  1. Thanks! I'm not sure how many unassisted I can do....it's on my list of things to try out and see at the gym today. The last time I did any unassisted it was 3, but that was a while ago! Progress this week so far: I have created free-weight work-outs I will be doing every Mon, Wed, and Friday b/c they are full body work-outs. On Tuesdays I'm doing tough mudder training circuits in order to prepare myself for the spartan sprint in march....tuesdays was pretty difficult but i made it through! Today, I'll be going to a boot camp class at my gym that is the same type of full body and body weight circuit training. Measurements for my weight loss/slimming down goal will be coming tomorrow morning. I'm going to take measurements every Friday As for the paleo and eating healthy...i cleaned out my pantry! Gave away food to my roommates or donated it (some I just threw away) but now i need to go grocery shopping with my new "is it paleo" app...i'm kind of excited! I also did one of my 20 seconds of insane courage yesterday! It's a long story but I guess the short version is that I finally told the guy that I was interested in that I actually was....we have been pretty good friends for a little while now and it went well so far (at least i think it did...the conversation was kind of comical since we both aren't very serious/emotional at all)! We will see if anything comes out of it!
  2. Also, for anyone interested here is the link to the spartan sprint if you just want to check it out! http://www.spartanrace.com/carolinas-obstacle-racing-spartan-sprint-2013.html
  3. This is my first time doing a challenge on NF....really my first month on the site as well, and I must say I couldn't be happier that I one joined the rangers and two found this fantastic thread...it was kinda like this or in twitter speak
  4. Hey everyone! (if you're just looking for some inspiration scroll to the bottom) So, I've been reading NF for a few months now after I decided that I wanted to get back into shape. I was an athlete in college, and I kind of went on a working-out strike after training so much for four years. But, I'm back and have been wanting to make changes in my life. I tried doing it by myself, but I can only motivate myself so much. If nothing else, being a part of a team in college taught me just how much being a part of a community can push and drive you to do things you wouldn't normally achieve. What I really want to do is lose some weight while also continuing to strength train (I don't think I'll ever stop loving lifting weights). So, without further ado (b/c I'm already a day late in this challenge), here are my goals! Goal 1: By the end of six weeks, I want to be able to do 6 pull-ups on my own aka no weighted assistance or bands. (I think 6 is a good number, if anyone thinks this is too little or too many please let me know!) Goal 2: To lose 8 pounds by the end of six weeks. I will do this by sticking to a Paleo diet. I have been pretty good about eating healthy during the week, so the real challenge will be on the weekends! I may also modify this goal after I take some measurements on waist size and all that because I know that since I will also be lifting weights I may gain muscle mass while also slimming down....so the scale isn't the best indicator. Goal 3: To complete the Spartan Warrior Sprint in March without stopping. Goal 4: 20 seconds of insane courage. I'm not sure I can do 20 seconds of insane courage every day, but I'm going to work my way up to. I'm going to do two things per week that require me to move myself out of my comfort zone. I'm going to start taking more chances on my quest to stoping caring so much about what others think of me. INSPIRATION FOR THE DAY " Your greatest challenge isn't someone else. It's the aching in your lungs and the burning in your legs and the voice inside you that yells "Can't!". But you don't listen. You push harder and hear the voice that whispers "Can". And you realize that the person you thought you were is no match for the one you really are."
  5. Yes, definitely let me know next time you're in town!
  6. Hey everyone! First, is there anyone in the Charlotte Area looking to meet-up as fitness and/or health buddies or just to do some fun outdoor adventures? I was a college athlete and kind of went on an anti fitness strike when I graduated, but for the past couple of months i'm getting back into the swing of things (just discovered nerdfitness) and love the concept of team and partner dynamics! I also just recently moved to Charlotte so the more new friends the better! (especially any of you volleyball players out there....) Second, I'll be doing the Spartan Sprint on Sunday March 24th with some people if any one is interested and wants to come out/train together let me know! Look forward to hearing from people
