  1. Whoa...they have a chupy-thingy race in H-town?
  2. When I get into better shape maybe...
  3. Gears are either added weight or maintenace for me, but the rest looks sound.
  4. What's a relevant manufacturer to the shaft drive, frame saver, and composite rims? Also, would a titanium frame be more solid or less solid than a steel frame? I'm not too worried about cost; were this bike developed, there would theoretically be plenty of savings in maintenance fees and effort. Similar to making your own electricity through solar panels; you pay a lot to start with, but there is no constant fee over time to deal with, making the venture essentially pay for itself.
  5. Maybe, but with guns, chess, dangerous obstacles, swimming, climbing, and parachuting involved...I'm assuming this is what you're referring to?
  6. My bike doesn't speak. It's probably a Terminator. Yeah, I'm looking to make it not low maintenance, but NO maintenance. I want my bike to be able to be left wherever for years and still give a clean ride with no problems. Sort of like a faithful lover, if you know what I mean. Are there ways to strengthen the joints, make them rust proof? And some sort of joining method that does not involve screws, as any system like that eventually vibrates itself apart. So far, shaft and belt driven seem sound. More towards shaft though, I've been wary of belts since I broke the belt on the weight machine at the YMCA maxing out the quad press machine and made such a bang that everyone stared at me for a good five minutes...haven't used machines since, either. Looking into internally geared hubs as well. I found these; are they what you refer to: Internally Geared Hub Belt Drive Shaft Drive
  7. Maybe sometime in the future I'll just do it myself if nobody else does. Every athlete ought to be well rounded, and ought to actually have practical use of their strength. None of this pretty boy nonsense or grown men playing with their balls. A real sport with real applications to life. I'm quite sure the general winners will have a military background. Which reminds me...this ought to also include swimming and climbing. Maybe even parachuting into the race to even start...
  8. Technically, the first part with racing and shooting and knife throwing exists somewhat as a competition in Germany already, but lacks the obstacle course sort of races like we're talking about. The second exists somewhat as a sport called Chess Boxing, but has no MMA. I say revamp the two, combine them, and see who wants to play.
  9. Cold water training: Gradually turn down the temperature of your showers as you end them. Start off slowly, then up the ante. Feels refreshing, too, once you get used to it. Also known as the James Bond Shower. Rocks in your shoes: Ankle support, or tighter shoes. Or go barefoot.
  10. One of these days there needs to be a combination obstacle course race/pistol and rifle action shooting/knifethrowing competition which finishes in a ring where the final obstacle alternates between chess and MMA between the competitors in a free-for-all melee. Winner is the baddest sonuvagun alive. Ought to make that with national championships...see who's the baddest in the world...
  11. Yeah, like the Badwater Ultramarathon...points for finishing alive...
  12. If a bike speaks to me, I think I might have more problems than just looking for a bike to ride...
  13. For long distance rides, I'm curious. At this point, I've a bike for general transportation, and in order to keep the device on low maintenance and cost, I got a cruiser, and plan to fit it with foam tubes to eliminate any issues with flat tires. I've been trying to see if there is a way to eliminate or better protect the chain, since that would be the next most vulnerable part, aside from outright rust on the bike frame itself. It functions adequately, but I am well aware this is not the sort of bike to do anything else with other than short trips to the store or your neighbor's house.
