  1. Thanks guys I'm doing a partially paleo right now, as I try to research an implementation plan. Diet is being assessed. I'm just cheesed that I can maintain a steady weight until I start going to the gym, and then I gain weight. I know it's just a number, and the goal is to feel better, and I do. But I'm still getting pissed off. As for the stats, I put this post up before reading your CRB, and since it's arbitrary anyway, I'll just do better next time.
  2. Delightfully sore! Wiccy Magic Muscles to the rescue!

  3. I am so sore today! It's awesome! The running is doing great, and I had extra time yesterday, so I threw weights back in. I used to do weight training after a 5 min warm up on MWF, and run on my off days, but with this semester coming I'll be busy with classes, work, and study from 7 am to bedtime on Tuesdays and Thursdays. MWF, luckily, don't see me in class until 10, so I'm thinking of making those morning workouts count. Did dumbbell bench press, 15 lbs, 3 sets of 12. Dumbbell rows, 20, 3 sets of 12. Dumbbell curls, 10, 2 sets of 12, dumbell lateral raises, 5, 2 sets of 12, 1 set of 8. Sleep is going great. Last night I wasn't sure if I was going to sleep by midnight, but if I didn't I was gone shortly after. Awake and out of bed at 8 with no alarm. Nothing to do today but clean the house and grocery shop. Whee! Weight is still a bitch. It's actually going up.
  4. Oh, snow days. I really want to stay in with a cup of tea and a book.

  5. Isn't it a good feeling, to find a group like this Glad you're with us.
  6. Looking good. Still doing well with the c25k. Sleep is wonderful. Asleep around ten and awake before my alarm. I feel so good that not one class has been missed. My old way tried to sneak in for today's class, but new me shut that down. Weight? Well, in one week my numbers have remained solid. Stupid numbers. Maybe next time I weigh in I'll see results.
  7. Hello! I took belly dancing classes for a month once. I loved it, but had a schedule conflict, and never went back. I think I'll look into that again. I love George RR! If it's in your budget, sign up for Audible. While I can't run to it, after I'm off of the treadmill I like to switch to a book to do the rest of my routine. I'm currently "reading" The Name of the Wind, and I just picked up the first Heterodyne novel (which I own in dead tree format, and I've read, but.... Phil and Kaja!)
  8. Hey TMP! The hardest thing, as I always tell myself, is getting out of the front door. It sounds like, with this post, you did just that. Keep checking in here, soak up the motivation. Clean up around your desk! You are worth a clean living and working area, and that leads to having a clean headspace. There's a reason they call it a clean start I look forward to seeing you around. We'll reach our goals!
  9. I wish I could go car free. Unfortunately, it's hard to do around here. We're talking about moving to Denver or Seattle after my degree is done, though. And we'll be a one-car-family then.
  10. It's not so much that I adjusted my sleep schedule. More like my sleep schedule adjusted me. If that makes any sense.
  11. Thank you everyone! Since yesterday, I've done some more extensive reading, and I think I put myself into the wrong class. (I blame the excitement). I'd be better suited to adventurer. If that bothers anyone but me, I'll see about moving. Or I can start my challenge there next time. (For the record, I'd love to Parkour. So the mind is willing) Today I woke up at 6:30, which is sleeping in a bit for me for this past week. I've been getting out of bed at 5:00, at least two hours before my alarm. I've never, ever been able to do this. I was always the last one out of bed, hugging the pillow until lunch time. My grandmother used to wake up around5 or 6 without an alarm every day, and it just boggled me. I should call her now and see what's she's doing. Since we're both up. As a result of this, I've been falling asleep much easier. I "stayed up late" last night, nodding off around 10:30. My track record has me up until 3 or 4 am, checking the new Woot.com, keeping up with friends in other parts of the world. Somehow, I prefer this new style. Sitting here, drinking water in order to feel hydrated, waiting for the sun to come up so I can find my workout clothes without turning the light on i the bedroom and waking my husband, and then I'm off to the gym. Steve talked about changing the type of person that you are. Apparently I'm now the type of person who gets up early and goes to the gym, and doesn't hide from the world in bed. I wear bow-ties now. Bow-ties are cool.
  12. Oh Bass, you're right. That made my heart flutter. That's one of the reasons that I love Joss. His strong women and his wonderful men. Tank, to quote Lester Burnham, I just want to look good naked. Of course, That's not all of it. I also like the way that working out makes me feel emotionally. I like being able to go through the day with more energy. I guess I just want more of that. Also, I just (like in the last hour) learned about muckfestms.com and now I want to do this. Lots of this xD
  13. My second post! My first challenge. Here we go: Last week I got back to the gym for the first time in about six months. Excuses include my MS, depression, school. Just excuses. The scale read 205. I have never been so heavy. And I don't want to be this heavy again, ever. Goal 1: see the scale read 199 or lower. We will never speak of that number again. +2 str, +2 cha Goal 2: run 5k without stopping. I've never been a runner. But I'm learning! +2 con, +2 str Goal 3: Miss no classes due to depression or anxiety. I've had this wall between me and the front door. I put it in a fitness list because when I feel good about myself, the wall disappears. +2 wis, +2 int Goal 4: In bed, with no devices, by midnight, five nights a week. can't sleep with the Internet at my beck and call. +2 wis, +2 con Let's do this!
  14. Hello everyone, My alter ego is Ericka. Usually I use DaijobuKitty when gaming, so I figured why not here? It's my superhero name I've been reading the blog happily on and off since I found it, maybe a year ago. I decided to jump into the community while reading about the challenge. I'm happy to be here already. 32 yo girl, currently a student of community health. I work with veterans, and I hope I always will. I am a Navy vet myself, and I'm very proud of it. I have multiple sclerosis, and I tell people that I make it look easy. I don't currently have a lot of the symptoms that many people identify as symptoms of MS. I walk fine ( with an occasional stumble) my fine motor is at 95%. I have issues with mood and attention, but I do what I can. What makes me nerdy? Games: BoardGames (currently loving Castle Panic, dominion, Catan, Munchkin Apocalypse), handheld games (cannot wait for Pokemon XY), console games (whatever is being played. So Halo), Minecraft. D&D and other tabletops. Fandoms: Star Trek. Doctor Who. Firefly. Oh, Joss in general. General, food nerd. Knitting/fiber nerd. Sustainability nerd. So, that's me in a nutshell. I look forward to being a part of this team!
