  1. Welcome to NF! I'm trying to lose 60+ lb. maybe we can help each other out. I saw that you are entering the next challenge, awesome! And great goals BTW! I don't use a scale, I use *drum roll* Measuring Tape! But will probably end up getting a scale to see where I am. For sore muscles I recommend Magnesium, either take a supplement or make a spray. I also find that when taking a shower, and once I'm finished I turn the water all the way to cold, and just bask in it for a bit. It works everytime! T.V. junkie to, my biggest addiction .
  2. Hey! (My best impression of Navi from Ocarina of Time) Welcome to NF! Nice goals BTW, so sorry about the procrastination. But at least you are getting out there and not being me, waiting until the deadline arrives and hoping the turn out will be great ! Have you tried HIIT? I did it when I started running and I noticed an improvement in my distances. Plus, strength training can help to. I've never ran a race before but I want to. Not a marathon mind you but an obstacle course race, the Zombie 5k to be exact! Hope to see you in the upcoming challenge!
  3. What up?! Welcome to the Rebellion fellow Nerd! You have past into a world where other Nerds work to there life goal of not just playing, reading, or watching heroes dominate, but working to become one! The next challenge is coming up, hope to see you in it! We here at Nerd Fitness have made life changes because of the encouragement we receive with our problems both physically and mentally. You... , great I sound like my sister. Let me just tell it like it 'tis dude: Gamers, Video junkies, Bookoholics, whatever type of Nerd there is were here. I joined because I'm a BIG game and book Nerd. Plus, my family are not the healthiest and I have no one to encourage me in my workouts. I already finished my first challenge (D-), and although I could have done a heck of a lot better I gained something better. Friends and a trail a broken bad habits! You will find that here to! Don't be afraid to talk it out, we all just want to help one another out in our goals. I will see you at the battlefield!
  4. Welcome Annean! Whoa! That's a lot to go through especially for a kid. I'm a BIG Brian Jaques (R.I.P), C.S. Lewis, Tolkein, and Terry Pratchett fan! I've also started reading the Tin Tin novels after watching the movie! So, Online High Five *WAPOW*, nice! Sheesh! If someone said that to me I would actually wave like a crazy person and say, "WAZZZZUUUP?!" Don't know why that's always my knee jerk reaction to stupid people, I turn insane !
  5. Awesome dude!! You totally are a Badass!!
  6. Got up at 5 like I planned! Got my workout clothes on, took the dogs out, was getting ready to start weight training. Woke up at 6:30...it was all a dream?!

You'll get there, keep at it.

  7. Welcome to the Rebellion!! Congrats on the engagement! Don't worry you can make it and look totally hot in that suit as the reward. Oh blisters...takes me back to when I first started walking and running in my street slip-on shoes. A good shoe is a wonderful cure for those nasty blisters. I prefer New Balance because their assembled in the U.S.A, K-Swiss is a great shoe to, and Pumas are also a favorite but can be on the expensive side. Make sure your shoe is made for wherever you walk, I have New Balance trail running shoes. The difference with trail and track shoes is a big one: trail runners have a toe protector are a little bit heavier but sturdy, you could use these for working, around the house, and giving them tough love! Tracks are light and are usually padded for comfort on flat surfaces. Make sure the shoes don't have way to much padding. I don't know if this happens to you but to much padding causes my ankle to hurt. From my experience, the less padding the better. If you need any help around the site or anything else, feel free to PM me!
  8. WHHAAAAAZZ UP?! Nice accomplishment with the 60 lb.! I'm trying to lose a similar amount so I can go in the Marines. I know all about not sticking to a diet, it takes time and a steadily growing will of iron. Currently my will resembles a wet noodle, but I'm getting there. But I LOVE veggies unlike you, it's carbs and sugar that are my problem. But I've heard great things about Livefit, and having a meal already set for you helps, A LOT! A salad doesn't have to be just lettuce and tomatoes, there are a lot of variety out there like Greek salads, and seaweed salad. But it all comes down to dressings, I know you aren't supposed to have dressing on salad but I can't have plain salad. So I usually use Miso Caesar dressing which is fermented and is more natural and great tasting than other dressings, plus it tastes great on steamed veggies! Welcome to the Rebellion!!
  9. OK, here are the measurements: Waist: 39 Chest: 43 1/2 Thighs: 28 Arms: 14 Hips:46 1/2 They are in inches BTW. Actually, it's not as bad as I though. I always thought I would be in the 50" especially in the Hip area. I'm happy!
  10. I've always wanted a tattoo but then I think, what if I need to make myself scarce, that tattoo could be my undoing! Seriously though, I will get one when I get married. It will be under my wedding ring just in case something happens to that ring .
  11. WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WHINING ABOUT YOU LOSER?! THAT'S RIGHT I CALLED YOU LOSER, 'CAUSE ONLY A LOSER WOULD WHINE ABOUT THEIR PROBLEMS AND NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT!! ARE YOU GOING TO BE A LOSER FOREVER?! OR ARE YOU GOING TO GET OFF YOUR BUTT AND BECOOME A BADASS!? GET READY, FOR AT DAWN WE RIDE!! Was that harsh? Sorry if it was , OH! And welcome to Nerd Fitness!
  12. Now for a GNR public service announcement, Don't forget to welcome the Newbies, that is all.

