  1. It's hard to meet caloric needs, let alone bulking, when your also exercising. How's adding a sandwich at the end of the day coming along? I find if I'm starting to lose weight it's helpful for me to keep pieces of fruit, nuts or jerky in my purse to munch on randomly. Going to make some homemade protein bars to try and oomph up my intake and get some practice before school starts again. I was thinking of either making some sandbags for at home or buying some online. How do you find they've helped with your workouts? I do a lot of at home training so I'm still considering them.
  2. Thank you 13th: Groceries are definitely running out. Happy it's my day off since my breakfast consisted of a couple English muffins with peanut butter lol. That was small enough though that it didn't affect my run by making me queasy, which was nice. But the run was lacking, my fastest mile was 10 minutes but I had to take a few minutes off in my free form runs and was going at a slower pace than normal. Managed to get one circuit in and my push up app done when I got home but I think that's more than enough for the day. Going to have a quick lunch then head down to the grocery store and pick up a few things. Looking at making homemade larabars with some dates that have been taking up space.
  3. You're super cool and a complete sweetheart. Started reason your thread since I liked your points system (might be something I try to implement next challenge). Loved the randomization and theming of your workouts. You're doing a great job so far so keep it up!
  4. Awe shucks, you made me blush a little bit :-). Thanks! The good thing about me is I have a really good innate sense of what my body needs and am not shy to take an extra day to just veg out and recover. Appreciate the concern though :-) ) Thanks Fluffy! I just sat around my apartment cleaning, drinking tea and carb loading like a demon. Good thing about living in an Italian immigrant city is awesome pasta take out dinners lol. Up and running today though! (Literally, will post about my run after)
  5. I had three open to close shifts last week so I completely understand how you feel. It's hard to be healthy when you're working that much! I ended up getting a bit of a cold yesterday but I thankfully ate through it.
  6. I got my crockpot super cheap at a church sale. Thrift stores and the like might have them for cheap as well :-). I'm hoping to buy a fancy one that's digital with w timer and warming features eventually *sigh*
  7. I found it helpful to know! I'm not looking to train athletes in the future but it would be something relevant if I ever did.
  8. 11th: Worked an open to close shift and went for beers with my ladies. Tired but good 12th: Woke up with what I thought was a hangover from a total of 4 beers. Went and ate something, drank a bit of water then went back to sleep. Woke up at 4 pm with what actually wasn't a hangover but a cold. Hoping to out rest / put eat it so I'm good to work out tomorrow.
  9. You're just setting yourself up for success when it comes to the budgeting. Actually having a plan in place is an important step in budgeting. You have three weeks left to implement it and rock it out like I know you guys can!
  10. Good job so far! You're doing great keeping us updated and overall you seem to be really rocking it out
  11. http://www.niashanks.com/2012/06/crock-pot-cherry-pork-tenderloin/ I do that recipe with cranberries instead and purée some of the cranberries at the end to make a sauce. Awesome date night dinner with a salad to start and I do a smashed potato or cauliflower with it.
  12. And yes, she could have made it a bit more scientific and a lot less anecdotal.
  13. I looked at a couple studies done and although there aren't that many to prove it outright there is a strong correlation between strength gains and being on hormonal birth control that would be hard to link to other factors.
  14. Good job on the deadlift!! Keep up the good work :-)
  15. Also returned my express reads so I don't get a ton of late fees this morning. Still have here books from my last visit so I didn't pick up anything new
  16. 8th: So after I did my bodyweight workout on the 7th I had a great idea to try this new app I kept hearing about. It teaches you how to slowly do 100 push ups and I decided that seemed like another fun goal to add on. I fully enjoyed myself but the next morning was I ever sore!! Not only was I a hurting unit but I had to pull double shifts at work for the next two days. Very tired and I tried to eat as best I could but serving is a harsh mistress for proper meals :-(. 9th: Woke up earlier to do my run, no dice since I was incredibly sore. Was hoping to close up the restaurant by 10 so I could do a quick mission when I got home but didn't get out until 11:30. At least I'll have another night to rest. 10th: Woke up at 8:00 to get down to the restaurant to open. Let the other servers and cooks in then went for my run. Did .30 less than I did in the last Zombies 5k which might have been due to not eating and having a milk and juice instead before. Might try a small shake next time. Biked down to the farmers market and got some local produce. Doing a quick circuit and the push up program before work tonight :-)
  17. Bought a huge zucchini at the farmers market today! Totally thought about this challenge :-). You're gonna kill it, keep up the good work.
  18. Half way through my 5k training! I keep train to remind myself this is like a video game and if I want to get to the next level I have to earn it. Did a new pathway today, it's part of a trail going around our entire city. It was beautiful and I remembered the Hub trail goes 22.45 k ( perfect for the Jeffro Complex and Plasmapheresis Awesome job!! That was super inspiring to read and if how happy I am for you is 1/20th of what you feel you must be ecstatic.
  19. Thank you for the clarification!
  20. When a mini-challenge arrives will it be posted in this general chat area or will it be posted in the Rangers Base Camp topic? Just wondering since I don't want to miss out!
  21. Very true! People in the NF community probably want to be informed about the effects their contraceptive have on their bodies and what what their options are. It's good to discuss this so others have a better idea and are able to make their decisions based on that. Hormonal birth control is helpful for a wide variety of issues besides contraception and this topic is by no means an attack on anyones personal choice.
  22. I hide a lot of veggies in my pasta sauces, meatloaves, soups and chilis. Shredded zucchini and carrot go a long way to meeting your requirements. I do a lot of "everything but the kitchen sink" stirfries. And purse fruits, I would never get through as many classes without a trip to the vending machine without purse fruits. Anyone who doesn't wipe their free weights and benches after doing their workout/set should be whipped in public. Hygiene!!
