  1. Ok, I've found tons of youtube videos to help with makeup, although I'm not sure how well it will all hold once I'm sweating. I have acne and very oily skin, plus I am super active - riding horses and trying to look professional at the same time while you're outside working hard, sweating, etc is a tough combination haha! I've dug up some of the threads on here and they have been helpful as well! I will get this all down eventually, and I will look my best
  2. So I've sort of slowly realized that I don't do a very good job at coming across well with how I look. I suck at doing my hair, makeup, picking out clothes... all of that. I need help figuring out what shape clothes look good on my body, what color makeup suits me, what haircut looks good on me, etc! Are there any good websites or anything that can help me learn this sort of stuff?
  3. Well, I've been crazy busy so I haven't been checking in here, but everything is on track so far! I have 3, yes, 3 injuries I am nursing so I am working out the best I can. As always, I have no time to post, but wanted to make myself at least write a quick note here.
  4. I guess I could have mentioned I'm in Cincinnati... If anyone ever wants to meet up, let me know. I need to meet some new people who actually care about being healthy!
  5. Ok, I haven't had time to post much lately. But Week One was pretty successful! I am doing great on all my goals, except I am not able to work out as much as planned because my old knee injury is bothering me... again. Ugh. But, overall I'm pleased with myself lol, and I will keep pushing!
  6. Day Two I knew I shouldn't have jogged two miles yesterday... my stupid knees are bothering me today, esp the right one. I should have kept it shorter and easier yesterday, but I wanna push myself! Phooey! Now I'm debating whether or not I should do the Jillian Michaels workout video tonight or not, I don't want to hurt my knees worse by doing too much, but it's been over two years since they were injured and I can't be easy on them forever and ever, they need to toughen up and quit being wimps!
  7. Love hearing stories of successes, and I like the simple yet important goals.
  8. Sounds like you have leads and options here, that's encouraging! Keep us updated!
  9. Maybe you can find some other dog-smart people who understand the challenges you are working with, and who wouldn't be judgmental. You could set up a "mock" out in public trip a few times with them, so you can work on her reactions but not in a place with strangers?
  10. That's interesting, it does sound like a withdrawal doesn't it. Good for you for recognizing it and changing habits!
  11. I want to know what biccies are, too! Also, I so love that you are already looking forwards to getting up tomorrow! I could launch into a deep lecture about happiness lol, but I'll just leave it at that!
  12. I love it. I really like that you just run for 25 minutes and don't worry about anything else... that's sort of what I'm doing in a way, too. Keep it up!
  13. Week One, Day One So I started two days late, oops! So today was my first day of this challenge. Overall I kicked ass today... Fitness: I went running (2 miles averaged to around 13 minutes each). I threw some attempts at parkour type stuff in their since part of my jog was in a field with a playground and benches and random tree stumps, etc, and it was so fun! I started on pavement, but had my older, less cushy running shoes on and my knees were killing me within a couple minutes (I tore ligaments in both knees about 2 years ago, and they have never been the same since), so I found the field and running on the grass didn't bother them at all. Yay! Food: I ate three good meals (a bacon egg quiche for breakfast, a salad for lunch, and steamed veggies for dinner). I drank tea and water. However, I did have an orange scone PLUS ice cream today. It's "healthy" ice cream, but still. I need to watch the sugar, that's where I get myself into trouble! Other Stuff: I went to GED class tonight. I was homeschooled, but never got my GED or anything. I'm 30 now and I've made my own business and have managed to get through life just fine thus far without it, but I want to get it just to prove to myself that I can do it! Everything is a piece of cake for me except math - I still have a lot to work on until I can pass the math portion of the test. But tonight was good, some stuff clicked and I finally feel like I'm making some headway. Also, I called and am in the process of scheduling horseback riding lessons at the two farms I want to ride at, one dressage barn and one jumping barn. I should have lessons scheduled soon, and even though my written down goal is to take one lesson per week, my secret real goal is to take one lesson of each type every week! Shhh... However, that is going to be about $110-ish per week, and I'm not entirely sure how I'm gonna come up with that consistently. But riding is my main passion in life, and if I'm going to meet my big long term goals I need to be back in lessons, like now! Once I'm done on here, I'm going to read for 30 minutes and then get to sleep. Overall, it's been a good day! Zanthia, dressage truly is for every horse. Riding a balanced, sensitive horse is just so much more fun than riding one that's not, even on trails. I've been teaching a few western dressage lessons lately and that has been a blast! I'm also a firm believer in cross training for horses - my dressage horse goes out on trails, too! My reading goal at nights is probably usually going to be met with old classical dressage theory, like Steinbrecht's Gymnasium of the Horse. Hooray for being a horse nerd!
