  1. Ok, just because I did not understand the reference to the smashed cake I am going to post this here because, well, hilarity; that's why! And than you all for checking in and the support. I had been meaning to get on here some pre-challenge but got busy.
  2. As much as we would all love it to be, life is not a montage.....there is no fast forwarded, quick snip-it reel of you doin' some work to hype inducing Kenny Loggins music resulting in achieving 6 months worth of training in 6 and a half minutes!! Life is a grind....it is the day to day challenge to continue doin' what you must in order to achieve your goal....the constant fight of will power against those things which would stand in your way....and the knowledge that no matter what you have to keep pushing to matter how far you have come, or how far you have to go!! As any of you that have read my challenges before, I have continued to try to maintain my motivation by making it a challenge related goal. Well I have decided to make it my battle log instead. I will be posting pictures, sayings, videos and stories that motivate me. I will also occasionally add in life stories, rewards and stories about others that I find inspirational. There might also be the random things that make me laugh sometimes. I will try to makes these posts daily but I am not goin' to make it a requirement or a challenge goal. This way if I don't I will not start getting down on myself. Again these are for me, but if you are here I hope that they might help motivate you as well. Might as well start with my morning alarm:
  3. Ash, welcome to NF and your first challenge! Like you, I have always been hell out of the gate and not so great in the long haul.....being accountable to yourself here is a great way to keep you on track. But the best tool these forums offer is the chance to get motivated by others!! I recommend that you find an accountabillity group and join up or fine some others, both new and vetrens, with similar goals. When you start to feel like you are loosing motivation, remember we are all here for you to lean on!! I also recommend that you not check your progress...or at least make it an every 2 week goal, try to break that habbit that eventually leads to frustration. Lookin' forward to watching you rock this challenge!
  4. just watched ALL for the BroScienceLife videos in a row.....Brain has exploded!

  6. Holy Hell AP!!!! I start to follow, turn around and there are four frickin' pages to catch up on....lol!! Great goals, and I like the thought behind the rewards for yourself. I am amazed at the difference a "real" crockpot can make....I use to have one with just 2 settings; hi and low, then got my current one that is set by time; 4, 6, 8, 10 hour...and it made a huge difference in the variety of items to make (or at least made it easier...lese over and under cooked meals). This christmas I am hoping to get on that is variable detail temp and time set.....muhahahaha how about new yopa pants....their 'stretchy' right??
  7. Subbed! Max, as I have said in your past challenges, you are amazing and I am so proud of your accomplishments! I cannot wait to follow you through this challenge....and by the way, Avatar theme...ROCKIN'!!!! I love, love love Mai and Ty Lee: such under-rated characters. I may not comment much (your thread can grow way faster than I can keep up with some times) But I will keep up and watch you rock this challenge....I see a new tattoo in your future!
  8. Thank you to all the past and present service men and women who have stood that line to protect my freedoms. Your sacrifices, both small and large, will always be remembered, and you will always be in our hearts!

  9. Sam, why to pull back abit but still have great focused goals......and love the doo alls the fun stuff aspect!!! Can;t wait to see you punch through another challenge.
  10. hoping to catch up on the forums and friends sometime tonight....

  11. Subbed for overall epic zaniness!!
  12. Blaidd - I have thought about the whole30 for a future goal, but right now with everything going on and my tendency to rebel against huge change like that I don't think it's time to try it. I am currently looking into places around me to get better whole food....especially grass fed beef and better poultry. AverageJoe, I am working on a grading scale and will hopefully get it put up this weekend, along with refining the goals a little more. Well Apf, you no longer have plausible deniability and I am officialy pointing to you as an accomplice!! Plus that was the double secret goal you guessed....
  13. FOOD FIGHT!!!!! It’s simple, I need to change me approach to food, and this challenge will be the start of that change. Goal 1: Gluten Free Panda says "No flour for you!". Last challenge I made a huge improvement over bread, but found myself going to other sources, crackers, pasta, popcorn, etc. This challenge I will eliminate them all. I will be focusing on being gluten free and starting my shift toward a paleo diet. Goal 2: Minimize the Bad Food Don’t make the panda angry! I will also be working on lowering my dairy, fat, and rice intake. This will include "processed" foods. Again I am not going paleo just prepping so I will allow these in controlled amounts. I will also be removing the salt shaker from the table; salt can be used while cooking, just not after. *For this challenge, processed foods are any foods that I do not know what the ingredients are on the back label. Goal 3: Bye Bye Fast Food: Fast food has to go…..I do not eat it often but when I do, I binge. Now I realize that life will happen (40 hour work week, school, wife and 18 month old) I will probably need a quick meal, so if needed I will not be the one to go get it (this way I can’t binge and hide it all on the way home). I will also be planning meals for the week and prepping and cooking on Sundays. With food in the fridge at the ready the need for a fast food run will be minimized. *I will attempt one new recipe a week focusing on paleo meals Secret Goal: ???? Shhh…it’s a secret I got nothing flash, nothing fancy…just fighting my food demons!
  14. I will stay stuck at home crying in the corner cause I'm missing all this kitchen fun...... :*-(
  15. St Louis has a bunch of outstanding food trucks.....during the summer they all gather at a secert place and release the location that day on Twitter for a food truck extravaganza!!!!
  16. I hate to say it, but I am an expert here.... I have been in and out of "higher education" for the last decade and a half......have more credit hours than most PhD candidates...and have been thrown out of more colleges than most people attend in their lifetimes....... and am just now looking to graduate next summer... The happiest people are the ones that do what they love, and then figure out how to make a living doing it. A job does not define the individual any more; the job supports and pays for what makes you an individual!
