  1. Happy Pi Day! I may have to make pizza for dinner tonight...
  2. It is the head of him out of granny squares. I'm still working on putting his body and keyblade together. All 922 granny squares are made and just waiting patiently to join the others. You're crochet and knitting are lovely!
  3. Thanks Rhyme! The dragons are fun to make. I'm starting to experiment with tatting up other geeky things as well - we shall see how my foray into pattern design goes.
  4. Tatting (lace making) is my newest hobby! I absolutely love to shuttle tat! I also really enjoy crochet! I'm currently working on finishing the Roxas blanket (bottom right) for my hubby. I enjoying designing and painting wooden ornaments (and plan on learning to use the saw from my Mom this year so that I can cut them out too). [pics on my blog] I love costuming! Current completed costumes: Sith Twi'lek, Orange Knight (Castle Crashers), Fire Bender (Avatar) Current Project: Tauntaun I have a lot of fun walking a local 12k each year in costume! Gardening - I am super excited to have a place to garden this year! Filk and music - I love the Filk genre. I sing a lot. I can play the clarinet and guitar. I am currently learning the violin and bamboo flute. I love trying new instruments. I hope to one day be able to play the digeridoo better. Writing - I am working on a Fantasy novel currently. I've learned the basics of chainmail. I used to instruct archery (I need to find a place to shoot archery again). I will try just about any type of craft people are willing to teach me.
  5. We are still unpacking boxes and organizing things in our new house. The basement will need a complete remodel/finishing before a lot of our decorations go up. Things that are already out on display: Kitchen is probably the least geeky place in the house - it boast French paintings and some quotes for artwork, red small appliances, Star Wars mugs, Star Wars ice cube trays, and an assorment of geeky cookie cutters (SW, Pac-Man,...). The dining room has our wedding photos on display - including a collage of all of our lightsaber wedding pictures (we had a lightsaber fight during our wedding reception and the "Groom's Cake" was a giant cookie frosted with a picture of my husband in his Jedi garb and myself in my Sith Twi'lek garb). The in wall shelf displays a wide variety of cookbooks, a cast iron tea set, and 4 Mario mushrooms (two telling us to get a life and two telling us to grow up). It also has a map of Fuhaj, a land out of my husband's brain that a fantastic artist friend did a watercolor painting of. The livingroom has one of my favorite pieces in the house. My husband modified our coffee table and turned it into a display case to hold our LEGO Millennium Falcon. Art from family and friends graces our walls. Some of the paintings are of Australian landscape painted by various members of my husband's family. We have two crossstitch pieces framed that were done by my In-Laws. On the mantel is a pair of decorative Japanese swords with cranes on the sheath. Maquettes of Han Solo and Leia with R2D2 sit to one side of the swords and saber wielding LEGO Luke to the other. Above and framing the mantel hang several pieces of art: my husband done up in watercolor as a Steampunk Ghostbuster (a piece I commissioned our friend to do as a surprise for our 5th wedding anniversary), the Star Trek RP crew from one of our games (I'm the Andorian - also done by the friend just mentioned), my Amber RP character (a dragon winged humanoid with a pet Savannah cat - done by another friend), a picture drawn by my husband of the RP characters we played in an online Jedi Outcast RP when we first met, Sora from Kingdom Hearts (drawn by my husband's little sister), a picture of one of my husband's Amber characters holding a rock (done by the same friend that did the other Amber RP character), and an oil painted Sand Person done by a friend I have in the Netherlands. The masterbedroom has an Asian flare. There is a giant wooden fan hanging above the headboard with beautiful landscape and cranes painted on it. We have pictures of Japan hanging on the wall as well as a Samurai my husband's little sister painted. Still to do: Mainfloor: Office - we have plans for three walls of Tetris shaped book shelves that we will be building ourselves. I have also bought some Star Wars fabric to make curtains for the two windows. The giant window seat we are creating will be full of pillows made with geeky fabrics and crocheted Amigurumi (Star Wars, Castle Crashers, Minecraft, and Fable Heroes characters are currently planned). Living Room - We have plans for a Companion Cube storage ottoman and a Weighted Storage Cube ottoman. Basement: Theatre Room - eventual plans include tiered seating and projector movie viewing. Concession stand to feature air popped popcorn. Movie posters lit with lightsaber lights. The back wall will feature an eight foot long Legend of Zelda world map. Hallway - will feature fictional weapons: Master Sword and Shield, a sword for Assassin's Creed, a Nerf Lancer (that my hubby is making), a dead fish (from Castle Crashers), a giant meat tenderizer (also from Castle Crashers), several lightsabers, and many more wonderfully geeky items. Craftroom - Minecraft crafting table, furnace, and double treasure chest to function as storage and work space for my craft/sewing room [The garage will probably get a set as well]. We have lots of geeky posters and artwork that will be hung downstairs once it is complete. Basically, our entire house embraces geek and we would not have it any other way. *pictures to come at a later time*
  6. I'm up for this challenge. We bought a house last fall and I now have a yard I can garden in! I have big plans for my garden (including expanding it a bit each year). Seedling planting this weekend. So excited!
