  1. I'm trying to get into the habit of not turning on the computer and checking email & FB & such when I wake. When I leave it I feel a hell of a lot better. A few days in the past couple of weeks where I didn't plug in until I'd been up for a couple hours...wow, totally different day!
  2. Wow! Another new toy I got was a new jump rope, the Cable Freestyle Jump Rope from Buy Jumpropes.net . Hell yes! I am MUCH better than I knew! Picked this up on the suggestion of the awesomely cool & bad-ass Ross Enamait's awesomely cool & bad ass Jump Rope Conditioning for Athletes DVD. My coal is to get good enough to do serious cardio with the rope, as the weather here is nasty for running, as well as having a foot that doesn't love it. Both DVD & rope kick butt!
  3. 8/6/14 Strength Jump rope, DROM. Deadlift 100# 3x8 Deep Squats 3x8 Band Assist pull ups neutral grip (this rocks! Handles kick ass!) 2x7 Pike Diamond Push Up 3x8 Straight Leg Raise 3x8 Dips 3x8 Inv. Row fully flat 6/7/5 Plank 80 seconds Stretch - yes! Edited to add: Guitar, read, meditate, study.
  4. 8/7/14 Some correctives, meditation, a lot of guitar & reading. Got my new toy, a WOSS Military strap set up. I already have rings, but wanted to check out the WOSS gear, and will be using the handles for neutral grip pull ups. This is a fine piece of gear for $28! The handles were available for $10 by themselves, but I figured this gives me a travel-friendly option as it includes the door anchor. Nice PM yesterday, as the power went out for quite many hours. However, that turned off the AC and led to a shit nights sleep. We will see what the day (ahem, coffee) will bring!
  5. 8/6/14 (Half) Strength Warm up with long fast walk, rope, DROM. Deadlift 95# 2x5 This was fine. Deep Squats 2x5 Band Assist pull ups 1x4 this felt fine. Pike Push Up 2x8 Straight Leg Raise 2x5 Elbows in Push Up 2x5 Inv. Row, 9.5, feet on doorframe 3x5 7 second descents. Solid. Plank 60 seconds Dropped reps, sets, and difficulty to see how the back liked it. Seems, though still not perfect. No issues. Stretch - yes!
  6. "You can't take rejection personally. You just have to tell yourself the ignorant SOB just didn't know any better." Jimmy Dean
  7. 240 x 1 [PR] Nice! And damn the bastards who sell Hex plates to gyms, they are evil and should be destroyed.
  8. Small one, so no big deal, I think. Plus wight he BW workouts, all I have to do is not deadlift and that cleans most of the loading.
  9. 8/4/2014 Nice morning back spasm, so... Somatics & Meditation Also read, played guitar, and did more soma tics.
  10. RECAP WEEK 1 Strength x 3 -this is doing good things, I like Nick's template a lot. Correctives x 2 (I know this is wrong, but I haven't been logging them) Meditation x1 (well, it would be more but I am having to train the cat to not help, so only one that counts!) Guitar a few days, but not enough. Additional, not part of the challenge goodness: non-web reading! Both fiction, which is generally kindled, and NF which is usually not. Doing very well reading he NF first thing in the morning with coffee. This may not be great for comprehension, but it's re-building the habit! Reading the fiction more in breaks from the shop. I also had the best month in shop sales since I have started, which is awesome, and mostly custom work, which is MORE awesome. So for week 2 the goal is to get the non-strength elements more into play.
  11. 8/2/14 Strength This was yesterdays workout as I was blown out & useless all day. Warm up with long fast walk, rope, DROM. Deadlift 115# 3x8 Deep Squats 3x8 Band Assist pull ups 1x6 Pike Diamond Push Up 8/8/8 these are almost clean... Straight Leg Raise 3x8 Elbows in Push Ups 3/8 Inv. Row, 10.0, Straight leg on floor 6/6/5 Plank 60 seconds Stretch - yes! Meditate 10 minutes.
  12. Right!!! But that's only half of it! Because both of your guys are masters at working the sitch they are in from within when they choose to. Yes, they would both like to blow it up, and could. But is that the actual choice? Because if it was, they would just walk away. But they know they have a massive amount of tools at their disposal, and get to choose who and how to engage and with what outcome.
  13. Try this for the mental stuff. Ask yourself "What would Batbourne do in this situation? How would Batbourne choose to react? How would Batbourne respond to this self talk?". Shit will work. Trust me.
  14. I come from the barbell as well. I do a lot of KB work as well. I do find that the BW stuff is kinder to my joints that the BB, and there is a good long run of progression before I am decent at much of anything. But the iron will not be denied, even though I am weak as shit with it due to some hip & erector injuries. Getting there!
  15. You Wrote: I started reading Convict Conditioning, switching back and forth between that and The Ethical Slut. Working on changing my approach to strength training. This challenge I will definitely continue with weight lifting 2/week and experiment with bodyweight training. Next challenge I may make the switch to make BW primary and barbell secondary. I will never give up deadlifting. Have you checked out Nick Janivier's site? He is BW + Deadlifts. Makes good sense to me. Amused to see Paul's name on your quote!
  16. 7/31/14 Correctives from PFP, stretching, meditate, guitar, read and actual book for awhile (not in my challenge, but trying to do more of it).
  17. 7/30/14 Strength Warm up with long fast walk, rope, DROM. Deadlift 110# 3x8 Deep Squats 3x8 Band Assist pull ups 1x6 this felt fine. Pike Diamond Push Up 3x8 Straight Leg Raise 3x8 Dips 3x8 Inv. Row, 9.5, feet on doorframe 8/8/8 3 second descents. Solid. Plank 60 seconds Though everything could profess, I'll sit here until total ownership ensues. Feel good. Arms are already sore from the diamond pikes & SLOW negatives on the rows. Stretch - yes!
  18. 7/29/14 Correctives from the PFP. No meditate, no guitar.
  19. I don't have the attention span to keep my log in two places, so I'm keeping the challenge thread only, which is HERE: http://rebellion.nerdfitness.com/index.php?/topic/51113-vector-50-infecting-the-host-organism/
  20. 7/28/14 Strength Warm up with long fast walk, DROM. Deadlift Not today, some back irritation Deep Squats 3x8 Band Assist pull ups 1x5 this felt fine. Pike Diamond Push Up 6/5/5 these are odd, but I did them OK. Straight Leg Raise Not today, back irritation Elbows in Push Ups 3/8 These are much prettier. Rock solid plank, feet touching, elbows tight to the body. Inv. Row, 9.5, feet on doorframe 8/7/7 Much better, full 3 second descents. Solid. Plank 60 seconds Stretch - yes! Meditate 10 minutes.
  21. Looks awesome! The sledgehammer is a great tool! Actually, so is the tire. Tire throws & tire slams are serious fun. If you remember your gloves!
