  1. Tuna salad with a banana? Tell us more! I'm not sure how I feel about that. Love the lunch packing goal, that's something I have been trying to do myself, both to save money and to keep from eating fast food every day. Great start on your first challenge!
  2. I love having a 24 hour gym. Odd hours of the night/morning may be my new favorite time to work out. Which might be a little difficult on work days... Yeah, I'm trying not to sink into a pit of negativity (hard with my current overarching mindset these days). Fortunately, the observation that working out is so much harder than it used to be was more retrospective - while I was working out I mostly was just focusing on pushing and trying to do more, or better, or whatever. It wasn't until I finished that I was like, "Man, that was really hard. And I didn't accomplish nearly as much as I used to. This sucks." I'm not going to let it stop me, though. I just keep reminding myself that it will be a little easier next time, and the only way to get back where I was (and even further) is to keep at it. Haha, I checked out his thread and that is hilarious. I might have to start following for ridiculous bro stuff. I came up with it because I keep thinking of other goals I want to incorporate, and each of my updates feels a little light. I don't want to modify and add a bunch of extra stuff because I know I will get overwhelmed and fade out. Switching a different small singular goal a week seems to be the answer. I think I'm going to start with a water goal next week. I want to get an IF and adulting goal in at some point, too. Potentially one involving packing work lunches every day with healthier food.
  3. It's a swole-low. (That stupid video on Dill's thread is stuck). Lol. So working out still really sucks. It probably has a lot to do with how long I have been out of the habit, since I keep expecting to be able to perform at the level I used to and I'm just not there anymore, and the crap food I'm using to fuel my body. I'm also not hydrating properly, so I'm getting plagued by cramps. I just had an idea to change goal #4 to a personal mini-challenge goal, where each week I assign myself a mini-challenge for the week. This'll give me a chance to give some new goals a test run and build some better habits without overloading myself with too many goals for the whole six weeks. This will go into effect on week 2! Today (which I'm still counting as Thursday because I haven't gone to bed yet) I ran two miles and did the Away Team WOW for the Starship Nerdiprise challenge. It was sloppy and embarrassing, luckily I'm at an empty gym at 3am. No more booze this week.
  4. That was really sloppy but I made it through. One down, will add to spreadsheet when I get home! Sent from my 306SH using Tapatalk
  5. Moar videos! I definitely need to look into OCR specific programs once I get back into working out regularly and am ready for a more complex routine. Following everyone's challenges is getting me super pumped to get back into fitness. I'm hitting sprint intervals already, though. Sprinting just FEELS awesome, even if I can't do it for very long. Something about really stretching out your stride and getting your heart racing gives me a huge adrenaline boost. Hah, who needs an excuse? I'm famous for going to kids movies and activities just me and a friend/boyfriend. 25 year old kid, over here! Since I don't have or really want kids, I stopped looking for excuses a long time ago, haha.
  6. I'm all for competition with bragging rights and sh*t talk. There's at least two others (Nuala and Pavowski) doing booze goals, too, we should take a vote. He said it before I could! Bonus points for bro tank and bandanna. I really, seriously hope this guy is for real. Swoly Bible.
  7. I'm jealous of your DOMS. I didn't think I would ever say that. That is all.
  8. That carving is pretty cool! I think you'll progress quickly with practice, and awesome to see you are getting a solid start right at the beginning of the challenge!
  9. You are so organized! I like your reward system you have set up for yourself, too. One of my coworkers recently started doing the 21 day fix. How are you liking it so far?
  10. Hooray for goals! I had totally forgotten about IF, I might have to steal that goal. I like the flexibility stuff, too. Looking forward to following your progress, and absolutely ecstatic you decided to stick around for the challenge! And we need to get that booze support group going!
  11. I wanted to burst your bubble and say coconut is not a fruit, but upon further research it appears it CAN be classified as a fruit. However, the fuzzy brown coconuts sold in non-tropical countries is apparently the coconut seed, not the whole fruit, and the fleshy white part and water inside the coconut is the inside of the seed. So really that doughnut was covered in shaved seed innards. It also looked delicious. I have several friends that take melatonin and swear by it. I have read some negative side effects from long term melatonin use, but I can't find any articles to back that up at the moment. I personally have only tried taking it a couple of times and didn't notice any remarkable difference, but from what I have read, the dosage varies widely from person to person.
  12. This has summed up my life lately. These days happen, and you have an awesome attitude to just leave it behind you. I applaud you. Also, all the barbell work and feedback seriously makes me want to go back to weightlifting. Maybe one day.
