  1. I've seen that too. I can't think its purpose unless you want a private tracking post?
  2. That's such important self-care and hard to make yourself take that time when you're busy.
  3. ...for an update, naturally. I ate alllllll the vegetables today. All of them. I made minestrone for lunch, so that's a double dose of beans, tomatoes, zucchini (courgette), spinach, and even the pasta had broccoli and kale in it! For extra measure, I ate carrots with dinner (not even counting the marinara) and had roasted red peppers with my evening snack. Sugar got minority fudged at an annoying 16g vs 15g, but I'm not too torn up about it. 15g was a sort of random number meant to not have to sweat the sugar in ketchup or whatever, but not really enough to have dessert every day. I didn't have any sweets today, but I had 4 small dinner rolls over the course of the day at 4g of sugar each, so there you have it. No swimming or GMB today, but I did take a nice afternoon walk. I have a swim planned for tomorrow. Weekly painting for the Botanica Collective done:
  4. I won't argue with you. I have been eyeing this t-shirt for a while now
  5. +10 points for excellent themed reference
  6. Yes, iirc you were planning to introduce the film to your son. Did you? Mandy Patinkin seems like such a lovely person. I would love to meet him. Kept sugar down today, doubled down on veggies at dinner and...read a book all day lol. Dodged a bullet with a freeze threat this week when so many of my plants decided a month ago that it was spring. Not only do I not appear to have any frost damage, but my roses are blooming!!!
  7. Ah, you're right. I was confusing that with Ford's invention on the assembly line, which made the car cheap and readily available to the common man. Sounds good to me!
  8. Ah! I was wondering how the term evolved separately when Americans invented the car, but hadn't dived into it yet. Words are fun. Haha! Between being a linguist by preference and a teacher by trade, and just can't help but Oh, that's a fun one!
  9. I had that happen to me before. It was literally false advertising, the ad claimed they wanted a dog trainer, but they really wanted a manager. Both I and the interviewer were mutually dissatisfied with each other and eagerly parted ways. I don't know why they hide the leadership aspect like that.
  10. Thanks 😊 I hope you know that you have opened Pandora's Box with this question, because I am a serious linguistic nerd who will dive into etymology in a heart beat! The first documented instance of an elephant's proboscis being referred to as a "troonke" was 1589. The term was used to describe a hollow tube, such as an ear trumpet or blow gun. The car's trunk evolved from the Latin "truncus" meaning the main stem of a tree or the human body. Storage trunks (or chests) were presumably named so after the trees from which they were made. In the late 1920's, cars were advertised as having trunk racks in the back, but they eventually evolved into having a built-in trunk of its own.
  11. 😂 That looks like a fun workout! I am curious to try it some time
  12. Good to see you! My brain was full of nope today for no real reason I can discern. Somehow 8 hours of sleep was insufficient and I have been sleepy all day. I did eat veggies (lettuce, roasted red peppers, and sweet potato) and have so far dodged the sugar dragons. I also got in the first of 7 GMB Elements workouts this afternoon. So, take that Nope Brain.
  13. It's the trunk and hood for us. I was today years old when it clicked that hood = bonnet, in that it's an article of clothing for the head. Bonnet seemed so strange to me, but now I'm thinking it's not that far from what we say.
  14. It's supposed to mean to visit? Like knock on the door.... In a Scottish accent, I could see your point, but they were referring to the part of the car we call the trunk in the US. And the engine area is the bonnet. 🤷‍♀️
  15. I struggle how to count tomatoes or beans for my veggie goal, too. I guess I need more specificity.
  16. Thanks! Ah, adventures in international English. My dad has tons of stories on his misadventures in speaking American English in Scotland. My favorites include him being invited to "knock up" a girl he had met at the bar or the local law enforcement requesting to check his "boot" for an escaped convict (while he was wearing boots).
  17. I think it's the "dead eyes" look that all costume heads have.
  18. Thank you 😊 Thanks 😊 Ooh, I'm always down for a good soup recipe! I found a version with kale, too, which would be a nice way to give spinach a break.
  19. Also, this wasn't strictly play (or unpostable), but I did enjoy making it:
  20. Roasted kale or seaweed is actually pretty good. Spinach, probably not. That sounds good! Ooh, I made ratatouille once, but I think I overcooked it. The crumble sounds most similar to what we would call a "crisp", like cherry crisp or peach crisp, that is, a warm filling with a crumbly, crispy topping.
  21. Me too. I weighed 107 lbs in college and still had no visible abs 😐 I feel this. I sat down recently to write out my reasons and I couldn't not put looks. Anti-fragility and physical independence are in there, but appearance is still a significant part.
