Hey, the challenge has started! Where u go?

I promptly got distracted by the end of the semester and a bunch of my students gearing up to graduate!

So, late to the party after RSVP'ing early.

Successes: I have been moving a lot. It helps that it has been a rainy, lovely May here in SW Idaho (which is unusual), so I try to get out in the weather as often as I can if it isn't thunder-and-lightning-y. The 'Writing diet" has been good, too - I'm having more time to work on knitting socks and planning some other crafting ideas, plus writing poems and filks that I could potentially use for SCA Bardics with a few changes of place names to real world or SCA ones, instead of Witcherverse places.

I haven't been great about bedtime meditating, but have been integrating mindfulness into my workday and trying to model mental health and self-care for my students. They are 14-18 year old boys, and think I am so lame, but whatever. No matter what I do, I'll be lame, which is incredibly liberating.

So starting again today - going to cook tonight after Shabbat candles and songs and putting weeStockings down, and weather permitting, will take him out for a hike tomorrow. Maybe invite a friend and her kids as well! Social interaction, activity for weeStockings, and a chance to move and play outside!

Sad that my favorite nursery (for plants, not littles) is by appointment only, no kids, so I have to wait for Mr. Longstockings to get back from business truip to do more in the garden than weeding, but oh well. Late start to the garden this year.

Great news - my whitecurrant apparently survived and is growing, my elderflower already has buds forming, and my stand of catmint has gone so crazy I can start drying some for tea now and have a ton by this fall. I also have enough mint to keep me in juleps and mojitos all summer.

  4. So, I've been remarkably creatively productive recently. My friend and I have cowritten well over 300k words in a little over a two months. Prose, a ton of poetry (since when do I write poetry?) and I love it, but I'm  . . .not doing anything else. I'm not moving, barely cooking, doing the minimum at work because the only thing I really want to do is write. I'm not dealing with the quarantine much - I still go to work, etc, but the lack of socializing with anyone has been hard, and I've been concentrating on fantasy way too much. I've also been ignoring my other hobbies and interests.

So hard limits. My friend and I are setting times we'll write, and outside of that, doing other things.

Goals for being a rounded person again:

    * Writing main story 1 session per week only

    * Move or garden daily (not just watering. Weeding, digging, building, moving)

    * Cook 3x/week

    * Meditate before bed

    * 1 outing with LittleStockings per week.

    * Back to crafting- work on knitting, weaving, embroidery, or sewing 3x/week

  5. Back to a job that I love. Some of you may remember when I was unemployed for half a year, and went to run D&D for my friend's students twice a week. Well, now I am working at that school,  running two sections of SCION, an English class, a Life Skills class, and general teacher aide-ing. I love it, and by not sitting at a desk eating all day, I have already lost ten pounds.

Still ttc, need to work on cutting back down on sugary caffeine, and then caffeine in general. Have access to hot water, so I can make genmaicha or black tea with a splash of milk. School lunch doesn't always have a veg option, but does always have a good salad bar and hard boiled eggs. Now to work in a bit more exercise in the course of a day, and a better breakfast than the Starbucks drive thru.

Long, intricate fanfic writing project with my friend keeping me A.) creatively inspired, and B.) inspired to work out and trek.

Went for a hikelet in the bird sanctuary near our house with Mr. Longstockings and weeStockings. Ran along with the little guy (he's two and a half) a bit, ran ahead and back while the two of them looked at a plant or bird, did a few box jumps onto a low stone wall, and carried weeStockings back to the car at the end, so a pretty good workout.

Then did some light gardening - got sun, fresh air, and some weeding done. Feeling very good - just waiting to be sure before planting sstuff.

Plans for Plants for this year:

    Runner Beans

    Tomatoes (Cherry and paste)

    Ground Cherries

    Lettuce

    Spinach

    Malabar Spinach

    Herbs

Winter squash (kabocha, Red kuri, Jarrahdale pumpkins, sugar baby pumpkins)

Summer Squash (rond de nice, yellow squash, pattypans)

    Dwarf Okra

Hi, Tzippi! You're never late to a Wolfie party :D

What did you think of the show? Have you played the games? Here's some more Witcher memes/gifs to tide you over ;)

I was a GoT/ASOIAF refugee, searching for a fantasy epic, and the Netflix show has definitely delivered. I gorged on the show like a striga gnawing on courtiers, and now am reading the Last Wish.

I'm not a very competent video gamer, but I am interested in the games, I may have to watch some let's plays if anyone can recommend a good channel. Or try to watch my husband play them, but Mr. Longstockings is a compulsive completionist, and I get really bored and frustrated. Is there a "super easy, I just want the story and art" setting to the Witcher games?

I have spent far too much time the last week exchanging Geralt thirstmemes with my friend.

  7. Eek! Is it really week three already? I have so much to check in about - good thing I have my Bullet Journal spread to keep me honest.

Week Two:  I did a bunch of planting and yard work, and went to my last Tai chi class for a little while. Did greens 5 days out of seven, achieved my "five days of activity" goal, and crushed my strength training goal by spending a good two hours outside on Saturday, building and carrying and hacking and sawing. Coffee kept to 3/week so far. Also managed my Craster goals, planting two varieties of summer squash, a winter squash, and cucumbers. Meditation went ok, 5/7. My only big miss in week two was I didn't do any meal prep.

    Week three so far:

Used one of this week's coffees because I came in an hour early for the all employees meeting. Ate relatively well for lunch, and keeping very hydrated. Goals for tonight include Greens, Meditation, workout/Tai Chi practice, and checking the child carrier and jogging stroller to see if they're ready for taking weeStockings out for a ranging.

  8. Week One, Days 3 and 4

Wednesday - I really felt gross and nauseous, so I failed my greens/Foraging goal, because I barely ate anything. Also didn't meditate with the Weirwoods, because I fell into bed instead.

Thursday - Used my third coffee this week on Thursday, seems I'm more reliant than I'd thought. Had a nice big green salad for lunch with the last of my sesame seed dressing. Ran around with weeStockings a ton, and realized I have forgotten a lot of my Tai Chi form, so I reprinted it out and pasted into my Bullet Journal. Did do a nice meditation on sleep before going to bed, restarting the 7 Days of Sleep on my app.

Friday/today: resisted the coffee and refreshed with tea and a walk in the sunshine to visit the chickens and the foal. Need to do good work during the day, because it's my Grandfather's Yahrzeit, so I'm going to Friday night services tonight.

Tomorrow is the Champions League final! Go Spurs! Go Wanyama!

  9. Week One, Day Two.

Did so much in the garden and kitchen today! Also siphoned my lilac wine into a new fermenting bucket to clarify. Will rack it once more for extra clarity before backsweetening and bottling.

Put the little boy to bed, did dishes, packed his bag for going to his grandparents' tomorrow, tidied the kitchen.

Now to eat a salad, do tai chi, and meditate before bed. Sounds exhausting, but itll feel so good later.

Anyone have suggestions for chakra meditations?

  10. Tzippi stops at the doorway, unlacing her boots and shaking out her hair. "Whew!" she exclaims. "The rain just wont stop on the steppes." She pads in stocking feet to the bar, and looks quizzically at the barkeep. He gives a half-nod and a smile, and starts to prepare her usual, from the long ago when she was a regular here.

Hi, all! Back from a sojourn with the Monks. Feeling centered and ready for some hard work!
