  1. I forgot to post my starting weight @ day 1 162.0. I will be tracking my weight throughout the challenge too! Workout 2 coming tonight...
  2. First day workout 110 pushups (3 sets), 11 pullups (3 sets :-/), 6 minutes planked. 100% completed!
  3. I'll get to that soon as I update progress. :-D
  4. Excited for #4 the most I think, and excited to read about your progress on your similar goal!
  5. I'm sure youll rock this challenge just like the last one, great goals. I too plan on running a 5k or three during this challenge. Sub 20min is pretty quick, but its my ambition as well!
  6. Thanks! During my last challenge I was doing a total of 100 pushups per workout and planking well, the pull ups are going going to be my nemesis. I have a heavy lower body and looong arms... great combo!
  7. So, I've been a little busy recently and have gone MIA from the forums.... apologies! two kids, crazy season at work, wifey about to graduate, etc... all my time is basically taken. That being said, Ill grade myself for this past challenge. Goal 1: Sleep: A. Reward: +2 STA + 1 Cons. - I smoked this part of my challenge.... New bed time is 11:30, up by 6:45 each morning... I love not rushing to get to work. I feel more energized and alert all day. Goal 2: Exercise: C Reward: +1.5 Dex, +1 Str - I did well for the first 4 weeks, but as work got busier, my workouts fell off. I've got a routine down, I just need to make sure not to miss! Goal 3: Diet: A: Reward: +1 Wis, +1 Cons., + 1 STA - Did amazing... currently rocking ~90% paleo easy peasy! Goal 4: Knowledge: B: Reward 2 WIS. - So i deviated from my initial plan.. I read almost 100% nonfiction... related to my next 6 week challenge....... Overall I started strong, but finished weaker than I would like. I did make some very healthy lifestyle changes and I look to continue the progress into the next 6 weeks! - Cheers
  8. Challenge #1 My first challenge here went okay, depending on how you look at it. On one hand, I developed and maintained ~90% paleo diet (and got the wifey a bit on board!). I also seriously improved my sleeping habits... well as much as they can be consistent with two small kiddos (3.5 yrs. and 8mos). On the other hand, I only succeeded at about 50% of my workouts.... I tend to have an incredibly bright outlook on about everything, so I am fairly pleased with my first challenge. I didn't accomplish everything I wanted to, but like I said, I made good strides towards the life I want to live. Goal 1: You are what you eat! - (+2 STA +1 STR) During the first challenge, I committed to and succeeded in eating roughly 90% Paleo and I love it. I will continue this lifestyle with cheat days for special occasions only, but no more than 4 cheat days total. Goal 2: I believe I can fly (again)! - (+2 DEX +1 STR) In my younger days... up until about a year ago (lol), I have always been able to dunk a basketball (standard 10 foot rim). This is/was always a source of pride of sorts for me... being a white dude of average height who can dunk is pretty cool IMO! Anyway, I'm going to get my arse back into dunking shape. I don't have as much bball time these days, but that's no reason not to be flying through the air when I do get the chance to play! This will be accomplished by a mixture of running (distance and sprints), increased flexibility, and plyometrics (box jumps with variations) The proof is in the pudding: I will try to get a video uploaded of me attempting a dunk (2 handed) this upcoming weekend, and a final video on the last weekend of the challenge. Goal 3: Man, these throwing stars are heavy! - (+2 STR, +2 CON) Strength has always been my weak point (unintended pun ;-) ) in my athletic ability. More specifically in my build and how I would like to look. Summer is approaching and in my family that means pool time every weekend and an impending beach trip. I am well aware that appearance is simply a result of fitness, so I am going to attack this challenge as such. