  1. Update timeee! Day 13 (Saturday) and Day 14 (Sunday) were fairly lazy - bit of cycling and walking and an ab routine (just various exercises to work the abdominal muscles). Today's update: Day 15: Monday: First day of week 3: - body weight workout - pull-ups - ab routine I wanted to get some cycling in but started my new job today so no time for cycling and I'm not quite at the level where I feel comfortable riding to work As for the smoking and the paleo - both are still 100% on track! Thanks for staying tuned folks! Jimmy
  2. Thanks hearthsinger! I really appreciate that - it means so much more when someone says they're reading your thread for inspiration Especially when it's support from other rebels like you that keeps me inspired I love the body weight circuit! I can't lift any weights at the moment (because I'm tiny) and I don't have access to a gym or any equipment so it's a good one for me. That and the original body weight workout article had me convinced that it was the best workout. I like it because it's scaleable - I started off with one circuit and it damn-near had me spewing then I started doing the prescribed 3 circuits. Now I've moved up to 5 circuits and the next step is increasing the amount of reps in each set of exercises by 5 then 10, etc until I feel like I'm able to move on to the Advanced Body Weight Workout. I've got my own little "Level Tracking Progression Chart" which outlines all the steps needed to get me to my ultimate goal (the 300 workout and a body like Gerard Butler in 300) ...that's going to be a few years methinks But it helps let me see where I'm at and how far I've got to go. Small steps though Anyways thanks for staying tuned with my challenge, it means a lot! I've been meaning to check out everyone else's challenges and support them throughout the 6 weeks but I'm still working on it (there's a lot of rebels out there and challenges to look through and very little time) - If I'm correct, yours is the Hero challenge with the cool artwork yes? Jimmy
  3. Day 12: Friday: Today: - Body Weight Workout (I up'd the amount of circuits to 5. Once I'm able to crank that out with ease, it's on to the next step which is raising the amount of reps on each exercise by 5) ...Slow and steady wins the race - Pullups Still 100% Paleo and 100% Smoke free! Jimmy
  4. Are there 101 different ways to prepare eggs?
  5. Not enough eggs if ya ask me hehe Good work on hitting total reps with the box jumps and kettlebell!
  6. Thanks Rexxar It's come at a good time as well - last month I found nerdfitness and started making changes to my life so this will help establish a nice routine and compliment the other changes in my life Thanks Raikas! I hope so! Wouldn't mind being able to do things on the weekend again (being that I won't be working) Thanks for the support Gilfren Jimmy
  7. Should be getting more sleep... It's so hard going to bed!

  8. Thanks Alex I wanted to do something semi-dramatic or at least entertaining for my first mini-challenge And yeah I made sure I didn't strain or put too much pressure on anything. The problem was finding my footing - it's a big old mercedes so I went to push it the first few times and found my shoes just sliding back on the ground but I got it in the end Jimmy
  9. Fair effort! Let us know if you make it home Jimmy
  10. Blasphemy! mutter...mutter.... hasn't seen 300 ...mutter... But seriously - you should watch the film! The whole way through! Do it! Jimmy
  11. Mad goals Arch! One of my ultimate goals is to be able to do the 300 workout but I won't be achieving that goal any time in the near future. I've got a very in-depth plan/workout schedule with all the levelling up stages I need to complete in order to get there but it's a long journey! Love the progress your making! ...Do you watch 300 or listen to the soundtrack every time you workout? Maybe it's just me but that film gets me all fired up Jimmy
  12. Just tuned in to your challenge.... I love it! Love the goals! And the puppies... they are soooo cute!!! >_< The sleeping goal is a toughie! I'm trying to get more sleep as well (it's not apart of my 6 week challenge but it is a personal goal) and it's so hard to achieve With NerdFitness articles, new threads, topics to update and countless episodes of 'The Office' to watch (I'm rewatching all seasons), I find myself putting off bed time later and later. I can't help it! I think following your progress with the sleeping might encourage me to do it... that being said, it's now close to 1am Anyways good work on the goals! Jimmy
  13. Thanks Archbishop! Maybe I ought to start pushing the old man's car more often ...this would be much funnier if you all knew how small and shrimpy I am. ..."strongman"...me... hehe Jimmy
  14. Today's update: Day 11 (Thursday): - Cycling 5km (varying speeds) - 10 metre car push (for the ranger challenge - not something I usually do) - Pullups I love off days Jimmy
  15. Woot! you're my new bestfriend! Thanks alienjenn Jimmy
