Attempting burpees after taking part in Adventurer mini-challenge=not my best idea ever. Had to break it up into two seperate sets.
-
Grew up in in Hawaii so always swam for fun and comfortable in the water. Then I started training to be "aquatically adaptable" for 5 months at Dive School. I've found swimming to be the single greatest benefit for aerobic endurance and usually makes me a better runner than trying to slog through miles. Supremely comfortable but have been working on freestyle specifically and being able to pace myself to finish 500 yds as opposed to sprint 50yds and be out of breath! Knocked it out with my challenge and happily going to continue swimming, hopefully increasing duration, distance and speed .

January 23 2013:
3up Goal 3: Went to an intro to climbing class with my lovely lady so we can go top-rope together! Proceeded to climb for ~25 min. 3 V0's and 3 V1's
6.5up Goal 4: Moving into some unknown or at least very unfamiliar territory in regards to grammar, will def. need to clarify with my in-house translator tom.
100 Burpee Challenge: 23 knocked out hopefully before downstairs neighbors were in bed, I can only imagine the looks I get trying to explain that the thudding is from exercising at 1130pm.
Assassin Missive Challenge 2: Used it as a cooldown after bouldering, same pigrowatog as last time

Good on ya' for getting back on the horse and reprioritize . As for the garlic I found http://www.garlic-central.com/garlic-health.html which talks about garlic being a natural antibiotic, providing antioxidants and managing cholesterol. It also provides basic guidance for dosage but all things considered the website is garlic-central so they may be a little biased

Huzzah! Glad to hear it and hopefully you don't get derailed by a Phelddagrif or something/someone else of a nefarious nature.

January 22 2013:
10up Goal 2: Upper Body circuit today, feels like I'm doing many of the exercises to failure .
100 Burpee Challenge: 22 completed as part of my warmup, don't seem to be getting any easier.
Assassin Missive Challenge 2: Worked on as part of cool down, pigeon/crow/cat/birdog man!
-
Well it wasn't pretty, but with all the straddle work I've done in the last few months, I was able to at least get into firefly for a bit, though I couldn't get the kink out of my legs. Still, feet were off the ground, so it counts.
*Tries Crow* "That's not too bad, maybe I'm a yoga master"
*Tries Firefly* "Ermegerd! *Promptly falls over* "yoga master aspiration debunked"

Keep it up Rebels!

How's your checklist going for today? I also know the feeling with a new game, Fallout 3 kept my brain from working on a basic level for a couple of days
-
January 21 2013:
9up Goal 2: Ermegehrd!, I feel like week 3/4 is at least twice as hard as the 1/2 program. I was dripping sweat 2 exercises in, needless to say I will be sore tom.!
6up Goal 4: Worked up to the next 30 min. lesson, consistency has been a huge help in picking up little nuances that I would have missed previously.
100 Burpee Challege: 21 knocked out, I continue to use burpees as a warmup to the rest of my workouts, seems to be working....for now!
Assassin Missive Challenge 2: Did a little yoga session, pigeon > cat > crow pose (difficult but fun, totally put a pillow down for eventual tubmble) > bird-dogs
Adventurer Mini-Challenge 3: I think I'll do my pushup attack on Thurs or Fri this week.
-
January 20 2013:
2up Goal 3: Went bouldering today for ~40 min. Climbed all 11 V0 problems and 1 V1 problem. Will endeavor to go climbing on a more regular basis because I love it and I've already paid for the membership!
5.5up Goal 4: Another 60 min. on Spanish, building up slowly.
100 Burpee Challenge: 20 and still going strong! (yet more winded then yesterday)
Assassin Missive Challenge 2: Challenge/training accepted, now to decide which ones to do!
Adventurer Mini-Challenge 3: I like pushups and really would a weapon with an edge to replace my bendy straw class katana.

Consider me animalized!

Huzzah! I don't know how you can make it without at least three meals a day. If I don't eat bfast within an hour or so of waking up I look like this!
(Maybe not quite this cute though...I'll let my wife decide)
Keep up the good work and best of luck with the job!

January 19 2013:
Goal 1: hoy no nadando
8up Goal 2: Week 1/2 over on to next progression 3/4
Goal 3: Continued research youtube/googling... got a new battery for the car instead of walking my happy @$$ to the rock gym.
4.5up Goal 4: Introducing additional vocabulary and different pronouns, think are getting a little challenging.
100 Burpee Challenge: 19 down, doing them faster to get the heartrate up and warm-up for TRX.
20 Pullup Plan: Thinking about taking this one a little slower, already putting enough strain on the shoulders and current set of goals may be overambitious with 35+ pullups in 15 min. or less.

I'm sorta ill. Really ill Friday evening, and not quite there yesterday. So I'm behind 29 now and probably today's 20 get added to that...Not sure how to do burpees when I can barely breath just sitting around.
Sorry to hear that and hope your feeling better, 19 knocked out, also my favorite number, what is everybody else's fav #?

Problem is, people will be wary of recommending an exercise program to someone with an injury or condition limiting their mobility. Because we're just some people on the internet. Even if we were, hypothetically, trained physiotherapists, we'd still be wary of recommending stuff, because we know very little about your issues, and haven't seen you in person.
That said, what I'd recommend is that you gather a couple of workout plans, and run them by your physio/rehab specialist/GP, and say, "Given my shoulder issues, how does this workout sound?" You might also want to do some Googling for specific exercises for strengthening the rotator cuff/injured shoulders.
I usually recommend the Beginner Bodyweight Workout to young assassins-in-training. Have a bit of a look, and see if you think it'd suit. Remember, it's not carved in stone. If (for example) pushups make your shoulder cry, or your GP says "no way", then cut them out or replace them with something else.
I'd do it (or similar bodyweight/rehab exercises) 3 times a week, on alternate days, and walking/jogging on the other two days in between workouts, if I was you.
And if you want to lose weight, your diet is the #1 thing to pay attention to. Don't skimp on the grounds that "I'm exercising now".
No wonder why you're the goddess of wisdom

Sweet! Keep it up the good work!

I would begin by learning as much as you can about your shoulder injury in order to better determine what kind of regimen you need to maintain or increase range of motion as well as strengthen it over time. I can't vouch for them yet but mobilitywod looks like a good place to start and potentially the Indian club workouts?

Smart kid in class? Joined Nerd fitness? Absolutely, welcome to the rebellion!
-
January 18 2013:
Goal 1: Stayed high and dry today...but not actually high
7up Goal 2: 1 more TRX workout left before new week 3/4 beatdown!
Goal 3: Although I did not go climbing today I got some excellent advice from Scarlet and have been researching technique and different climbing moves.
3.5up Goal 4: Yo no hablan espanol bien. Lo ciento
100 Burpee Challenge: Still keeping it on a part of the warmup
-
Welcome to the Rebellion Dan! I would love to pick your brain about different disciplines you've worked on and any recommendations for a wannabe monk/assassin . Look forward to seeing your challenge!
-
Welcome to the rebellion! Like unit562 said what are your goals? Take a gander at the the classes to narrow down what kind of body image you want.

Just another ally checking in (happily a WA state voter). This has probably been one of the most enlightening and honest discussions that I've seen about sexuality and aspects that are included. Just happily reaffirming nerd solidarity and NF members ability to support each other in all walk of leveling up through shared experience.
Anyone listen to the Savage Love podcast? One of my bffs from college turned me on to it and I haven't been able to stop listening/learning.

I would love to but we only have it for the PS3! Have you tried any of the DLC's?

Damn, I was saving my shoulders for the Kobold killing challenge.
*Surrounded by 524 dead kobolds * Need to work more on the camouflage though.