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday strength workouts, and I plan to increase by at least 10% each week All reps are per day, not week and will be accomplished in as few sets as possible Week 1: 100 pushups (50 standard, 25 wide, 25 plyometric), 6 minutes of planks (2 min standard, 2 min each side), 10 pullups (my real weakness... ) Week 2: 115 pushups (55 standard, 30 wide, 30 plyometric), 9 minutes of planks (3, 3, and 3), 12 pullups Week 3: 130 pushups (60 standard, 35 wide, 35 plyometric), 12 minutes of planks( 4, 4, 4), 16 pullups Week 4: 150 pushups (65 standard, 45 wide, 40 plyometric), 15 minutes of planks (5, 5, 5), 20 pullups Week 5: 175 pushups (75 standard, 55 wide, 45 plyometric), 18 minutes of planks (6, 6, 6), 24 pullups Week 6: 200 pushups (80 standard, 65 wide, 55 plyometric), 24 minutes of planks (8, 8, 8), 30 pullups Goal 4: On the road...(towards financial freedom)! - (+3 WIS + 2 CHA) It has always been a goal of mine to start my own business. For many reasons, which I will hopefully be able to get written during this challenge, I have always wanted to 'be my own boss' and add value to the world in my own way. I read at least 5 blogs, 2 magazines, and get countless email subscriptions to business and entrepreneurship related things. I am always tossing around ideas and plans around. Well now its time to get going! I will have to quantify this later, but action time is now. For now my goal is to make significant progress on building my business(es) and begin generating (or be closer to generating) income. Un-rewarded goals: - update this thread at least once a week (and more than just a sentence about how my week went!) - comment on at least two threads in the challenge forums per week - on my 'off' days (Tues, Thurs, Sat, Sun) I will be doing major flexibility exercises and meditation practice ( in addition to my running/plyo/dunking) - no Ps3 during the week(days), I've got more important things ( read Goal 4) to do in addition to my fatherly/husbandly duties! Until next time! Cheers! Stan PS: Someone do me a favor and remind the hell out of me to upload some pics and progress pics!

  10. Week 4 Recap: Diet: A... Staying about 90% paleo and as close to 0% processed as possible. Sleep: B.. Getting baby G in his bed is should be a level up of its own! Anyway, we're working on that so my habits aren't the best right now. Exercise: B.. Trying to stick with my every other day routine, and occasionally I've gone two days between workouts, but for the most part on task here. Still going strong.. .already beginning to think up my next challenge goals! Cheers
  11. So work has been crazy these last few weeks. Also with our anniversary on the 20th, we took the kids out of town for the weekend and had a fun filled blast! That being said, I am feeling much stronger and more energized. Week 3 recap: Diet: C+. I went according to plan until this weekend, we were out of town and on the road alot, so I had some fast food >_< and a bit of dairy and grains, but I'm getting back on the wagon asap (including dinner tonight!) Exercise: B+: I missed one workout, but have been going stronger and longer with my other ones, so maybe a break day was in order. Sleep: B+: Slept in one day, but apart from that, been going well. It definitely wasn't my worst week, and we had an awesome adventure with the kiddos, so the fudged diet and one missed workout was worth it! ;-)
  12. Week 2 went great.... work was crazy busy, hence the lack of posts. Ate about 99% Paleo... except for the two corn on the cobs I ate with my fish the other day (only decent side they had). Got all my workouts in and going strong! Sleep wasn't my friend this week, but that was a combo of 12 hour days and little man not feeling great. Cheers!
  13. Many cows are given hormones to produce more milk.... the rapid growth leads to mastitis.... to heal the infection they inject antibiotics....
  14. Well, it's been a great Week 1 to my first challenge. I knocked out 3/3 bodyweight workouts this week. [Main goal is to get back in the routine of working out 3+ times a week] I ate ~100% paleo... [minus the honey to sweeten my smoothies!] Only ate out once... mexican restaurant.... chips....salsa....... NO... I was good. No chips for me! I at a huge portion off fajitas (minus the tortilla!). I cooked for just about every meal... or at least pre-cooked I had a ton of sweet temptations... girl at work brought fresh baked cookies.... boss brought muffins..... wife ate cookies....AHHH. Did not break down once! [i have a huge sweet tooth... resisting is getting easier though!] I've been going to bed earlier and waking up earlier... hard to quantify since the baby wakes alot and such, but I'm on the right track! CUT THE CABLE! and dove back into Song of Ice and Fire Week 1 = success! Looking forward to week 2! Cheers!
