  1. Mmm, your lunch does sounds delicious.. might have to create a paleo version! lol Glad the charm worked for ya! Anytime
  2. I'm jealous! You guys kicked it so hard today. But even if it doesn't become an official mini-challenge, we should do a team squat/lunge challenge, what say you? I think it's a great idea! (Largely because I can do it with my bum shoulder, but no one needs to know that.)
  3. HOLY CRAP I AM SO IMPRESSED WITH YOU PEOPLE, YOU DON'T EVEN UNDERSTAND! THAT'S WHY I'M TALKING IN ALL CAPS! HOLY EFFING PHENOMENAL! OOH NOW BOLD, YOU KNOW I MEAN IT! *at a reasonable volume* But seriously, Velocity SHOWED UP! I know we just talked about this, but let's have another round of "Ermagerd, I can't believe how utterly epic our accountabilibuddy team is! We are all so amazing!" Because it's TRUE! And once again, thanks to Jo for rescuing me and Heranje from our lonely 2-person group. Can we all be best friends forever? But without the sad stuff at the end.
  4. They're almost as bad as kobolds! If they weren't both so utterly stupid, I would accuse them of being in cahoots! *becomes mesmerized by random dancing* Wait, what was I saying? I think I'm good now. One of the benefits to being a fat-burner... the hunger goes away if you ignore it! That's right, body. You just eat up that stored fat. It's delicious, isn't it? I know, that's why i ate it for you But in all seriousness, note to self: Bring more food! All of my issues centre around preparedness. Can you tell I wasn't a boy scout?
  5. So apparently I did not pack myself enough lunch, because I'm starving. But I'm done work in an hour, and I know if I nip out and get something now, it will not be good. (There's an Arby's around the corner. Can you say curly fries? No? How about jalapeno poppers? Loaded potato bites? THERE ARE NO RIGHT ANSWERS!) So I'm on here, distracting myself. It's only an hour. And when I get home, I can eat guacamole by the spoonful while I cook real supper. What is it about Wednesdays? I'm pretty sure it was last Weds that I gave in to the ramen noodles. Curses!
  6. Haha, I guess we kind of hijacked Heranje's thread. Sorry! I sometimes forget where we're at, since it's mostly the same names all over. But great job with the kobolds, everyone! We may actually have this infestation under control... for now *Dun dun dunnnnnnn*
  7. I take a similar approach. Regardless of evolutionary availability, I would never get rid of vinegar, I use it too often! I'm currently using wheat-free tamari soy sauce, as I haven't been able to find coconut aminos (it's weird, I've found other Bragg's brand products, but not that). Especially if it's just in small quantities (and considering that would still constitute an insane improvements over standard diets) I just don't care enough to be a nazi about it.
  8. Come on, you guys, you have to pick up my slack! I promise to make it up to you later, in a format yet to be determined
  9. Hey, good job with the strength increase, that's fantastic! I know what you mean about the sugar.. In my experience, it's better in the long run to ride out the craving than give into it, and eventually your brain will catch up - but maybe some paleo treats in the meantime? I've been blending coconut milk and frozen berries together lately, it's really good. Or have you ever tried mug cakes? you whip together 1/2 a banana with an egg and whatever flavours you'd like (vanilla and/or cocoa powder are my go-tos, maybe a few dark choc chips) and microwave it for 2 mins. It gets a cake-y texture, but super moist, and feels decadent, but really isn't. Of course, I'm not one to talk, my cravings often still get the better of me! But I find it takes a couple days after giving in to get back on track, so I try to hold out.. and the general theme has been that it's been getting longer and longer between. Personally, I'm still feeling quite motivated - the support on here has been a huge factor in that. How are you doing in that regard? Let me know if I can help in any way.
  10. Especially in the quantities you'd get from a marinade, it won't do you any harm! Even a whole glass once in a while isn't a bad thing, IMHO (But maybe I just choose to believe that because I like wine:) ) Too bad you're not feeling great.. take it easy if you do decide to workout. Also, I totally thought I sent you some congrats about getting good news about your dog, but apparently not.. :/ But I hope he's still doing well!
  11. Hmmm, I got an email with a link that lets you save a copy of it. But it was *goes and checks* 3 months ago to the day! That's funny. But my point is, maybe something broke in the meantime. At any rate, I have a copy, so if anyone else is having issues, let me know and I will pass it along!