  16. Props AuntieKT! Sounds like you're going pretty well overall! Don't let the lack of responses get you down - my thread has been much the same. Try and post in other parts of the forum as well, get to know rebels with similar interests and the support will increase. As for the running, are you looking at training outside more or sticking to the treadmill? I personally am not much of a runner but I've been trying to fix that. I've found that running outdoors is far more enjoyable - especially now that I've got my vibrams. If you haven't checked out any of the articles or threads on barefoot running, you definitely should! It's a whole different experience... but you tend to get a few weird looks Anyway good work so far and good luck! Jimmy
  17. Love your goals rader! And the title I've been meaning to get into swimming myself so I might check out some similar challenges and hit up the local pool. Jimmy
  18. Yeah very true! It's so much better not having to face the temptaion of chocolates and chips if they're in a different cupboard
  19. Either way I reckon if you fill your tummy enough with steak and veggies - the last thing you'll be craving is more food (sugary or not)... that's how I do it anyway Having said that, I'm a 54kg, 20 year old male so my metabolism may be a bit different too No idea where Westerfolds Park is - is that Northern Vic? How far out from the CBD? And yeah that is true! Paddling takes its toll on the upper body - especially the shoulders, mine usually ache for a day afterwards
  20. I decided I'd push myself and do something warrior-like, being that I'm about the size of a malnourished hobbit. I wanted to get creative and feel awesome but I have nothing big or dramatic to lift at my house - and I'm not strong enough (nor do I posses the supernatural powers that would allow me) to lift the family car or the house itself... HOWEVER! I figured I could try and push the car It's probably no real feat of strength for most but I decided to push my dad's big old box-like Merc, the entire length of the driveway and into the garage. My driveway is only very short though and that almost killed me... I'm very weak The distance from start to finish (which was measured from the middle of the rear wheel) ended up being spot on 10 meters. The car weighs 1500kg (Kerb/Curb weight). If that doesn't classify due to not actually having lifted it - then I cycled 5km today as well just in case P.S. couldn't find any of the leaders under the car... maybe they're hiding from us Jimmy
  21. It's not crazy if you believe you can do it! Sounds like both are good options. Have you thought of doing an in-depth pros and cons list? (like Jim Halpert in 'The Office', I'm a big fan of pros and cons lists) My main concern would be career progression and money. I know it's not all about the money and if you're passionate about something then you should go for it no matter how hard it seems, however making ends meet is important. Will the creative writing program take you as far as the sociology or vice versa? Can you make more money doing one over the other or have more career oportunities? All good things to think about or just make it harder on your time and easier on your decission making and go both like you said Jimmy.
  22. Yes definitely do! I made it easy and threw out most of the non paleo stuff in the cupboards and moved the rest over to a seperate cupboard for the others in my house who are non-paleo eaters. It made it so much easier! I also printed out big signs the first week and slapped them on the fridge and the pantry The fridge one said NO SODA, NO DAIRY on it and the pantry one said NO GRAINS, NO SUGAR ...That really helped because I saw them everytime I went there. As for the cravings - the idea is to make your paleo food taste good. If it tastes good, then you shouldn't be craving anything else. Building on that, you should be more hungry because you cut out all the sugar and stuff in your meal which means you can eat bigger portions of better food. Once you up the portions of the better food, you'll fill up on that, no longer be hungry and have no desire to snack on unhealthy things. I think snacking is where people come undone - it's so much easier opening a bag of chips than cooking veges or meat - or even cutting up celery (although it's easy - it's not as easy as poppin a bag of crisps) I snack on veges now Or I just cook up a steak or chicken fillet. As for the paddle, I started up in Fairfield at the canoe club and paddled down to the Kew Boat House which was 5km and then back again. Lake Eppalock - that's a fair way out isn't it? You out that way or just go up there for paddling? Thanks for keeping up with my challenge WCG
  23. Hey folks! Having a bit of a woot moment! Just got the official word that I'm starting my new job on Monday! I'll now be a regular Monday to Friday desk jockey like everyone else in the world Can't wait to have a desk! (I was previously working in a high-end cocktail bar which was nice and all but hey, who wants to be getting home at 5am after being on their feet all day) Not sure what to expect as I've never worked for a company this big before so I'm a little nervous but still super excited! Oh and it's a bank I'm working for... I don't think most of you would know it but it's ANZ (you Aussie rebels will know it). Anyways, woot! Jimmy
  24. Woot! Congratulations! How are you going to decide? Any ideas? Jimmy
