  1. Having a total stinker of a morning after getting kicked by numerous people who didn't already know I was down. Really wish I'd just stayed in bed today!
  2. Not liking the vomiting bug but totally loving the PB laps! And YAAAAAY! Have you popped your numbers in for the NF Virtual Comp that's running at the moment?
  3. I meant more that squat tends to go up a lot more than deadlift in the SHW classes.
  4. So I've done my usual challenge thing of completely forgetting my actual challenge and just rambling along. Choose Lifting I'm back to it tonight and will try not to leave myself in the situation where I have to skip accessories because I've run out of time. Choose meat and veg and eggs I'm back on the sensible eating after two days of If It Fits Your Mouth. Today's eating kinda looks like this: Breakfast - Coffee with hazelnut milk, oat bar, Grenade bar (will get back to the omelettes soon) Lunch - Tikka chicken bites, ready-cooked rice pack, probably some veg Pre-workout - Tall soy caramel latte Dinner - Slow-cooked shin of beef with stir fried mushrooms, tofu and vegetables and basmati rice Choose Life I had fine intentions of going to the movies last night but was so knackered that we wound up eating nachos and watching RuPaul's Drag Race on the couch. I don't regret it! Got a few things planned for this week: I'm going to a Pilates class over lunchtime today I've got a yin yoga class booked for Thursday evening I'm meeting up with a fellow lifter on Saturday to lift and have fun I've got a reformer Pilates taster class on Saturday (after social lifting stuff) I'm back to my skating lessons on Sunday morning I'm going to a friend's ice hockey match on Sunday evening (my first ever) I think that's a good list.
  5. Just wish I'd actually got that Best Lifter! I'm alright with it but I know it was there. I'm doing my best to just focus on being as awesome as I can even if I'm never going to be Best Lifter or the poster girl. Felt really, really tired yesterday and was still off the reservation on my diet but I'm back on it today with a vengeance.
  6. You can tweak paleo to make it work for most goals but carbs are your friend to build muscle (and to build muscle you generally need to gain weight). The general goal of paleo to eat more vegetables and less junk is great but there's a lot of hooey in there (as far as I'm concerned). What did the doctor say was the issue with your face?
  7. Have you ruled out other factors which could be causing the red face? It might be worth speaking to a doctor. I know diagnosis by diet is very popular online but it isn't always wise. If you're trying to build muscle, why are you avoiding carbs?
  8. Is there something in particular that is suggesting you should go paleo? It's probably going to be pretty cost-prohibitive to do plant-based paleo and hit your protein targets. Why the aversion to meat if you're going to a generally meat and vegetable based diet?
  9. Getting close to breaking the top five!
  10. Bench is definitely coming on if you're hitting 5kg off your all time best at 15kg lighter!
  11. I think so. I also realised that a lot of my issues boil down to jealousy that people around me get seemingly unending and unsolicited praise whilst I'm always a bridesmaid and never a bride (metaphorically speaking). Previously having a coach who just didn't give a shit didn't help my spiral but realising that's an issue might help. New coach was in there with praise, support and encouragement within minutes, though, despite having competed himself yesterday.
  12. Welcome to the Warriors! Looks like you've got a great set of goals!
  13. Additional random PB: my waist measured 66cm/26" this morning. The smallest it's been since childhood.
  14. The moment I realised I was going to lock out the 142.5kg deadlift:
  15. Lifts are in: BW: 62.4kg Squat: 115/120/125 Bench: 75x/75/80 (bum up on first 75kg because I'm an idiot) Deadlift: 130/137.5/142.5 (PB)
  16. Okay, so I guess I'd better do a wee write-up of today. Got to the comp venue at about 8:45 with weigh-in starting at 9 so popped to the loo and wound up weighing in at 62.4kg. I have to confess that I was bricking it but, for once, not so much about squats. I knew I was opening super-light (for me) so my opener at 115kg could have been done paused, in my sleep, with a broken ankle etc etc. I had a slight miscommunication with my handler so my second attempt was 120kg rather than 122.5kg, but given that my hip started feeling sore and tight after 120kg, I think it could have been slightly serendipitous. Went for a very conservative third attempt at 125kg because of the pain in my hip flexor and absolutely nailed it. Warmed up for bench way too early and completely funked my opener at 75kg because I didn't get my arse down so I repeated that on my second attempt rather than going straight to 80kg so my third attempt at 80kg, whilst a comp PB, was ridiculously easy. Deadlifts had no plan so opened at 130kg (first time I've opened that far over my final squat... ever) then pulled an easy 137.5kg on my second. I'd attempted 142.5kg in my last few comps so put it on not entirely expecting it to be any different but it absolutely flew up and there was probably more there. Finished up with a total only 5kg off my all-time PB despite taking a 10kg hit on squat and screwing up bench. To top it all off, got a stream of awesome messages from my coach and others this evening!
  17. After all my stressing, I woke up at 62.5kg this morning. As long as my scales are/were accurate, I should be okay.
  18. Weight loss is about calorie balance. Honestly, I tend to lean towards heavier weights and lower reps rather than the high rep, light weight stuff.
