  1. You can't legislate portion control. Or, you can, but a judge with a common-sense-having bone in his/her body is going to un-legislate it for you with a quickness.

Right! I'm starting with hydration. That's got to be my #1 priority right now.
  3. Getting back on the epic mount!

  4. This morning I made a one dish saute of browned, diced chicken thighs with onion, garlic, rosemary, julienned sundried tomatoes, fresh parsley and salt and pepper, with some sugar snap peas thrown in at the end (anyone who is strict and doesn't eat sugar snaps or snow peas could use spinach). It was AMAAAZING.

Well...so far I have not achieved any of my "easy" goals! Not one! LOL! I have been doing squats and dumbbell rows with my husband, so I guess that's a step toward overall fitness, but so far the "yoga and hydration" plan is a total fail I can't seem to carve out any time for any of it. Gah.
  6. I am an AP mom of three and my oldest is 8. Although, with my first I didn't know I was "AP" at the time- I was just doing what made sense to me as a parent. Co-sleeping does not have to mean sleeping in the same bed. If your child is in bed next to yours, you're still a co-sleeping family. If the kids are in your bed, you're bedsharers. My main piece of advice is to only do what seems right to you and don't get sucked into any dogmatic blogs or what have you. Dr. Sears is a big AP guru and some (crazy) people try to conform to everything in his books, while strangely ignoring the parts where he says not to try to do it all and not to do anything that doesn't feel right to you or work for your family. So, we're bedsharing (with the baby), co-sleeping (with the toddler), extended breastfeeding, cloth diapering, babywearing, non-circumcising, non-spanking, etc. but I would never go against anything that I felt was right for us in the name of "AP". Did you have any questions or any particular advice you're looking for?
  7. Hi all! I'm new here and this is my first challenge! My personal goal for this challenge is to get my yoga practice back in my life. I used to do yoga quite a bit in my 20s and I had so much more flexibility and inner calm. I want to set a good example for my kids and get them into it, too! My daughter is 8 and we haven't done our yoga since she was 4! That...sucks. I need to get back on the ball! Literally! *rimshot* Fitness Goals: 1. Drink at least 13 cups of fluids per day (adequate intake for a breastfeeding mother). 2. Start a family yoga night once a week and do 15 minutes or more of yoga, by myself or with others, at least 3 times a week. 3. Do at least 30 minutes of my workout video a week. I know that seems low, but I have 3 kids- an 8 year old, a 2 year old and a 4 month old. So...yeah. Some days I'm lucky if I get a shower. Level Up Goal: Complete all of my posted chores on the family chore chart every week.
  8. Hi, y'all! Pansexual and married to a man here, poking my head in to say "Hi". Which I already said. Hi.
  9. Let's do this thing!

  10. IDK how often you go out there to visit, but my suggestion for next time is to establish some boundaries with her, and if you are able, stay in a hotel or with other friends/family. Boundary example: "MIL, I am sorry you feel stressed when my son gets upset. What I need from you is to stay out of the room if you overhear him getting upset." What would be even better would be to have your partner run interference and say this to her, since she's not your mother and the primary relationship is between the two of them.
  11. Hi, husband! I am so proud of you <3 I agree that you should spell out how you define "strict Paleo" for yourself since there are so many different ideas and guidelines out there. I guess the kids and I are "un-strict" with our dairy eating and using up the non-paleo condiments in the house