  13. As I'm thinking of new challenge goals for the next challenge I am going to put them down here so I have them stored somewhere. My head is notoriously unreliable storage, I'm awesome at coming up with brilliant ideas then completely forgetting them before I can execute. Totally want to steal Raptron's procrastisnacking goal. +1 point for adulting, -1 point for snacking. Along those lines, I would eventually like to overhaul my entire diet, as I have fallen into the pit of eating terrible food at inconsistent times in inconsistent amounts due to being broke and depressed. I have ingested way too much ramen and spaghetti with meatballs. With the new job comes a bigger paycheck and the ability to buy real food again. So food related goals will be in my future. I also am going to dedicate myself to the mini-challenge for an opportunity to broaden my fitness horizons, especially since I'm keeping my fitness goals stupidly simple this time around. I was considering changing my running goal to follow the workout plan tenaciousglee posted, but the key to this challenge is just to force myself to do SOMETHING. Once I get good at doing SOMETHING then I can focus in on doing the right things.
  14. That's actually a really interesting tactic. I'm not sure if sloth or gluttony would be the deadly sin to win that battle...
  15. I'm here for the Away Team! I will definitely get a workout in today (not right this minute - I just ate).
  16. Coming in late, but Away Team it is for me! My challenge is super simple with running being the only required fitness, so it's the perfect setup for the widely varied ass kicking that will be the HIIT WOWs.
  17. So first update of the challenge: I haven't run yet this week and I already had one drink. There's still plenty of the week left to go, though, so the runs will happen. I took a day trip to DC with my best friend to see our favorite band and had one gin and tonic during the concert. It was a dumb decision; it was super expensive and pretty small and I barely felt any of the alcohol because I'm a professional drinker and it was tiny, but DAMN did it taste good after walking 8 miles around DC in the heat all day. So I'm forgiving myself for that one and saying no more. Off to a wonderful start. Honestly, with all my OCR work I probably fit better in the Rangers, but the Assassins possess skills I badly want to learn and hone, so this is my new home. Even though I'm only focusing on running this time around. And the wolf tag referred to the song in my first post, haha. Well, and that my character is now a werewolf, going for a little symbolism with the shapeshifter thing. Damn right. Also, I must show you my OCR team logo that I drew, you might actually be one of the few people to get it.
  18. The Virginia Super definitely has the mountains! It is at Wintergreen, which is a ski resort, and there's a death march up the double black diamond. The whole course is straight up and down the mountains so it's more climbing than running. That was the real killer for me. In general, it's the upper body strength based obstacles that I struggle with. The running itself usually isn't too bad. It was really the mountains that made the Super so much harder. And yeah, there's no penalty for skipping or failing an obstacle in Mudder. Mudder also didn't have all the carries that Spartan does, like the bucket carry. Mudder is much more team oriented while Spartan is more based on individual fitness and training. They're both a blast. Sent from my 306SH using Tapatalk
  19. Yet another NF comeback! Lunch packing is a good but difficult habit to build, although it goes hand-in-hand with getting up on time, which just so happens to be another one of your goals! Set up for success. I have a lot of the same informal goals, since I would like to work out in the morning before work and I try to pack lunches to save money, so tips and tricks are welcomed. I will be watching for progress! Nice simple goals, I like it.
  20. PFFFFT. Real guild. You're gimpy, I could probably take you.
  21. Awesome challenge with kickass goals! I'm excited to track your progress. I ran the Super Spartan in Virginia last year and it was BRUTAL. I'm doing the trifecta this year so I will be hitting the beast in November, so I will be looking for updates when you run. I've done Tough Mudder two years in a row now, which wasn't as physically demanding but definitely more mentally daunting. A lot more "just grab your balls and do it" kind of obstacles. I'm really hoping to be properly trained up for the Spartan races this year so I won't struggle as badly. I keep doing this races on little to know training and just bull-heading my way through them. I keep coming back for more though, so that's something. AND I LOVE the Dark Tower series. The whole thing is amazing and impossible to put down. Great read. Once you finish it, read The Stand if you haven't yet. Also awesome. And Stephen King does a TON over crossover stuff from his other works in the Dark Tower series. It's super cool if you've read a lot of his stuff.
  22. Welcome back Nuala! I'm just returning, too, and for a lot of the same reasons for the absence and the return. This is CLEARLY the comeback challenge for all the old NF rebels. You know we have your back! The hooping video is awesome, and super random but I love your hair! A hooping goal sounds like fun. I'm doing a less (no) booze goal this challenge, so if we (Wolverine and Pavowski have booze goals, too) want to make a group we should totally do it.
  23. AHHHHHHH! You're back! And I'm back! Wait... are you stalking me? Had to have a momentary freak out, now I will go back and read and add more. Welcome back! ----Okay, I have read and will now add. 1) Hyperbole and a half for the win! I seriously cracked up over 'Do not eat all the things'. Also, I am doing a booze goal this challenge, too! We have a decent group of people this time around cutting back, 2) Sorry to hear about your back injury -- that is totally a better excuse to fade out than mine, but super excited you are working through it and getting back to finding yourself again. 3) CHEESE CURDS. 4) Back into the swing of things... with a kettlebell challenge... c'mon. The puns hurt. I think that was all for now.
  24. PANDAS! I need to step my gif game up. For now, an existential crisis
  25. Hey, wolverine and I used to follow each other ages ago, if it's the same one.
