  1. Thanks Raven, it should be although our run has been moved to june because of fire danger... which is a little bit disapointing .... but more time to TRAIN!
  2. So it has been a couple days since i checked back in but so far so good!!! I have kept my room clean and organised my desk before i go to sleep every night so far. Stretching and meditating on weekday mornings has been the biggest boost so far i feel calm and ready for the day while i eat breakfast all because of the 15min i spent by myself for myself. Although the biggest achievement to date is the 3.3km i ran this morning!!! I nailed it and i don't feel to sore either. I have warrior dash on the 9th of feb so if i can make it to 5km before then i think ill be well on my way to making the 7km. In a totally unrelated topic: i almost completed a clean 20 while rock climbing yesterday! Since I've started this challenge it seems more opportunities to better myself appear, there is defiantly something to be said of taking the first step and opening your eyes to the opportunities around you.
  3. Hey thanks for the running guide, defiantly going to put it into action. So 4 days in and so far i have stretched every weekday morning followed by 2-3 min of mediation ( i tried pard89's technique it worked really well, little bit slower to get into the zone but very effective). The 7km is still looking a little tough, it took me longer to recover after my first run than i thought, so instead of going for the 3km yesterday i did alot of walking, rock climbed for around 3 hours and went for a surf this morning. My calves are still a little tight but I'm felling ready to destroy the 3k tomorrow. I HAVE to remember to stretch after my warm up, i totally forgot and felt so good i just kept going....rookie error
  4. Awesome, well ill keep training and depending on how i go i'm thinking of signing up for tough mudder which is in april..... gives me a little more time to train . THanks for the advice guys
  5. Awesome ive got a month to get comfortable with 5km, once ive got that down ill be happy and ready to go.
  6. Hey mate Its my first attempt as well, ill be cheering you on through my own struggle
  7. Warrior Dash one month :)

  8. Hey guys so after signing up for my first 6 week challenge and joining the rangers my friend ( who has no idea im taking the challenge) asks me to do the warrior dash with him!!! ( check it out here: THE DASH!) Basically it is a 5km dash with obstacles along the way, i have exactly a month to get ready for it and it is a good measure of how close to my goal i will be 2 weeks before the challenge ends ( comfortably running 7km) So i was just wondering if anyone has done the dash or anything like it? any tips or advice for the day and training leading up to it? cant wait for the mud SheriT
  9. Day one is over!!! i did it. got some new running shoes ( new balance minimus t10) and took them out for a test run and to gauge how close to my 7k goal i am. I made it 2.18 km before my right calf started to give me trouble, i had the energy to keep going i just need to warm up and stretch more before i start. so friday i will give it another shot with a proper warm up im aiming for 3-->3.5 km. If anyone has some advice on running training or know any good articles that can help me set up a training program that would be awesome.
  10. I dont think it is too much of a stretch, you just need to find out what motivates him. Maybe he needs a bit of healthy competition, you dont have to train together to compete.
  11. Hey Pard89, that sounds awesome! ill give it a try tomorrow morning and tell you how it goes. thanks for the support
  12. So today is the big test, and so far so good. I cleaned up my room and desk last night During the black out we had ( just to make things a little bit more difficult ). This morning i woke up put on some bonobo to chill out to and stretch for a solid 10 min ( mostly hip and leg region). Following my stretch i began my first attempt at a little meditation. Meditation: lay flat on the floor in a neutral position Begin breath long deep breaths to the bottom of your gut ( try not to inflate your chest too much) bring your hand slowly up to horizontal and your legs up, soles of your feet together knees pointing out continue to breath while your legs slowly move closer to the ground. Well the 2 min ended alot quicker than i thought it would so tomorrow im going to try for 3 min. I feel relaxed and organised ready to tackle the day of work, friends and ultimately my first attempt at the 7k bay run to see how far i can make it. Feeling good, ready for anything. SheriT
  13. Thanks Tank ill be doing my best. The rangers just seemed like the way to go with the combination of strength and endurance thats the dream anyways.
  14. Hey, Thanks for the support. Tomorrow is the first big test ive got plenty of uni work to do, a job to hunt down, training session and beach with my mates......Although i really really enjoy having everything planned out and busy. Also i read your challenge.... Goodluck! ill be cheering you on while i struggle with mine
  15. Hey guys, so i decided this morning that i should stop lurking on NF and sign up for the rebellion. Im here to find balance in my life, i have been active most of my life however i find it difficult to maintain a balance between study, training, extra commitments and my friends and family. I believe that all of these things are important and i can only excell in one area of my life with the help of the others. so I'm here to achieve EQUILIBRIUM Thanks for your help in advance SheriT