  12. Thank you for the reassurance. Intellectually, I know I just need to let it be, I mean I would give the same advice to anyone else! But I just want to keep pushing myself. Kind of like I want to weigh myself... but both of these things are not productive! For the record, though, I haven't weighed myself since we talked about it last. It was hard, especially this morning, as I'd had a good day yesterday, and that always would make me excited to weigh-in. But, I mean, looking at that, I can see that that is not a healthy way of looking at things. I think the focus on strength, rather than weight is going to be really good for me... but of course, that's why my shoulder being injured is so especially annoying! And it HAD to be on the kobold day.. Sigh.
  13. Hmmm, I don't know, but I would imagine I can send it to you, as it's just a PDF? If you would like, you can PM me your email, and I will send it your way
  14. Yes, I like MFP for the same reason, the database is so expansive, it makes things pretty easy. So, daily update: No wheat yesterday, and plans made for wheat-free meals today (leftover chili for lunch, and meatballs on zucchini noodles for supper) I did get a good yoga session in as well as some bodyweight stuff (I tried to do different stuff from the day before, so I'm still giving my muscles a chance to recover..) so I did lunges, planks, and then I ran up and down my stairs for as long as I could! (Aka not long. I almost died after like a minute and a half.) And I got up early today! Man, that extra 10 minutes makes such a difference. But, yes, my right shoulder is currently out of commission. I am going to forgive myself if I don't make all my chin-up workouts this week, because I need it to get better. It's bloody cold here today, so while I would like to think I'll go for a walk... I probably won't. I probably could use an actual rest day anyhow. Gonna build me some muscles! Hehehe It's supposed to be almost nice for the next few days though, so I am going to get some nice long walks in. And pictures!
  15. *Gulps down purple potion looking thing* Dude what is IN that? Bletch! This better be worth it...
  16. Guys, I'm a little embarrassed. I was slaying some of the stragglers hanging out outside the cave, and when I bent down to lop a head off, one of them snuck up behind me and BIT ME! Nasty bugger... right in the shoulder! I'm going to have to go home and bandage it, I don't want it to get infected. I think I'm down for the count on this one But I did manage to kill 12 of them before the unfortunate incident! (My rotater cuff in my right shoulder has been bugging me for weeks, and apparently my knee and incline pushups were the last straw. I'm going to have to give all arm-related stuff at least a few days off, or it's just going to get worse. I'm super unhappy about it, but I will just have to focus on legs are cardio for a bit). Good luck with the kill-fest to the rest of ya though! I'm cheering for you so loud, you might actually be able to hear me across the ocean!
  17. Nothing is really necessary! Of course, there are special things you would like to have, but really, you LOVE each other and you're getting MARRIED! The rest is small change. I got married this past summer, super casual - we had like 30 guests including family, my dress was a $20 sun dress, and we cooked the food ourselves. And quite frankly, I think it was just as, if not more, special than the traditional fancy pants weddings all our friends have had. Not saying that my way is the best or anything, I'm just saying that all the little details that people tend to get caught up in don't matter. Make it special with the resources (including time) that you have... and try not to lose your mind over one day! It already sounds like you're off to a great start, and I can tell you are clearly focusing on making it unique to the two of you... let it be a magical time, not a giant stress-fest! Haha that's my rant for the day
  18. Thank you! I don't mean to brag, but I am so proud of myself. My sister was awed/horrified when I told her about my goal. "Those are hard!" Well, yeah, I know. That's why I'm working up to it. But in general, I think being able to do a chin up is an impressive thing... And I want to be impressive! And nice! I'm glad you decided to give paleo another try. Not that I'm a diehard or anything.. I am a total dairy addict, and I simply can't afford grass-fed/organic etc all the time. But seriously, Well Fed is a great resource. Glad to be unintentionally helpful! Also, stay away from the MFP forums. Just stay away. Anytime I check them out, it's with a macabre attitude, like watching a car crash. Some caves are just not worth exploring
  19. Oooh, I've seen that before! Have you read "Fuck Calories" ? It's pretty amazing. I think every woman, and possibly quite a few men should read it.
