  1. x-posted from my own thread Day 10 through 17 - June 12 through June 19 Recap Coming into this challenge I knew the second week would be my hardest week. The anniversary of my father's death fell smack in the middle and I knew it could make or break me for the rest of the challenge. In short, though I hadn't been on the site at all, no matter how down I was feeling, I was able to stick to my goals and did not go crazy with food as had been the norm in the past. Instead I tried to do positive things to combat how I was feeling; visiting the gym, taking a walk, taking the kids to the park and going down the slide with them - anything to keep my mind and my body busy. Where normally I'd visit restaurant after restaurant at this time of year, I stayed home, made my food, and fought the urge to drown my sorrows in food I know I shouldn't be eating. I can't say things are back to normal just yet, but like each year, it does get a little easier if not better.

  3. Day 8 & 9 - June 10 & 11 - Recap Anyone have any experience dealing with insurance adjusters? It's been quite a ride trying to figure out what exactly will be covered and what isn't covered, how much should be covered, who's responsible for what. Oy. Life tip: Review any and all insurances you have, keep them up to date, and know exactly what is covered in times of emergency. Get clarification on what constitutes an emergency. You'll save yourself alot of unnecessary problems. Much like planning out meals for the week or a workout schedule - be prepared!! I'm happy where I'm at foodwise but know I could do a bit more in terms of being active. I've got all this insurance stuff going on, but I can't let it limit me when it comes time to getting on the treadmill or going to the gym. This negativity can not and will not affect me any longer.
  4. Ultimately you know your body best and how much you can push it. With all your running events coming up I can see why you want to keep up with your workouts. The whole hurts/doesn't hurt scenario would drive me nuts. Kudos on powering through!!
  5. I hope it does as well as I'm going to start a strength program too. Will you be going to a gym or working out at home?
  6. While I agree with project that being active if you can't run is better than nothing, if you let your injury linger, who's to say it will get better and not worse? You said going up and down stairs hurts real bad, that would be enough concern for me to get it checked out. You'd be better off being sidelined from running for a week or two than for a longer period of time. Remember, this is a marathon and not a sprint [running pun intended [i think] ]. It may bork up this 6 week challenge, but there's another and another to be done. Once you're back to 100%
  7. Sometime ya gotta take the little victories when and where you can. Getting sick can really have a snowball effect on your goals. Glad to see you didn't let it get you too down. Here's to a better week 2!!
  8. Looking forward to kicking week 2 in the butt!!

  9. Just checking in to see how your first week went..
  10. So how'd everyone's first week go?! Tropical Storm Andrea made an appearance in my basement so the weekend was spent cleaning up. I missed a few meals and kind of overdid it in subsequent ones, but on the positive, it was all low carb [meat!!] and good carb [veggies!!]. I did miss 2 HIIT sessions I had planned but made up for it by doing some bodyweight exercises - squats, lunges, push ups, crunches and situps. It's mostly all taken care of and cleaned, its just a matter of the adjuster coming by and taking a look. All in all, I think I did pretty good for the first week. There are a couple of areas I want to work on - meal variety, catching up on everyone's posts, posting my results in a timely fashion - but I think as the challenge goes on, it will become second nature in a way, and everything will fall into place.
  11. 1 week down, 5 more to go. The more of a routine it becomes, the easier it feels. Sometimes RL does get in the way, and ya just gotta roll with it. Don't let it get ya down!!
  12. Just checking in to see how your 1st week went.
  13. Monday June 10 Weigh In 1 starting weight: 255 lbs current weight: 250.4 weight loss last week: 4.6 lbs total weight lost: 4.6 lbs
  14. Day 5,6,7 - June 7, 8, 9 Recap Friday: Why hello Tropical Storm Andrea. You like my basement? Sure, come on in, while I'm not at home... UGH. Saturday & Sunday: Spent cleaning up the aftermath, which lead to me skipping some meals and eating a bit more in others, I also missed Friday & Saturday night's HIIT session but I made up for it by doing some nighttime bodyweight exercises even after 2 days of mopping and cleaning and scrubbing. The shining star in all of this this is that I'm down 4.6 pounds!! Never thought I'd say this, but I'm totally ready for the work week to begin...
