  1. Starting to feel better, at least I know this won't be one of those LONG lasting sicknesses that goes on for weeks. I can't afford the time for that! I have this week to train for the run on April 7th, so I would like to get to the gym at least twice before sunday comes around. Constantly doing better with food and not stressing out about it so much, which a great improvement. I no longer am telling myself what I cannot eat, I am now focusing on things I should be eating... which pushes aside any room or desire for those things I shouldn't be eating. Yay! As for ART, I finished up editing a batch of photos for a friend's anniversary. So cute
  2. It's really good to hear that someone else didn't see results for a few months. I have a feeling it will be the same for me! I have to have more patience. Thanks!
  3. Oh gosh, what a week!! First, my internet stops working for the past 7 days. Finally got that fixed. And now, I'm SICK! Staying home from work. I haven't been able to workout all week Good news is, I am finally getting a hang of this Paleo business. It took me a month to adjust and I can finally say I have it down. I'm now 90-100% paleo each day. I'm even cutting out the yogurt. Very proud to take that step, it's been difficult adjustment after 25 years of eating one way. My 8k is only 9 days away, so I hope I feel better asap to keep training. After my 8k, I'm going to start more strength training.
  4. Awesome! Love that you got the wife and pooch running with you too. Getting everyone in on it, it's nice to have that support for each other. Keep it up, You are becoming the master t-rex slayer!
  5. Sorry I haven't posted, my internet at home shut down and had to deal with comcast. Using my friend's internet right now. Will be back on track later today the the interwebs... As for running... I've been training for the last month and a half for the Shamrock Shuffle 8k run coming up on April 7th. Hope the weather gets a little warmer, running in the cold sounds rough! PROGRESS: FITNESS:I worked out 2/3 times so far and going again today this afternoon for long run. I can do this! Right? DIET: I have been thinking that living a 90% Paleo lifestyle isn't unattainable, but I think my goal was I little to far ahead of myself. 2 servings a week? I've been able to get it down to only eating 1 non-paleo thing per day (example: 1/2 cup rice or a handful of pretzels). This is only during the times when I haven't planned ahead, so I know what to do! I need to buy MORE veggies and MORE fruits and eggs and just stock up as much as I can so that I'm not left to eat that junk. I've had a lot of success in my adventures of cutting out the processed grain, but I'm not done yet... the grain shost is strong and comes back to haunt the thoughts of the weak with cravings and hunger pains. I can take it, one step at a time. ART: I plan to buy some new canvas and materials tomorrow. In the meantime, I want to finish up some photo work that I've put off. WEIGHT: I'll be honest, I've shunned the scale to the corner of my bathroom. It's been evil and lying to me, and only discouraging me further. I've taken out the measuring tape, but I can see nothing has budged. I do feel stronger though. These changes take a long time to see, I know.... trying to be patient.
  6. Been doing really well, though I had a small breakdown of frustration yesterday, it happens. I'm so glad to have the support of friends and family Ran 3.2 miles in 35 minutes today. That's a lot from the girl who was never able to make it even a mile without stopping. Happy St. Patty's everyone! ...my neighborhood is crazy today. Wrigleyville, Chicago. Whoa man.
  7. Great progress with the running times. And love all the dino talk You are an inspiration, ROAR!
  8. Thanks everyone! Almost Friday, yay! Progress so far... Doing really well this week, better than the last. Fitness: Did 2/3 Workouts, one strength training, one 9k training, doing some stretches and mini workouts tonight and hope to make it for a run again on Saturday Diet: I've been eating healthier and less (less snacking on junk, if at all). Drinks: I had two drinks so far this week: 1 serving of sake on tuesday and 1 serving of absinthe last night. Art: Finished that painting, and on to the next. I'm collecting ideas and sketching
  9. Thanks for sharing your list! I loved the Hunger games too, but haven't read the others on your list. I will have to check some out
  10. March 9th. Fitness: This coming week will be great I know it! Last week, not to be giving out TMI but it was a lady-like challenge to even feel good let alone get an actual workout in. But Sunday I plan on running outside for the first time this year if it isn't raining. Diet: This week I've been loading up on veggies and meats. Had a nice juicy filet last night yum! Drinks: Had two drinks last night, felt in control. Art: Once again, I will have to prove that I finished that one painting, right? My next painting, I'm thinking I may do a Jack-a-lope. ha. Measurements and weigh in will come once again on Monday.
  11. Great suggestion, Koder, I will have to check that out! Thanks. I do need some other way to start logging more that's for sure!