  20. I've noticed that! I don't use the forum there, but I read the occasional post if one catches my eye on the side. And yeah, not much support or kindness going on there. This is the yoga sequence I did. My only comments are that: it was quite difficult to do the "Upside down relaxation" aka hamstring stretch against my headboard, because it's not tall enough. Also, personally, I would do the "Nighttime goddess stretch" last, because it was a very calming pose, and led to a nice meditation (I did it again at the end, because I liked it). It was difficult to change poses, because of the softness of my bed, which also took away from the relaxation element, so I would still probably prefer to do my regular routine on a mat, and then just do the "Winding down twist," the "rockabye roll" and the "nighttime goddess stretch" (I really hate that they made up awful corny names for these) in bed, as those ones would flow together easier. I'll try tonight, and let you know how it goes!
  21. I've been reconsidering my weight workouts lately too, because, like Jo, mine have been pretty random. Personally, I've been thinking about doing to Beginner Body Weight Routine, and adding bicep curls and overhead presses to it, and maybe adding weights to the lunges and squats. I don't know if this is the sort of thing you're looking for, but I think it's a good structure.
  22. I've been doing paleo for approximately 6 months now. I have fallen off the bandwagon more times than I can count! My best advice to to know that you're going to trip up, but to just keep going. Things will become more and more of a habit as you go, and then someday, it won't be as hard. I would also second buying the cookbook, "Well Fed". It is really, really well done, delicious, plus you'd be supporting an individual who is trying to help people, not someone just trying to make money at your expense! Cauli rice is a life-saver, and I love to use julienne zucchini for a 'pasta' instead of spaghetti squash. Also, if you love coffee, but not black, try bulletproof coffee! You blend it with grass-fed butter (unsalted) and coconut oil. You would think it would taste greasy, but it DOESN'T. It mimics the mouthfeel of creamy coffee, and lessens the bitterness a little. And this is coming from a religious creamy coffee drinker! Plus, if you don't have time for breakfast, it will keep you full until lunch.
  23. It sounds like you're getting a good amount of activity.. keep it up! And as long as your veggies consumption is going up, you're improving, so don't sweat it. It takes a while for things like that to become habit, just have to work on a little at a time. Maybe you should just try for AN application a week? Take some pressure off, but still work towards the goal?
  24. Thanks for the encouragement, Storm! It's good to know someone's reading.. I mean, you can see the number of views, but when no one comments, you wonder. Not that I'm doing this for anyone other than myself It's fun though, and gets me doing a little something creative every few days.
  25. She could feel herself growing stronger. Each workout, she could eke out one additional rep. It was getting easier and easier to swing Missy’s son, Hunter, up in the air, despite his rapidly increasing mass. Her abdominal area still waved the banner of a season of sloth, but she knew the muscles underneath were growing harder. She paused to thank her body; it put up with so much abuse, but eagerly responded as soon as she renewed her expectations of it. She had to remind herself not to get too self-congratulatory, though. She had really only just begun – and while a good start was key, she knew she had several long months of grueling effort before the real payoff. However, that was no excuse not to have fun! She begged off her clerical duties early, in order to catch some remaining sunlight. She dashed down the street to the inn, and popped into the kitchen, where she found Missy, attempting to prepare the massive quantities of food needed each evening, with 4-year-old Hunter latched firmly onto her leg. He let go, however, upon seeing Nzico, and almost bowled her over with a hug/attack combo. Nzico giggled as she hung him upside down over her shoulder, and turned to his mother. “I thought perhaps you might enjoy a little break from the monster,†as she sidled over to the pile of crisply cooked pork belly. Hunter, familiar with this routine, quickly stuffed as many slices as he could fit into his pocket. “I’m going to take a tromp around the woods behind the mill, shall I take him with me?†The look of relief on Missy’s face was repayment enough for the offer. Although she did have an ulterior motive: she knew Hunter wouldn’t last long in the deep snow, and she would end up carrying him. It would be excellent practice for the days when she would be carrying a heavy pack around, and it at least accomplished a greater purpose than carrying a pack of rocks. “Are you sure? You don’t have to, he’ll only slow you down,†Missy said, although her eyes pleaded for her not to change her mind. “I’m sure. It’ll be good for him to work off some energy! You ready, Hunter-boo?†“Oh yes! But I want to be the robber this time. You can be the lady, and then the sheriff.†Without further comment, he dashed off. “Coco, come on!†And she went.
