  1. The only reason I called up Spezzy on her bench is because she's very definitely in the running for best female and best overall lifter and benching on the toes gives a pretty massive advantage.
  2. Hence the rules previously only being strict for those going for a title.
  3. It used to be that if you were going for the title that you had to adhere to the rules and that there was leeway if you weren't. Flex got called up on not pausing his bench (and possibly benching on his toes) at one point. I'm sorry if I'm being a bitch but why have rules if people can break them and win.
  4. Cheering myself up with Ewan McGregor, but definitely need some Kevin McKidd soon...
  5. Okay, so I made it to the gym today and did better than expected. Managed to do band squats up to 95kgx3 with bands that are apparently about 40kg total (pull the other one), 3ct pause bench up to 70kgx5 and block pulls up to 110kgx5 . I'm still in a lot of pain from whatever is going on with my guts so I'm really pleased with that. I'm guessing this challenge will be a lot of talking to myself.
  6. Look up Legendary League of Scottish Nerds on Facebook and introduce yourself. I have a tendency to do a search for Scots fairly regularly
  7. Okay, so I'm not saying to do what I did but I worked with a physio with a fairly major L4/5 and slightly less major L5/S1 disc herniations. I didn't stop lifting fully at any point. The only time I gave up squats was when I had a massive glute injury. I did a lot of glute strengthening work, mostly Pilates-based, and I have an absolute ban on AMRAP work, but no ban on squats or deadlifts (actually, I did have a cut-down on the arch on bench for a while). I did and do have to keep my deadlift form a lot cleaner than most of my friends or I will pay for it for a couple of days. Could you work with a physiotherapist with a proper sporting background to try to work around this?
  8. Another Scot arrived and I missed it??? Hey! Welcome to the Rebellion! We have probably the best wee in-person support network on NF in Scotland if you ever want someone to natter with! Anyway, hello from Edinburgh (and Dunfermline).
  9. Following with interest. My coach is coached by Mike so always interesting to see the different trickle-downs.
  10. Welcome to the Rebellion! Hope you get stuck in and have a lot of fun! Sundae
  11. Much as with other instances, I'd think that if you're liable for a title then it might not really be fair but if you're not then fair play to join in. There's already a good degree of flexibility in the dates and the 2 week wiggle room for competitions is for those at proper meets. That's just my opinion, though.
  12. Interesting! What sorts of lifts are you doing?
  13. Oh yes, far more important news... One of my friends is working on Avengers: Infinity War!
  14. Severe IBS flare-up has cancelled my planned training session today. I think the actual running has stopped but still having crippling cramps.
  15. Stupid question: What's USAWA?
  16. Because I'm getting jacked as fook?
  17. Think they're collaborating to torture us?
  18. I'll see you that and raise you doing that as a way of learning to sumo.
  19. If I were a man, I'd definitely be smacking myself in the nuts. I've been doing sumo and getting some interesting bruises from lock-out. Gotta love being a T-rex!
  20. I was double pause benching the other day and went to rack the bar after five and got into an argument about whether I'd done four or five, so had to watch back the video twice to be sure!
