  1. Congratulations on the changes and progress so far! I started out about a year ago and the best I could do was a 30 minute walk. I did it everyday though rain or shine. As far as the body weight stuff goes, if you're just starting out, keep it simple. Monday, Wednesday, Friday, or Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday to start off with. It's easy to remember, and if you make it a priority, you can schedule around it. Besides, the body weight exercises won't actually take up that much time. Keep up the good work and keep going!
  2. Update: 500 KB Swings 865 Tabata row 275lb dead lift 80 lb overhead 100 lb bench 135 lb squat Still learning to do a clean with just the bar. I've had beer on 3 weekdays so far and those same 3 days i failed to eat 2 paleo meals. I knew those last two would be the most difficult. Not discouraged just yet!
  3. Unpacking was never fun. I just admitted to myself that I didn't need some of those things, so they got donated. Good Luck!!
  4. I've been perusing the Nerd Fitness forums for a couple of weeks now, and I've been really anxious to start one of these challenges. The time is here!! I'm 34 years old, but still pretty much feel like a kid. I will need that enthusiasm to reach these goals. I'll get some measurements soon, but at the moment, all I got is that I'm 218 pounds with a body fat percentage of 31%. It's cooler being the bad guy! They seem to have more fun. Who doesn't love Vader, Magneto, and the Joker? Lift (STR - 5) Dead lift - 300 lbs Back Squat - 230 lbs Bench Press - 180 lbs Overhead Press - 120 lbs Clean - 170 lbs Move (DEX - 3, STA - 2) 900m Tabata Row 3000 kettle bell swings Eat (CON - 3) 2 Paleo meals every day Restraint (CHA - 2) Limit beer to weekends
  5. Welcome! We are all willing to help. What specifically would you like to learn? Do you have a goal/dream in your head that you want to accomplish?
  6. YouTube is your friend. Squats, Deadlift, Overhead Press, Bench Press. 4 simple exercises that cover a lot of muscle groups.
  7. Welcome! Keep up the push up regimen. It's such a no-frills exercise, but it does wonders for the body. It also makes you feel awesome when you can crank out those high numbers. Keep pushing and you'll be at 50 before you know it!
  8. Kettle bells might be my new favorite thing.

  9. I would take advantage of the weights at your gym. Nothing fancy with weights. Presses (overhead, bench), squats, and dead lifts. I just recently started lifting myself and was worried I wouldn't know how to do things properly, but employees and other members of the gym were all very helpful in making sure I was doing things with correct form and the proper weight.
  10. Maybe start with long walks if you can't run for a long time. I think what's most important is clearing some head space to reduce the stress you're feeling. A walk in a park would go a long way.
  11. I have been doing some exercise fol almost a year now. Dropped around 45 pounds, but that's where I've been for the last few months. I guess the diet and booze are really the things I need to improve. Even my trainer noticed the other day that I wasn't getting any stronger or faster. Kind of just stalled out. Then again, I don't have any concrete goals at the moment. Nothing to work towards to. I appreciate all the advice and get some concrete goals for the upcoming challenge. Excited to start!
  12. Drinking water between each beer sounds easy enough. I will start doing that. I'm also going to try limiting alcohol weekends instead of almost a daily routine. Thanks for the support everyone!
  13. Thanks for the feedback! I do believe that beer will really be the biggest challenge. I think reducing it only to weekends is a good start.