Yes, must do more of this!

  13. I'm going to make one of my challenges focused on my abs, maybe losing inches around the lower part. I have abs, really! They are just covered under a layer of fat, and the lose skin of my stomach. Any advice before it starts as to what is the best way to just burn the fat around the middle. My diet is changing (another challenge BTW ), and I have completely cut out sugar. I'm hoping that will help it along, but I'm really concerned about the extra skin. My upper abs have shrunk and so have the lower, but the skin hangs down on the lower part which is annoying when it comes to trying on pants. I've been told that I'm young and it will 'snap' back, I hope so, I was just wondering if someone has had the same problem and if they had any advice. Took my measurements (will put them up here tonight), and I found out that I lost 6" off my entire waist! Maybe I should put it on the WOOT room, but for now I'm going to a Mordecai and Rigby...WOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAHH!!
  14. I already take 250 mg magnesium, maybe I should up it 1 on my 'special' days. Hey thanks for the spray info Essie! I could certainly use that when I get sore on my workouts, now I just need to find magnesium flakes. And I'll look into getting that Weightless tea, that could also be handy for my weigh-in in the Marines. As far as the workouts I totally believe that I should lower the intensity on my workouts. Yoga sounds nice, my birthday is coming up and my family has hinted that they will be getting me Zuzana's yoga DVD, so I will be using that. If you can recommend any other yoga DVD (preferably ones that don't put you to sleep with the New Age music) that would be great. I am changing my diet around to a somewhat Paleo style. Are there any magnesium rich recipes that you could recommend? Thanks for the advice Laura! BTW what's bc?
  15. Just found out on the news that they want to start adding artificial sweetener to milk, so kids will be more inclined to drink it

  16. I have a list of things to do before the next challenge, and I'm not afraid to finish it!

  17. Ooops! Forgot to put that in . I know the pill will make periods lighter and all but since I'm waiting until after marriage I don't see the need to take any type of birth control. Plus, I try to be as natural as possible with remedies and such. That's why I want to take something other than Advil. I use to take Cramp Bark in liquid form, you just put 20 drops in your water bottle and drink it. It really helped my cramps but not my bloating and fatigue. As far as exercising, I do a different workout when my period comes around. It's mainly weights but, I am just get so tired that halfway through I am to exhausted to continue. Which is strange for me because I usually have the energy of a hamster when I workout!
  18. I need some advice, I really want to get into the habit of working out frequently. But whenever my period comes around I am tired, bloated, and the cramping is terrible. The cramping is easily remedied with Advil (but if anyone knows of a more natural way please let me know), I am at a loss with the other usual symptoms. The bloating is something that really cuts into my workouts, it's hard to do sit-ups and leg raises when your stomach feels big all the time. And being so tired that I will fall asleep almost anywhere doesn't really help either. I am fed up at skipping my workouts just because I'm to tired or bloated. There has to be something that will at least lighten my period. The more natural it is the better. My cravings are also a problem but I think I can handle that. It's just a desire to consume high amounts of carbs and sugar. I've gotten over my sugarholic tendencies with just a piece of dark chocolate. And it will just take willpower to overcome the carbs.
  19. I tried Dragon Flags yesterday...it didn't end well . I can go up easily, and make it halfway down before my stomach gives up. I know if I lose more weight that it would improve them. So I will practice them everyday when I can, but my goal first is to be able to do Toes to Bars. I can't do those yet because spare tire flubber blubber kuddle bundle beer keg of a stomach won't let me!
  20. Didn't wake up as ear;y as I wanted, but I was up late finishing Bioshock Infinite! It's part of my pre-challenge, finish anything that might be a distraction, today is cleaning day! BTW Bioshock Infinite ROCKS!!

  23. Let me know how well the trx works! I have seen it used before on YouTube but, never tried it myself.
  24. Aeryn is right! It wasn't all your fault that not everything was done. From what you wrote, the house took a lot out of you physically so it's understandable that the workouts didn't get done. You deserve that level up! Hope you get better!
  25. Starting a pre-challenge...challenge. Just to prepare me for the next one, I am determined to get an A!