  12. Great goals! If it's ice cream holding you back, don't replace it with other sweets (I have had a long battle with ice cream and cereal all day all night!) Nice job on the workout log, Keep it up
  13. Awesome job so far, looks like you are really making progress! Usually on these forums, many people are trying to lose, but I totally get the gain thing too. My friend and I work together at the gym, she is going for strength and gaining and I go for strength and losing (weight). Opposite, but the main thing is health I'm sorry I don't have more advice for you. Also... that IS a lot of reading! So cool, do you have a list of books so far? What's your all time top 5 fav. books?
  14. Oh my gosh, I just read the rule that says I have to post here 3 times a week? How did I miss that? Ok, now I know! (Doesn't help that my computer at work blocks a lot of sites like this forum, so I have limited access). Anyway. My first week, I made progress with some goals, but I made a lot of mistakes with food. FITNESS: I worked out 3 x a week, on goal DIET GOAL: My first week, I think I ate at least one non-paleo thing everyday. This week was better. Baby steps? I guess I'm still learning. Drinks: Still keeping the drinks for the weekends, and I was even the DD (designated driver)!! That's a first Art: Skull painting complete! Very excited, I'll see if I can post a pic. How do I do that. and of course I need to work on writing here and also visiting other people's posts too. I love reading everyone's goals, I just have to write responses to all you awesome people! (why can't I get the font to change out of "bold")
  15. Porkchop: Haha, that is why this challenge is great! I need to make it out of that room without touching a cookie. I like to paint in realistic things in a stylized way. A lot of my work can be found at: jamiegoldcreative.com . Some of my paintings are under the "Art" tab. I need to upload more. Currently working on a skull that should be pretty awesome. Affliction: Thanks, those are great ideas. love the nutrition print out, it would be pretty scary and gross! Kevralyn: Cookie box of doom for sure haha! I for sure try to bring in healthy snacks, but like you said.... treats are seducing. knightwatch: thanks so much. It's great to be here! *oops spelled nerd wrong in my first sentence. der.
  16. Newbie and already so excited about all the positivity and "go-get-em" attitudes. There has not been much support in "real" life, so now after a year and a half of failed diets, I'm so glad to find some online support that is going in the right direction.
  17. Newbie here at NerFitness! I've been researching and slowly transitioning my diet and exercise for a healthier lifestyle. Let me know if I'm doing this wrong. Ha. I've been on WW for almost a year now, lost about 9 lbs on the plan. But, I noticed I was doing it wrong. I was still eating a lot unhealthy things by sacrificing meal points for junk, drinking too much, and not getting movement in my daily life (I have a desk job, wah wah). I'm ready for greater things! ME NOW: (I attached my first progress photo) Height: 5' tall (cough cough, 5' short) Weight: 125 lbs Waist: 26.5" Hips: 38" Neck: 12.5" Thighs: 22.5" Wrists: 5.5" Body Fat: 28% (Using online calculators) So let's get this started! HIYAAAAA!!! FITNESS GOAL: RUN 8K, GYM 3X/WEEK, DO A FREAKIN PULLUP! *(Shamrock Shuffle - April 7th) *Do both cardio and strength 3x a week I'm a HORRIBLE runner, short legs, people!! This is a BIG time goal for me. The Shamrock Shuffle has been paid for and has been inspiring me to get my butt off the couch and into the gym so it's been a plus so far. Already started the "Angry Birds" workout and training to run that 8k. Need to keep this consistent every week. Can this girl get a pull up? RAR! DIET GOAL: PALEO + Yogurt *Eat only 2 servings of non-paleo items per week (except yogurt, which I eat daily because it makes my body feel great!). This means no JUNK at the office, no chips, no cookies, no chocolate). I stopped buying processed grains from the grocery store completely but I come in contact with tons of free non-paleo junk food at work that is sitting 3 feet away from me (3 boxes of girl scout cookies and chips galore??!!!! Yuck.). GASP, I already ate my two servings for this week! THis is going to be harder than I thought @.@ ALSO: ONLY 2 DRINKS PER WEEK *Limit alcohol to 2 drinks throughout the weekend. I already cut back a TON. 1.5 years ago, I could drink a bottle of wine a night (it was a cold dark place for me that year… we won't get into it). Now, I don't drink on weekdays but I still have too much for my little body to handle when I'm out with friends. What's the point? I feel like junk in the morning and wasted a bunch of calories. I'm a lightweight and need to drink like one! Maybe one day I won't feel the desire to drink at all, but we said we were making attainable goals. LIFE GOAL: ART IT UP! *Finish two paintings in the 6 weeks. Already close to finishing one, need to start another. It's what I love doing, it's what I'm proud of... so why am I not making time for it? *Also, get all boudoir photo shoots edited and out the door! Let's Do This!
