  1. Thanks for the recommendation! I'll definitely look into adding that to my routine. (:
  2. Right now I'm focusing on shoulder presses, lateral raises, and bicep curls. Do you have any exercises you could reccomnd? I'd love to add more to my morning routine. (:
  3. Thank you! C: I want to split up my workouts, so my strength will be in the morning, but I can run off my dailt frustration after work. I figured that was the easiest way to divide them, so hopefully I can stick to that! But thank you for the vote of confidence, and I hope you do well with this challenge, too!!

  5. Day One (2/27) - I started the challenge a few days late. As always, I started my day off with a cup for fat-free yogurt and made my way to work. I did not lift that morning, so I will be docked points for that, though I did lift after work. For lunch I ended up eating a turkey, cheese, and mustard wrap on a flour tortilla with a macintosh apple. When I left work for the end, I ended up doing a twenty minute jon on the treadmill at an incline of 6.0 at 3mph to 4mps. For dinner I ended up eating some of a pork roast and apple sauce. Around 9pm I had a serving of cheeze-its, which goes against goal two. Day Two (2/28) - I woke up not feeling to great and left work with a migraine. I did not work out that day for those reasons, and all I ended up eating was yogurt and cheese sticks. Day Three (3/1) - Stayed home from work again. Managed to get in five minutes of weight lifting and a twenty minute jog, along with twenty reps on jump boxes. This made the migraine worse, and later that night, as my medications were wearing off I ended up having to go to the ER. I did not eat much that day- only a cup of yogurt, half a serving of Kashi Crunch cereal, and a macintosh apple. Day Four (3/2) - Woke up with my head still hurting, but I pushed on to get my weight training done. I ended up doing a full ten minutes with five pounds of weights. After this, I ended up falling back asleep, as the medications they gave me in the ER hadn't completely worn off. When I woke up again, I did twenty minutes on the Treadmill with an incline of 8.0 keeping a stready pace of 3.5 while drinking water constantly to try and avoid the pounding headache that was coming up again. I increased my jump box routines by using a six inch box, an eight inch box, and finally I stacked them to practice on a fourteen inch box. After I cooled down from this work out, I ended up going for a twenty minute walk jog outside, just around the neighborhood to get some fresh air. For breakfast I have half a serving of Kashi Crunch and water. Lunch consisted of a bowl of corn chowder and an apple. Dinner was half a hamburger and a handful of fries, both of which remained unfinished because of my deceased appitite. Day Five (3/3) - My migraine has finally broken! As I lept out of bed the first thing I did was start up my "femme fatale" playlist and grabbed my five pound weights. Within the first five minutes I could already feel my muscles beginning to strain, but I pushed on for another five minutes before allowing myself to stop. For breakfast I am eating Kashi Crunch cereal with raspberries and a glass of water. As it is snowing, after breakfast I will be using the treadmill to get my daily run in, along with using the jump boxes I have in the basement. Day Six (3/4) - For breakfast I ate a fat free vanilla yogurt, mixed with raspberries and kashi crunch cereal. I did not do any strength training first thing, as my headache came back and I couldn't find the energy to to do much of anything, unfortunately. For lunch I ended up eating raspberry yogurt, a handful of peanuts, and a cheese stick. When I came home from work, I got to work on the challenge. I looked to T Nation for different ways to work out my glutes and I ended up doing ten reps of the hip flexor stretch, twenty reps of the glute bridge, twenty reps of the bird-dog, twenty reps of the hip thrust (which was far more painful than i could have imagined!!), twenty reps of clams and lying abductors, ten reps of the fire hydrant, and ten reps of the weighted bird-dog.