  7. Hi everyone! I'm Natalie or Nata. I've struggled with weightloss for about as long as I can remember - as most efforts die out when they cease to be fun and I end up putting the weight back on. So my plan is changing. I like the idea of tracking my progress as an RP character - so that's what I'm going to do. I will be giving my character the freedom to multi-class at any time and in any number of classes. This will help keep my adventure fun. I hail from the eastern side of Washington state. I'm happily married and have a daring cat, Kaylee (she likes shiny things), who would have you believe she is a dog (plays fetch, goes on leashed walks, greets you at the door...) Hobbies: tatting [the lace kind not the ink kind], crochet, costuming, writing, reading, singing, gaming, learning new skills, gardening, etc... Activities: flagging, dancing, hiking, biking, trying something new Fandoms: Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, A Song of Ice and Fire, Avatar, Harry Potter, Firefly, Castle Crashers, Zelda, Munchkin, pretty much anything Sci Fi/Fantasy ... My RP character {I'll work up a traditional character sheet later}: Name: Nata the Bardic Dragon Tracker Gender: Female Age: 28 Height: 5'9" Weight: 291.5 lbs Race: Half-Elf, Quarter-Dwarf, Quarter-Ifrit Favored Class: Bard Other Classes: Ranger, Druid I am a Half-Elf, Quarter-Dwarf, Quarter-Ifrit (nationality wise I am a mutt - so I figured race wise, my character should be too). I have some of the elvish height, the big boned build of the dwarf, and the pyro-tendancies of an Ifrit. My favored class is Bard: I love all things musical. I play several instruments, sing, tell stories, and enjoy a multitude of craft skills. I know enough in a lot of different things to get me into trouble, but not enough to claim master level in many things. I have been working on leveling in the Ranger class. Each year I do a local 12k and three of the four previous years I have walked half-marathons. I have an elliptical that I try to clock a few miles on daily. I have also been working on leveling in Druid, mostly in the knowledge nature realm. I am currently planning out my garden (just moved into a house with a yard for it). I also want to get back into a yoga and meditation routine. I also continue my Bardic training in dance (Dance Central, Zumba,...) and flagging (dance routines or free dance involving my fire shaped flags). As well as my crafting hobbies (tatting [lace not tattoos], crochet,...) and musical hobbies (guitar, violin, and voice). Physically, I am a Bard that has found a prosperous location and settled. Growing fat as she practices her trade. I currently carry the extra weight of a dwarf on me. As such, I am working on leveling up my exercise routine and cleaning up my diet. I am currently on the hunt for dragons and the tracks I am following lead me to believe that I will have another 10 miles to go before I reach one. [i've set up a reward system where I get to tat one lace dragon for every 25 miles I walk/jog/run for a costume I am working on]. I look forward to meeting many of you in my adventures!
