  1. i got in 6 miles last week. We have to move so my walking will mostly be from me walking around the house cleaning and packing for a bit. I hate moving! I'm on a kindle and it won't let me use the spreadsheet. Booo!
  2. lol I guess I lied. My brother in law is Wiccan so I guess I've met 2 .... and if catching my kids jump bed to bed counts, then yes I've also seen flying monkeys.
  3. Too funny! 85 is a piece of cake compared to the over 2 months straight triple digit days we had last summer. I rarely went out. I hate the heat. Hopefully this summer wont be so bad. You will need a court order along with a taser, snakes, and hungry alligators to get me out. I'll be doing water aerobics in my bathtub.
  4. oh, forgot to say I'm from Kansas. A midwest girl. No, I have never had a dog named Toto, I don't have ruby slippers (although I'd totally rock em!), I have never seen witches or flying monkeys just covering the questions I get asked a lot.
  5. ok, so I just looked like a total crybaby whining about 40-50°.
  6. Spring is teasing us! Friday was 80°, but since it has been in 40-50s. Today it looked like it might rain around 40° but started snowing. Crazy! I'm ready for nice weather. Not too hot not too cold. unfortunately it seems to almost go summer to winter then back to summer. Spring and Fall (my favorite) are far too short! Oh well, suck it up right?
  7. Yay! I'm short, but no furry feet. I did go read the link provided in op, so I do know there will be a lot of walking. I think it'll be fun and give me a chance to get know some people. Looking forward to it!
  8. can I join? I honestly don't know what a hobbit or mordor is (don't shoot!), but I think this would help me be accountable and have a goal.
  9. Thanks for the input! I do think I was expecting too much of myself to begin with. Bodyweight on M,W,F, walking 30-40 min almost every day, yoga most days, plus all my normal housework. Going from zero besides housework to all that I think made my body freak. I will for sure be adding in bodyweight for a 3rd day as soon as possible. I know I need to improve on sleep. I don't sleep well at all. My 2 yr old thinks she's a newborn and keeps me up a LOT.
  10. Thanks, Pretzle! I took a few days off only doing yoga and I'm feeling better today. I just got back from walking the kids to the store 2 blocks away and my legs didn't bother me. Maybe it was just my body's way of saying slow down a bit. edit to add: last time i did the beginner body weight routine, my legs didn't want to make through the first set. It was getting harder to do and I didn't think that was right. I think I'll try it 2 days week for next couple weeks to give my body a chance to keep up.
  11. My issue isn't so much the soreness now, it's fatigue. We have a park a block away and walking my kids there made my legs tired. Even at a slower pace so little legs could keep up. Normal when first starting too?
  12. so far so good. 21 pounds down. I'm still keeping mostly on track. I did slip up and drink a soda when we were at my mom's for dinner. I immediately regretted it, it made me feel so sick! After over a month of going without, it wasnt what I was dreaming about. I'm kind of glad I did it and had that reaction though so now I won't waste so much time wishing for one. I was a MAJOR soda drinker. Exercise is ok. I've found just walking is making my legs so tired so quick. Not sure why, but hopefully will resolve soon.
  13. yum! thanks! those would be good for breakfast I think.
  14. thanks for the welcome katinka, thanks for the encouragement! good to know it goes away. polargirl, I hope this helped you too!
  15. Thanks! I've read so much stuff but I dont always retain everything very well. I appreciate your help!
  16. Thanks! I tried yoga for the first time Saturday and found I LOVE it. I did it Sunday and Monday too. I just thought it was strange that I did get tired quick and felt the burn while doing the exercises, but not sore like I thought I'd be. I didn't expect that after only my 3rd time to be able to climb stairs without saying "ow" with each step lol.