  7. A femme fatale is never without her fair share of enemies, but she has one secret combination to take them out—lure them in with a lovely body and then sucker punch them into next week. People might under estimate Raibix; after all, who’s afraid of a little Hobbit maiden? They are weak willed by default and hardly venture outside the Shire. This girl had bigger dreams, though; she wanted to see sights around the world and explore them. However, there will always be dangers there, and where there is danger, there are usually nice little bounties and piles of coins to collect. As any fresh-faced assassin knows, however, you don’t get many jobs starting out. You have to condition your mind and body to get very far in the game, and that’s just what Raibix plans to do. Now, with all that out of the way, here are my main goals for this challenge! OO1. Lift weights every morning before getting ready for work. Ten to twenty minutes may not seem like much, but it’s easy to fit in first thing in the morning and the results will eventually begin to show, slowly by surely. The first two weeks I will be using five pound weights—don’t judge me, I am a total wimp. ;p Weeks three and four I will up the weights to eight pounds, so hopefully by the last two weeks I can be lifting twelve pound weights. I tried heavier weights last week and let’s just say I looked kind of pathetic… { +3 STR } OO2. Rather thansnacking on whole grains, I want to replace my afternoon and evening snacks with fruits, vegetables, and nuts/seeds. I tend to not eat morning snacks, so that is not applicable. This, along with daily exercise, should help me reach my goal weight for this challenge. { +1 CON / +1 WIS } OO3. Speaking of goal weight, I’d like to be down to 135lbs by the end of these six weeks. Currently I weight 145lbs, but I hope that with more natural foods and exercise I will be able to lose weight quickly. { +3 CHA } OO4. As an endurance goal, I’d like to be able to run a fifteen minute mile by the end of the six weeks. At the moment I am able to run a twenty-two minute mile, but hopefully this is an attainable goal is I stick to it and just keep running. C: { +3 STA } Side goal! Run outside three times a week to get over discomfort about working out around others. { +2 CHA } OO5. Time for a life goal: after dropping out of college six months ago, I’ve been yearning to go back. I think that part of my problem was that I had no direction and I didn’t know which major was right for me. As such, I will spend the next six weeks reflecting on what I may want to do with my future, so I can work on ways to pursue that goal. { +2 WIS }

  10. { introduction thread here } Goal I ⧠I want to be down to 100lbs; at the same time, though, I don't want to be a twig. I want to have a toned body, rather than just skin and bones. Goal II ⧠Burpees have always been a thorn in my side. I'd like to be able to do twenty burpees in sixty seconds without wanting to curl up into a ball and sob. Goal III ⧠For a personal goal, I'd like to put a lot of effort into my up-coming cosplays. As one of my favorite hobbies, cosplay is one of the reasons I decided to get into shape, and I want to show the body I'm slowly developing. From Toothiana from Rise of the Guardians to Silk Spectre II, I want to really do the characters justice. Now, onto the log ~
  11. Hey there and welcome! I'm looking into parkour as well, so it's nice to know I'm not alone there. C: Best of luck to you!!
  12. To: Maleficarum D`aww!! Well thank you. C: To: Onelovelion It's nice to hear I'm not the only one who has had a hard time managing their Diabetes over the years! It was never an issue with taking insulin, like it is for many teens, but I never thought to test my blood sugars. It never seemed important, because I thought I knew my body better than I actually did. I've just started running, thanks to the Zombies, Run! app. At this point, since it's freezing outside, I'm using a treadmill, as annoying as it is. I can't wait for the chance to go out in the spring and have some runs outside. C:
  13. Thanks a bunch!! Lately I've been doing a lot of running, along with a few other cardio exercises here and there (ie. jumping rope, dancing). Then, to help with the toning, I've actually started looking into Burlesque. While it might seem like an easy and low intensity workout, the amount of muscles you have to use and the flexibility it requires is ridiculous. If you can get through a routine you feel really accomplished after, so it's totally worth feeling absolutely silly after! And I've been cutting down on carbs. I looooove crackers and other crunchy foods, which is one of the pit falls I need to get past in order to really get healthy. ;P
