reading, so now time to find another one. 5b) Finished 2nd run of week 1 yesterday, I will probably do the 3rd day today (even though that is not the best way) as I'm not sure I will be able to do it in the weekend, as the weather is just not cooperating.
  6. Well you and I aren't the only ones who are worried about that..
  7. Yes, Goodreads is a great site, definitely worth a check. It is also great place to find what to read next and just mark what you have already read, for bragging rights and such As for Hyperion: It is a story about 6 people (more or less) and each tells a story of their life as they are all embarking on journey to one thing that is common to them all - a being called Shrike. There is a messed up timeline, interesting characters and plenty of science fiction. For example (science-fiction part), almost everyone has a chip in them that they use to access all the common knowledge, and they pretty much don't use memories and don't need to learn. It was very interesting concept to me. There are plenty of other things in this book too. So if you like these things, I would say definitely check this book out.
  8. Thanks mediavore Yes, I know it is quite strange goal about eating But I quite often 'forget' to eat and I am more that aware of the fact that is very bad. And when I do remember to eat, I eat whatever happens to be near and easy that time. It is a really bad combination.. I also decided to create a subpoint on my last goal (reading 1-2 hours, which will become 5a). I will appoint point C25K week 6 as goal 5b In the end I will choice either one to to gain points I know I'm cheating, but what fun would it be without cheating. As for status update: 1) Sadly haven't had much time to read articles, still have exam time at university, so that is taking priority currently. 2) Following relatively good.. I do eat at least 3 times, but what I eat is not acceptable to me. I need to work on this one! 3) Tried pull-ups yesterday - managed 10, but I want to do them proper, so this isn't great . And tried them today too, somehow did quite bad.. But oh well, still got plenty of time 4) Haven't tried push-ups yet at all. That is in store for next week. 5a) Haven't read almost anything that I would consider as progress for this goal.. 5b) Finished first run of week one yesterday. Second run coming up tomorrow. Also added fitocracy link in signature (as well as revised some other things).
  9. That explains a bit I watch quite a lot TV to be honest. I only recently restarted reading actively. Last time I was actually reading somewhat often was when Harry Potter books were actual (read: Coming out). The books that brought back my reading love was A Song of Ice and Fire! Though I did start reading only after watching first few episodes of Game of Thrones, but I did finish all books before second season started. And then Sword & Laser started at Geek & Sundry, so I've been trying to read most of their book of the month choices (though I usually start after they finish) and also many of their author interviews. As for science fiction book: How about Hyperion? I've only read the first book, but it was quite interesting for me. This was also my first audio book ever, I think. Also added my goodreads profile in signature And added both sericite and shortstuff.
  10. So good day to all! I'm a bit late to challenge (1 day to be precise), but as Sir Gendalf said, he is never late (or early for that matter). I'm 22 year old male who is currently located in Latvia with height and weight currently at 1.75m and 75kg markers. Only recently found this cool site, so I guess my first goal would be to explore things. 1) Explore the site and read articles and take some advice to heart. I should read 100 articles in the time +3 WIS & +2 CHA. One of my new year resolutions (actually started this few days before new year) is to eat more regularly. 2) Eat at least 3 times per day, +1 STA, & +2 CON. So now for workout goals. 3) 15 pull-ups in 1 set, +2 STR (I'm now at 7-9 pull-ups) 4) 40 push-ups in 1 set, +2 STR (I'm now at 20-30 push-ups) As for workout, I will keep only these two for first challenge. I will still do all the rest of stuff I do at gym though. And also one extra goal: 5) Strength training 4 times a week at work gym. 5a) Read 1-2 hours every evening, +3 Wisdom. 5b) C25k week 6, +1.5 DEX & +1.5 STA Grading is simple percentage of goal I achieve: A - 96-100% of fulfilled; B - 91-95%; C - 86-90%; D - 81-85%; E - 76-80%; F - <76%; So that is all people!
  11. Hi! I took the liberty to join this awesome group too My goal will also be to read a bit more and what better way than setting a goal. I will set a goal that is not too high: 1-2 hours of before bedtime reading. Currently I have not yet started a book yet (there are few in queue though), so I'm open to suggestions. Also I'm just wondering, how are you all looking at listening to books? Can I count that too? Need to get that rank higher on my audible android app