  17. Glad I'm not alone! Yes, I've been following primal/paleo 2 weeks now. My carbs are under 50 a day. I stopped drinking soda, sweet tea, and added sugars a little over a month ago. I rarely drank water before that. Now I drink green tea or coffee one in a while, but mostly water water water. I am limiting my fruit, only half a piece a day but not every day. I cut back on salt too. Should I up the salt a little? I can't keep bananas in my house. the kids eat them fast as I restock.
  18. I've been doing beginner bodyweight routine the last week. I did it Friday and was really sore all weekend, barely making it through 3 sets. I did it again yesterday and noticed my muscles tired quickly, but not near as sore. I can actually climb stairs pretty easily. I worked up a good sweat and pushed myself. It was still hard to get through, so I thought I would be really sore again. Is this progress or did I maybe not work as hard as I thought? As you can tell, I'm clueless. This is all so new to me.
  19. Great job! I've lost 10lbs in 2 weeks. I cut out soda and sugar a little over 2 weeks before starting paleo and lost 10lbs in that time. I found out about paleo 2 weeks ago and decided to jump right in right then and there. I'm still learning. im not as hungry so hard to eat all my veggies. How do you do your green smoothies?
  20. I've noticed especially in the last few days that I am sooo thirsty. My mouth and throat feel so dry. I've been drinking about 3liters of water a day. Any suggestions?
  21. i just read through this whole thing and gotta say you're an inspiration! Look at you go! And how awesome to share your struggles and knowledge. Weight loss is a tough struggle. We ALL hit a wall, but feel alone and and hopeless. I love reading things like your post because it's going to help so much when I do come to a halt. I have 85 of 100 pounds left to lose. I'm just starting exercising. I am the type that can't research too much or i get overwhelmed and just do nothing. I found NF and am looking nowhere else for fitness until I am stronger and do need something new. The beginner body weight routine kicks my butt! I was only able to go 2 rounds, but now 3 if I lower the reps on the last set. On off days I'm walking, dancing with the kids on the wii. I'd like to try hiit, only modified. I can't run yet so maybe walking and jogging for a bit. i cant jog long yet either. But, I'm getting somewhere. Thanks for sharing!
  22. I guess I misunderstood your post. You said you already like to make most things I put. I initially read it as how you used to use it. oops. Try salisbury steak with mushrooms stuffed peppers.. I made some last week that were very good. meatloaf with mashed cauliflower Good luck! I'm trying to do new things too to get out of a rut. Love me some variety.
  23. We just had burgers last night and i used two lettuce leaves as my "bun". It tasted great! I did put mustard on mine, I'm not sure if that is paleo or primal since I'm still learning. But if you like onion you an chop onion and mix with the ground meat to keep it a little moist. You can still make meatballs. My mom cans homemade tomato sauce. For my meatballs I use 1 lb ground meat, 2-3Tblsp tomato sauce, garlic powder, onion powder (or i finely dice onion), salt, pepper, parsley, and 1 egg. All spices to taste. Serve with zucchini noodles or spagetti squash with sauce for spagetti and meatballs. I've made bierocks without the bread. Just brown the meat with s&p, chopped onion, garlic powder. when almost one, add shredded cabbage and cook until the cabbage is cooked. I've also thrown in a bit of shredded carrot. chili- brown the meat, season with chili powder, garlic, onion, even a little cumin if you like. Add a little tomato sauce and water to make it soupy. you could throw in some chopped peppers. if do dairy top with a little sour cream, a sprinkle of cheese, and some chopped green onion. Just a few ideas. I don't want to make a huge post
  24. oh, I didn't realize i said pull ups. sorry, I meant pushups. I've NEVER done a pull up and haven't tried since I was a teen. I will do at least one pullup in my life though.
  25. Thank you! I did read to wait 48-72 hours between the bodyweight exercises, but for an absolute beginner which is better? I only ask because when I first cut the sugar I tried to do pullups and pulled something in lower abdomen and was down a couple days and very sore for a week. I know now I should've warmed up first, but is it better to give the muscles a little more rest time the first week or 2 or just go the every other day thing?