  14. Hey there everyone ~ It's nice to meet all of you. I've been following the Nerd Fitness news letters for a while now, and finally I motivated myself enough to create an account and join in with the rest of the Rebelion. C: Well, let's get down to the nitty-gritty ~ My name is Melanie, but I'm more interested in introducing you to Raibix first. ⧠Raibix is a cute little Hobbit. Standing at 5'0", she might be on the taller end of Hobbits, but with her average build and tendency to putter around the house, this race seems to suit her the best. Shame she doesn't have a tuff of hair on her feet- wouldn't that just be adorable? ( please, note the sarcasm! ) ⧠Five feet tall exactly and one-hundred forty-seven pounds of... stuff. Raibix isn't obscenely overweight, but she could definitely stand to loose some weight and tone her muscles. Toning is especially important, considering this she-Hobbit wants to become one baddass assassin. ⧠Where does Raibix stand on her stats, though? Let's start breaking this level one down. ⧠Strength : I -- When have Hobbits ever been know for their physical strength, really? However, on her path to becomong a true assassin, Raibix will have to become at least a little stronger. ⧠Dexterity : II -- This is where this would-be assassin will be focusing. After all, assassins need to be quick on their feet if they intend to sneak off silently after a particularly good kill. ⧠Stamina : I -- Hooooooboy ~ This is going to be the tricky one. Raibix might be quick on her feet- for all of thirty seconds- but past that? She's heaving and gasping for air! This is her secondary focus. Whereas ⧠Constitution : I -- Sadly, Raibix easily falls ill to disease and infection. It goes with her type one Diabetes. Try as she might, every time a cold goes around or a fever rushes the town, she is one of the first to get it. ⧠Wisdom : V -- A quick learned with the ability to complete tasks quickly and effiently, this is where Raibix is truly at home. She could educate you about fitness without any problems, she just needs to apply the lessons she knows to her own life. ⧠Charisma : V -- It's time for the ego to attack! Raibix might just find herself more attractive than the world around her, but that makes her confident and extroverted and she can get along with people without any problems. Making friends? No problem. Luring people in? Easy ~ Obviously, there is always room for improvement, but this is one place where Raibix excels and it's what will make her a great Femme Fatale some day. So that's Raibix, but how about you meet Melanie now. C: I'm a twenty year-old bank teller from the North-eastern United States and my story begins in elementary school. I was always a little overweight, but it become especially noticable when I was ten years of age. As a young girl, I was a cheerleader and I loved the activity. I dedicated multiple years to the sport- eight, to be exact- and it wasn't until seventh grade that my one love was taken from me from girls my age who liked to poke fun at my weight. "She looks awful in that skirt!" and "She really needs to run a few more laps- she could use it." Of course, there were other things. Being a female nerd can be hard when you're young. Comic books and anime and a sick love for Japanese culture? Those aren't things your typical girl is interested in and sadly, that made it hard for me to make friends and get along with others. So, instead of continuing with a sport I loved, I quit mid-season and recluded into myself. Until ninth grade, when I switch schools and made a slew of new friends, I kept to myself and never realy put myself out there. I didn't join any sports teams or clubs- I didn't think anyone would accept someone who was "weird", "gross", or "ugly" ike me. However, some senior year of high school, I had made an amazing group of friends for myself and my confidence had greatly increased! Turns out. once you get past that teenage angst, anyone can become an amazing person. C: In that same year, however, I started a two year exploration into the negative effects of dieting pills. First it felt like I was on top of the world. I started with Green Tea pills and they gave me a boost of caffeine to get through the day. I figured that if I took them, with or without exercise, I would still lose the weight. When I didn't lose anything, though, I switched to something that everyone knows. HydroxyCut. It became my own personal hell. At first I was losing weight. I was in college without much time to workout and sadly those five weekly essays took precidence over going to the gym, so I popped two pills when I woke up in the morning and two more in the afternoon. I was in the first four weeks of my Sophomore year when I stopped. In my family's living room, when everyone else was at work, I just stopped moving, sank to the floor, and cried until I passed out. As a person who lived with anxiety problems, I thought these were just symptoms of a panic attack. But then another episode happened two days later. Then again a week later. Two weeks into these attacks, I found myself dropping out of college because I couldn't face the world. I refused to leave my room because all I could do was cry. Finally, I ran out of the pills and I realized only a few days later- they were replicating the signs of anxiety and amplifying them. To say HydroxyCut ruined my college career is an understatement, but it helped to cement one thing in my mind-- I needed to lose weight in a healthy, natural way. Rather than look for instant gratification from drugs, I need to change my eating habits and add work outs to my life. So, here I am. It's time to begin a new life on my way to becoming the Femme Fatale I know is inside of me. C: This is where I am currently, but hopefully I'll drop down in size and become the woman I know is in me.
