  1. Nice job getting back on the BBWW! How many times a week do you want to try and do that? What are you using for your dumbell rows now? You def got the walking down!!
  2. I have a longwaytogo on my fitness goals (; Dammitt now you know my real first name; yes that's right a kid with 007 for a first name gets mad repsect
  3. Hey Vetinari! Thought this might be the Forum you were on from you previously mentioning the Beginner Body Weight Workout. Man I still read most of Steve's articles and actually read his book too; but it's been 3 years since I've been on the boards! Must be spending all my time on the other one. I saw another post of yours (one of your Challenge threads maybe?) where you said the ANW was possibly more of a motivation than a goal. Ever consider an intermediate goal of something fun like a Warrior Dash or Tough Mudder type event? They include running but also lot's of fun obstacles and mud and beer (which you can give to a friend)
  4. Hey Man, great job on the Challenge. Sounds like you were disappointed to miss the Yoga but seems like you got a ton of workouts in to me. As for budgeting, it is toughhhhh when you have some money and freedom and feel like doing whatever you want. Speaking from personal experience I spent my 20's traveling the country (and a few others) which was a ton of fun. (I'm 32 now) But I am paying for it now; literally and figurativley. My only small word of advice would be "rainy day fund/savings account". I made the mistake of only saving for retirement and took a beating in penalties and taxes when I had to liquidate them after losing my job and having my daughter. In hind sight I would not have even thought about retirement until I had 10-20K in the bank. Anyway, looking forward to following/chatting along with you for the next Challenges. Sounds like you have some good ideas.
  5. So my final results are- 1. Run 2 a week and bike 3 times total - only ran like 6/12 and biked 2/3 so i will give 1 STA pt of the 3 2. Did 6 pullups last night!! so success - 3 STR pts 3. failed/abandoned 4. Goal to pay off $1500 of credit card debt - Actual = $1855 so success!= 3 Wis Points Looking forward to the next challenge, thanks to all who read and commented.
  6. Sounds like you had a fun weekend! I agree that Crossfit sounds worth the money over a regualr gym with all the personal attention you get and structure (not too mention results from what I here). If my financial situation changes I could see tryinng it out but don't think its happening anytime soon. I currently workout in my Dads barn where we have a decent gym setup with free weights, squat rack, and a climbing wall we built. I am probably 80-85 % primal and was thinking about trying whole 30. I don't know if I really wanna give up dairy and alcohol for 30 days though. I may end up trying a fasting/leangains approach for 30 days or the 6 week challenge instead. Just looking for something to break my plateau or drop the last few BF % to get the abs out for summer. Good luck on the GO RUCK heavy. Sadly I may have to wait until 2014 to try one. I think my discretionary income for the rest of this summer is gonna get me a new mountain bike (mines a 1998 and getting sick of fixing it).
  7. Got my weights and pull ups in last night. Calves ended up being super sore after my run the other day. Finally feeling back to normal now. May try and get a run or stairs in tonight. We'll see how it goes.
  8. Improved skiing and various life skills for the win !! I noticed the same thing with my mountain biking after losing weight and going Primal. I used to be dying to stop for rest/water. Now half the time I complete my loop and realize I never stopped. Great job on the lifting and running, too bad that darn work is getting in the way. If only we were all independantly wealthy we could workout/run and ski all day; alas the weekend warrior it is for most of us. But sounds like you have still been getting quite a bit in. Congrats on the house as well, hopefully settlement/inspections run smoothly. 1 more week to the Challenge, lets finish strong Rangers!
  9. I agree with you on the motivation, this is my first Challenege also and feel the accountabilty of posting on the forum has helped me stay strong through these boring winter months. Can't wait for mountain biking, trail running and sand voleyball to return!! The Pikes Peak meetup sounds like a cool idea, I hope you get some takers. Unfourtunatley I am all the way in Maryalnd so no Pikes Peak for me. Looks like a cool climb though, we did Mt. Washington a few summers ago on Vacation which is one of the biggest on the East Cast. It was a lot of fun. Good luck on your quest, your off to a good start!