  14. I love the way you're doing the cleaning.. I think I will try to work that into my next challenge! I'll be checking back often to see how it goes!
  15. Yay! I'm a horse person as well (I teach and train part time, do some farrier work on the side after 9 years of killing my body lol, and own a small stable), and it cracked me up to read your paragraph from your first challenge about how we horse people spend a minor fortune on the best feed for our horses and then hit the Taco Bell drive thru! I'm so guilty of this! I saw that Zorro had an injury, sounds like it was severe since he's had two years off, what happened? I have 4 horses, but my "main" horse will have had about two years off when it's all said and done, mainly due to a pulled suspensory ligament. Anyway, enough about horsies, I love your challenges, let's do it!
  16. Ok, so I sorta missed it by two days... but I figure it's better to start two days late than it is to wait for 6 weeks to "officially" start on these goals! I am super busy and overwhelmed with life in general right now as it is, and I tend to make huge goals that I can't stick to, so I am going to keep it pretty simple. I'm just simply doing it. I suppose an unofficial goal is to simplify everything! Fitness: - Run 1 day per week at the track at my local park. It's a little over 1.25 miles long, and I am not worried about time or anything. When I'm there I have no problem pushing myself, getting there is the hard part. I used to run/workout more but overdid it, and old injuries flared up so I am starting back easy with everything. - Do the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred video 3 days per week (level one or two, whichever I feel like). This will get me doing a little of everything... pushups, planks, etc, and then next challenge I will know where I'm at a bit better and I can get more specific. Nutrition: - Make one meal a day paleo. It's new to me, so I'm starting with that. - Try to eat less carbs, grains, and sugar, and eat more veggies and unprocessed stuff for the other two meals/snacks. I've already been doing this lately, I'll just keep on keeping on with it. I'm not silly enough to tell myself no sugar or coffee or oatmeal just yet, I'll work up to it! Other stuff: - Follow my horse hoof trimming schedule (trim one of mine every Monday, plus the foundered pony each Monday - I know this makes no sense to most people lol, but that's ok) - Go to at least two GED classes per week (I hate math. HATE.) - Make a weekly to-do list every Sunday and get it done! - Take a weekly riding lesson (which means I have to save every extra penny possible!) - Read something educational or self help in place of watching TV at night!
  17. Yeah, unless there is actually legal action against the place you bought it from your best bet is just to try to sell it. Hopefully you can sell it for whatever your payoff is. The longer you can hang in there, the lower you can price it (obviously haha)... you probably know this, but you can only sell it for less than you owe if you have the cash available to pay off the loan so that the lein holder will release the title and the new owner can get it in their name. I'm not sure, but you may be able to put the balance on a credit card if you sell it for less than you owe. 5k on a credit card sucks a lot, but it sucks waaaay less than a 19k car you can't afford the payments on. Or maybe you know someone you could borrow cash from? Chalk it up to a learning experience and move onwards and upwards!
  18. What is the car worth vs. what do you owe? Couldn't you just sell it and move on? Even if you had to take a small loss, it may be worth it. Didn't they tell you what your final payment was going to be each month when you signed the paperwork???
  19. I agree... Add something crunchy and I'd also add some ground cumin.
  20. I bought them and then realized I've never cooked them before. Any simple ideas for them? Thanks!
  21. Just curious I suppose. I love driving but seldom have money to stay involved with any car sports regularly... I've drifted one season of events and done some autocross events and one rallycross, but then I got too broke to continue Now I have a 240 shell sitting in my parking lot that needs a motor, and I'm trying really, really hard to make more money so I can drift again this year! I really miss it! The goal is to eventually make enough to have a gas mileage daily, track car of some sort, and a WRX for driving when I don't want to drive the boring daily. And then eventually something more awesome like a Lotus or something lol
  22. Yay fellow horse people! I have a few horses, but main mare is a pinto Oldenburg I do dressage with. I've also done h/j and some western, and I really want to start eventing this year!
  23. Oh, and go to therapy and ice the hell out of your ankle and don't do what I did with my knees and start doing too much too soon! Two years later my knees are still f'd up and they will never be the same, because I was stubborn! I have lots if experience with soft tissue injuries... it's all about the right amount of rest as well as controlled exercise.