  10. So got my first winter run in my Vibrams today with my new Ininji socks (had been wearing my regular old running shoes since around Thanksgiving) and it was pretty sweet. Ran around 3-3.5 miles and calves actually felt pretty good considering the long lay off (of course they might kill me in the morining). I also lifted today after lunch so had a good day. So week 5 - weights/pull-up -3/3 Cardio 1/2 - Still No Credit Card usage!! Still slacking on the cardio, I can't afford to ski much this year so I'm pretty much ready for Spring and warmer temps!
  11. So just did my weights/pull-ups and was awsome. Got in 5 legitimate sets of 4!! Huge improvement from Tuesday. Not sure if it was the extra day of rest (I usually workout tue and thur, didnt get 2nd in until Friday this week) or if I justhad a lot of energy today or what but it was sweet! Still no cardio yet this week though ): I can probably get one in Sunday but doubtful for tommorow so might only get 1/2 again this week. Oh well,I've been mostly focused on the pullups and weights this Challenge since I do all that indoors. Weather should turn in time for me to ramp up in time for Tough Mudder and Warrior Dash. Hope everyone has a good last week, I have enjoyed the accountability of posting here and conversating. Already looking forward to my next challenge.
  12. Hey tracked you down from our mutual comments on the other thread about running/injuries etc. WOW!! your Challenge is badass, just read through all 5 pages. I also love James Bond so I love your theme, I still occasionlly hum the theme song and pretend I'm hitting bad guys with my poles as I ski down a black diamond or mountain bike through the woods trying to catch someone in front of me. I second your love of Deadlifts!! Just started them myself last Summer and my PR's have progressed much quicker then my Bench and Squat #'s. Funny all the talk of Crossfit, a new Box just opened about 2 miles from me MLK weekend and I have been stalking them on facebook and reading thier blog. Looks awsome, but I sadly cannot do the $180 a month. Oh well.. I May try to mix in some of that type of training at my home gym though. Anyway, as for Tomboy I come from the male point of view to tell you it ain't all bad. My wife of 8 years is sort of tomboy which is fine with me. She can be ready to go anywhere in 5 minutes and I don't have to watch her try on 5 outfits every time we go out. And she skis/hikes and golfs with me which pretty much none of my other friends wives do. A few years ago we went skiing in Colorado and I kid you not my friends wife's "make up kit" was bigger then my boot/helmet bag. Everyday she would be the first to use the shower and by the time me, my friend, and my wife showered/changed she stillllll would not be ready to leave for dinner. No thanks...for me, I thought she looked fine skiing all day and did'nt really see what she accomplished in that hour..lol Anyway keep on keeping on...
  13. Hello I wasn't meaning to insult anyone with the "coddle" comment, just my personal opionion of what works for me. Sounds like you were not but just wanted to clarify for eveyone else. Sounds like you have issues with your patella so it's warranted. I second you on the gloves, my brother in law who I lift with is always like "I can't believe you dont wear gloves; don't your hands hurt". And my response is "No, they feel fine". 15 years in construction may have also toughened them up a bit!
  14. Yeah man, Ravens victory was Awsome!! Ironically this was only the 2nd year I have not attented a game in thier History, of course it's the year we go all the way. Oh well, hopefully will get to at least 1 next season. I try not to let the pull ups get to me, was'nt that long ago I could not get 1 so all perspective I guess. The most frustrating thing is my workout partner (brother-in-law) bangs out 2-3 sets of 12-15 like it was nothing. Oh well everyones got thier strengths I guess; least I can out run him! Yeah, I'm siked about the credit cards even though I have a loooooooong way to go. But like they say a walk of a thousand miles starts with the first step.
  15. Hes BACK!! Your super bowl sounds like my New Year's, no matter how many times you over do it you still need at least one more time to learn your lesson. Oh well, shake it off and keep on keeping on. Awsome to be Super Bowl champs again though, sweet you made it out to the Parade. GRC in NOLA sounds sweet, you'll be there during the Mardi Gras celebrations right? Even though there are 2 weeks left of this Challenge I have started looking into ideas to try and do another one as well. Have been considering the Whole 30 myself. I have never done one, I think hardest thing for me would be alcohol and dairy (I started with Primal and have no real issues with lactose so I never cut it out). Have you done the Whole 30 before? If so how did you like it and did you see/feel some results. Anyway man keep up the good work as always, sounds like you really get the most out of your Crossfit seessions/membership. Your were not kidding about how much you love Go Ruck, thats 3-4 events just in this 6 weeks!
